Procuring a baby is a lifetime dream of every female in the society. A malformed alive fetus is one of the worst aspects of pregnancy. Ayurveda gives precise description of Garbha Vriddhi and Vikas Kram, though there were no modern imaging techniques like sonography, MRI etc. Different Texts of Ayurveda gives various views regarding Garbha Utpattiand Garbha Vriddhi. Ayurveda has   also mentioned Garbhini Lakshana which are helpful in diagnosis of early pregnancy and prevents the fetal anamolies. This study is an attempt to elaborate and compare both ancient and modern concept of embryogenesis and its clinical significance.&nbsp

    A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Abdominal Breathing Exercise in Reduction of Blood Pressure Among Hypertensive Patients in Selected Hospitals at Bhopal

    Background: Abdominal breathing exercise is one among these. It reduces blood pressure by increasing baroreflex sensitivity and reducing sympathetic activity and chemo reflex activation. In India, it is reported that there are around 42% people are with pre hypertension, 15% are newly diagnose to have Hypertension and 31% are with known case of hypertension, and it kills nearly 8 million people every year worldwide. The noncompliance with treatment, stress and life style are found to be major reason for this doubling of disease within a decade, there “arises need for new therapies ‘and’ remedies. Objectives: The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of abdominal breathing exercise in reducing mean blood pressure among hypertensive patients. Methods: Pre-experimental one group pre-test – post-test design was adopted for the study. 60 hypertensive patients from male and female medical general ward had been selected by convenient sampling. Tool comprised of Demographic proforma contained 9 items and sphygmomanometer, stethoscope and blood pressure monitoring table contained 3 items to record the readings. The reliability of the tool was tested by inter-rater method and it was found to be r = 0.99. Abdominal breathing exercise was administered to the samples after pre-assessment of mean blood pressure for ten minutes and post assessment of mean blood pressure is done at the gap of 5 minutes which is repeated 3 times a day and monitored for minimum of 3 days. ‘t’ test was used for finding the effectiveness, and Chi square test was used for finding out the association between mean blood pressure and selected demographic variables. Results: It revealed that the mean differences in pre and post assessment was5.61 and ‘t’ value was 19.39 which is more than the ‘t’ table value. The overall findings of the study revealed that the Conclusion: the study concluded that abdominal breathing exercise is found to be very effective in reducing the mean blood pressure

    Background: In the present study, “Diabegon” a poly-herbal preparation, with hypoglycemic activity, was evaluated for its preventive effect in metabolic syndrome subjects with type 2 diabetes and also to reveal its side effects, on liver and kidney. Materials and Methods: Type 2 diabetic subjects with metabolic syndrome (N=58) were categorized on the basis of age and fasting blood glucose. The grouping was as follows: Group I (35-50 yrs), Group II (51-65 yrs), Group III >65 yrs, Group IV FBS145. Each group was administered 4 gm of diabegon daily. Blood glucose levels, lipid profile, liver and kidney function of the subjects were regularly monitored within 3 months of interval to 18 months.     Glioblastoma multiform (GBM) is a heterogeneous group of primary neoplasm resistant to conventional therapies. Due to their infiltrative nature it not fully isolated by aggressive surgery, radiation and chemotherapy showing poor prognosis in glioma patients. Unfortunately, diagnosed patients die within 1.5-2 year treatment schedule. Currently temozolomide (TMZ) is the first choice for the prognosis of GBM patients. TMZ metabolites methyl triazen imidazol carboxamide form complex with alkyl guanine alkyl transferase (O6 MGMT- DNA repair protein) induced DNA damage following resistance properties of TMZ and inhibit the overall survival of the patients. Last few decades different TMZ conjugated strategy is developed to overcome the resistance and enhance the chemotherapy efficacy. The main aim of this review is to introduce the new promising pharmaceutical candidates that significantly influence the therapeutic response of the TMZ in context of targeted therapy of glioblastoma patients. It is hoped that this proposed strategy are highly effective to overcome the current resistance limitations of TMZ in GBM patients and enhance the survival rate of the patients

    Cancer is the most dreadful disease affecting mankind. The available treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy have cytotoxic effects, which are hazardous to the normal cells of the patient, causing many unnecessary effects. This further leads to complications of the therapy, impaired health, and deterioration of quality of life, resulting in mandatory stoppage of the treatment. In the present study, the efficacy of an Ayurvedic formulation, Rasayana Avaleha, has been evaluated as an adjuvant medication to modern radiotherapy and chemotherapy. A total of 36 cancer patients were registered in this trial and were divided into two groups, group A and group B. In group A, the patients were treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy along with adjuvant Rasayana Avaleha (RT + CT + RA), while in group B only radiotherapy and chemotherapy (RT + CT) were given, as the control group. After assessing the results, it was observed that Rasayana Avaleha gave better results in controlling the adverse effect of chemotherapy and radiotherapy in comparison with the control group. Therefore, Rasayana Avaleha has proved to be an effective adjuvant therapy in protecting patients from the adverse effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy

    Ayurveda is an ancient system of medicine, along with preventive and curative aspects of health of an individual. It plays an enormous emphasis on the importance of caring for the mother before, during, and after pregnancy. For a woman, reproductive period has a great importance in her life. Becoming mother is a beautiful dream of every woman in the world. Pregnancy is the most crucial and challenging phase in a woman’s life. Pregnancy can gets affected by enormous factors such as food habits, lifestyle and psychological factors. The foetus, in the intra-uterine life, is in constant relation with the mother for both development and nourishment. While explaining Garbhini Paricharya, the great authorities of Ayurveda have explained about the things to avoid in pregnancy called Garbhopaghatakara Bhavas.     An integrated process for the extraction of fuel and chemicals from marine macroalgal biomass

    We describe an integrated process that can be applied to biomass of the green seaweed, Ulva fasciata, to allow the sequential recovery of four economically important fractions; mineral rich liquid extract (MRLE), lipid, ulvan, and cellulose. The main benefits of our process are: a) its simplicity and b) the consistent yields obtained from the residual biomass after each successive extraction step. For example, dry Ulva biomass yields ~26% of its starting mass as MRLE, ~3% as lipid, ~25% as ulvan, and ~11% as cellulose, with the enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation of the final cellulose fraction under optimized conditions producing ethanol at a competitive 0.45 g/g reducing sugar. These yields are comparable to those obtained by direct processing of the individual components from primary biomass. We propose that this integration of ethanol production and chemical feedstock recovery from macroalgal biomass could substantially enhance the sustainability of marine biomass use
