    Bit-Vector Typestate Analysis

    Get PDF
Static analyses based on typestates are important in certifying correctness of code contracts. Such analyses rely on Deterministic Finite Automata (DFAs) to specify properties of an object. We target the analysis of contracts in low-latency environments, where many useful contracts are impractical to codify as DFAs and/or the size of their associated DFAs leads to sub-par performance. To address this bottleneck, we present a lightweight compositional typestate analyzer, based on an expressive specification language that can succinctly specify code contracts. By implementing it in the static analyzer Infer, we demonstrate considerable performance and usability benefits when compared to existing techniques. A central insight is to rely on a sub-class of DFAs whose analysis uses efficient bit-vector operations

Minimal Session Types for the π-calculus

    Get PDF
Session types enable the static verification of message-passing programs. A session type specifies a channel’s protocol as sequences of messages. Prior work established a minimality result: every process typable with standard session types can be compiled down to a process typable using minimal session types: session types without the sequencing construct. This result justifies session types in terms of themselves; it holds for a higher-order session π-calculus, where values are abstractions (functions from names to processes). This paper establishes a new minimality result but now for the session π-calculus, the language in which values are names and for which session types have been more widely studied. Remarkably, this new minimality result can be obtained by composing known results. We develop optimizations of our new minimality result, and establish its static and dynamic correctness.<br/

Socioeconomic condition and dietary habits in relation to oral health in 12-year-old children from Sarajevo, Bosnia-Hercegovina

Introduction: Living conditions and socioeconomic status are the significant determinants of oral health. The research goal was to analyze the dietary habits of 12-year-old children in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Hercegovina. Another goal was to investigate the differences in food cariogenicity of children living under different socioeconomic conditions and to determine their relationship with the oral health. Materials and methods: The sample included 109 children, classified in groups of high, average and low socioeconomic status. Based on the survey and examination, data on nutrition and caries experience (DMFT index) were obtained. Results: There was a difference in dietary habits between children living under different conditions. Children of high socioeconomic status (SES) had a more favorable number of daily meals comparing to children of low socioeconomic status. The average DMFT index, as a measure of caries experience of 12-year-old children amounted 4.8(±3.2). Children of high socioeconomic status had significantly lower caries experience than those from average and low statuses (high SES DMFT 3,60±2,84SD vs. middle SES DMFT 5,28±3,83SD and low SES DMFT 5,47±2,53SD; p<0.05)

On the Interplay between Consumer Dispositions and Perceived Brand Globalness: Alternative Theoretical Perspectives and Empirical Assessment

    Get PDF
Although prior research is congested with constructs intended to capture consumers’ dispositions toward globalization and global/local products, their effects appear to replicate with difficulty, and little is known about the underlying theoretical mechanisms. This investigation revisits the relationship between prominent consumer dispositions (consumer ethnocentrism, cosmopolitanism, global/local identity, globalization attitude) and perceived brand globalness as determinants of consumer responses to global brands. Drawing on selective perception and social identity theories, the authors consider several theory-based model specifications that reflect alternative mechanisms through which key consumer dispositions relate to brand globalness and affect important brand-related outcomes. By employing a flexible model that simultaneously accounts for moderating, mediating, conditional, and direct effects, we empirically test these rival model specifications. A meta-analysis of 264 effect sizes obtained from 13 studies with 23 unique data sets and a total sample of 1,410 consumers raises concerns regarding the (potentially overstated) utility of consumer dispositions for explaining consumer responses to global brands. It also reveals a need for further conceptual contemplation of their function in international consumer research and managerial practice

Tracheobronchopathia osteochondroplastica: a cause of difficulte intubation

Tracheobronchopathia osteochondroplastica (TPO) is a rare benign disorder of the lower part of the trachea and the upper part of the main bronchii. It was first described in the middle of the 19th century and since then, approximately 300 cases have been reported. A higher incidence on TPO was seen in northern Europe countries, especially Finland. Because many cases are asymptomatic TPO is mainly diagnosed post mortem. Symptomes can range from productive or non productive cough, haemoptysis, dyspnoea, dryness of the throat, recurrent pulmonary infections or ozaena. In severe cases diagnosis is made during difficult or failed intubation. Mild cases are treated symptomaticaly. In our paper we presented case of famale patient admitted in hospital for operative treatment of nasal septal deviation and chronic inflammation of both maxillary sinuses. Patient had nonspecific symptoms of frequent infections of upper respiratory tract infections and dispnea. She was prepared for general anesthesia. Attempt of intubation failed. Operative treatment was delayed. Diagnostic procedures showed TPO. TPO was confirmed by typical histological findings by bronchoscopic biopsy. Characteristic bronchoscopic finding is described as beaded, speculated, roch garden, cobble stoned or stalactive grotto appearance. In most cases disease progress very slowly although progression have been reported eventually leading to respiratory insufficiency. Difficulties during intubation or failed intubation must be well diagnosed. TPO can be main reason for that. Keywords: tracheobronchopathia osteochondroplastica, disorder, trachea, intubationDer Erstautor gibt keinen Interessenkonflikt an
