Gas Phase Structure and Reactivity of Doubly Charged Microhydrated Calcium(II)-Catechol Complexes Probed by Infrared Spectroscopy

Doubly charged microhydrated adducts formed from catechol and calcium(II) were produced in the gas phase using electrospray ionization (ESI) appearing as the most important ions in the mass spectra recorded. The gas phase structures of [Ca(catechol)2(H2O)]2+ and [Ca(catechol)2(H2O)2]2+ have been assayed by IR multiphoton dissociation (IRMPD) spectroscopy, recording their vibrational spectra in the 3450–3750 cm–1 range (OH stretching region) and in the 900–1700 cm–1 fingerprint spectral region. The agreement between experimental and calculated IR spectra of the selected cluster ions confirmed the suitability of the proposed geometries. In addition, quantum chemical calculations at the B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p) level of theory were performed for [Ca(catechol)2(H2O)]2+ to gain insight into the major routes of dissociation. The results suggest that loss of the water molecule is the lowest energy fragmentation channel followed by charge separation products and neutral loss of one catechol molecule, in agreement with the product ions observed upon collision-induced dissociation (CID).Fil: Butler, Matias.

This article exposes what queer temporality is and what it consists of in order to account for some of the most relevant contributions in this emerging field of study, as well as outlining the dialogue between the different theoretical proposals regarding the political articulation of what is queer. Thus, based on a joint reading of Lee Edelman, Jack Halberstam, Heather Love, José Esteban Muñoz, Elizabeth Freeman, Sara Ahmed and Lorenzo Bernini, the question of the temporality of affects is addressed in relation to the debate on assimilation and political transgression in queer culture. The postulation of a queer politics of time opposes reproductive futurism and chrononormativity, temporal translations of heteronormativity that reveal the link between the erotic, sexual and gender issues and the temporal ones. The controversy between Edelman and Muñoz is relevant, because they discuss the viability of an emancipatory future horizon for queer politics, and the former represents the position of negativity against the utopianism of the latter. Recreational boaters support the use of mooring buoys to reduce anchor damage to Posidonia oceanica (L.) Delile meadows

Recreational boating is an important economic activity in the Mediterranean Sea that often leads to disturbance by anchoring of Posidonia oceanica meadows, an endemic seagrass that is a critical component of shallow coastal ecosystems. A selfadministered survey of recreational boaters that anchor in a popular mooring site (Cala Blava) in the coast of Mallorca (Balearic Islands, Western Mediterranean) was carried out during the summer season of 2011 to assess their preferences regarding the number of boats anchoring at the cove and the distance between them, their willingness to pay for the use of mooring buoys and their perception of the negative effects that recreational boating may have on the marine environment. Four hundred and twenty five surveys were obtained over a period of 23 days (11 weekend days, 14 week days) with a response rate of 95 %. The number of boats anchored was higher during weekends (30 ± 13 boats) than during the rest of the week (15 ± 5 boats). Most of the respondents considered that both the number of anchored boats and distance between them were adequate, and they were satisfied with their visit to Cala Blava. Anchor damage was identified as the main impact caused in the marine environment by recreational boating. Support for the use of mooring buoys was high (72 %) and 58 % of boaters were willing to pay a fee for buoy use. The most widely accepted fee was 5 Euros per day of use. These results suggest that the public is well aware of the damage caused by anchoring on P. oceanica meadows and that environmental regulation that would reduce this harm through the use of mooring buoys would have wide support from the main users, who would be even willing to pay for the service. This is a bright prospect for the conservation of this valuable and fragile coastal ecosystem

Finalment oferim algunes conclusions. In this paper we intend to present a description of the characteristics and the position of a part of this diffuse set of the symbolic production that is “culture”, understood in our case in a very restricted sense, and how it is distributed over the territory of the Valencian Community. In point 2 we try to come closer to the quantitative dimension of the phenomenon in terms of employment and revenues. In point 3 our analysis locates the territorial dimensions erga-intra (it is to say the hierarchy of cultural local systems inside the Valencian Community), and erga extra (with regard to other territorial spaces of Spain). Later, in points 4, 5 and 6 we try to describe the most characteristics features of different cultural sectors in the Valencian Community, to go on to the point 7 in which we offer an explanation on the role played by the cultural policies in the configuration of the above mentioned sectors. Finally we offer some conclusionsPublicaciones Econcult: Área de Investigación en Economía de la Cultura y Turismo. Universitat de Valènci
