    ‘Don Carlos INTA’ Peach

    Get PDF
‘Don Carlos INTA’ has been released by the San Pedro Experiment Station, Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria (INTA) to provide a medium-chilling, commercially acceptable peach that ripens after ‘June Gold’ and with a local peach selection ‘Ginart’. ‘Don Carlos INTA’ has a fruit developmental period of ≈110 d and a chilling requirement of 539 h. Flowers are showy and leaf glands are reniform. This medium-sized, semifreestone peach, which ripens in early December in the northeastern fruit-growing area of the province of Buenos Aires, is a white-flesh peach considered as an alternative for the beginning of the regional midseason.EEA San PedroFil: Valentini, Gabriel Hugo. The Europeanisation of Spanish Administrative Law through the Principle of Legitimate Expectations

    Get PDF
This article describes the Europeanisation of Spanish administrative law as a result of the influence of the EU law general principle of legitimate expectations. It examines, firstly, whether the formal incorporation of the principle of legitimate expectations into national legislation and case law has modified the substance of the latter, and if so, secondly, whether this has led to a weaker or a more robust protection of the legal status quo. To carry out that examination, the article considers the influence of the principle of legitimate expectations in two different areas: in individual administrative decision-making, and in legislative and administrative rulemaking. Our conclusion is that the Europeanisation of Spanish administrative law through the principle of legitimate expectations has been variable and ambiguous

Coordination of Supply Chain Networks and the Emergence of Mini-maestros

Abstract Companies recognize international sourcing as a business practice useful to reduce product prices, deal with supply shortages and identify new competitive suppliers. Effective international sourcing implies the integration and coordination of materials, processes, information flows and multiple producers at each buying location. Many companies do not have the capabilities or the willingness to develop and manage such sourcing networks; therefore, other entities have assumed these responsibilities. These coordinators are in charge of the integration of many suppliers to develop full-package production, serve as liaisons between suppliers’ capabilities and market demands, and provide the technical and financial support to sustain the sourcing network. The review of the industrial clustering and global supply chain literature allowed the identification of such coordinators in Mexico. The emergence and profile of these coordinators is associated with corporate strategies of multinational firms, the efforts of industrial groups, and the governmental policies for the development of dynamic industrial regions. This paper analyzes the characteristics of four coordination models identified in the Mexican context, focusing on their contribution to the participation and upgrading of national suppliers. The profile of the coordinator firm, the type of relations that this firm sustains with producers and the support offered to suppliers is also discussed. A particular emphasis is given to the fourth model where a third party, a knowledge and service company, assumes the coordinator role. The interest on this model is due to its novelty, the flexibility of the sourcing network, and the potential impact on regional development that could result from the intervention of a neutral third party as coordinator of the activities of multiple local and specialized suppliers

A mathematical model with nonlinear relapse: conditions for a forward-backward bifurcation

We constructed a Susceptible-Addicted-Reformed model and explored the dynamics of nonlinear relapse in the Reformed population. The transition from susceptible considered {\it at-risk} is modeled using a strictly decreasing general function, mimicking an influential factor that reduces the flow into the addicted class. The {\it basic reproductive number} is computed. Furthermore, R0R_0 determines the local asymptotically stability of the addicted-free equilibrium. Conditions for a forward-backward bifurcation were established using R0R_0 and other threshold quantities. A stochastic version of the model is presented, and some numerical examples are shown. Results showed that the influence of the temporarily reformed individuals is highly sensitive to the initial addicted population.Comment: 13 pages, 8 figure

Eco-Contribution for the Production of N-Arylnitrones: Solvent-Free and Assisted by Microwaves

A simple green approach for the production of benzylideneaniline oxides is offered. This contribution was performed via the condensation of phenylhydroxylamine with several aryl aldehydes, in the absence of both catalyst and solvent, and using microwave irradiation as the activating reaction mode. In addition, good yields of the products were achieved in a short time. It is also worth noting that the work-up procedure is simple and the products do not require further purification. Finally, an interesting comparison without the use of microwave irradiation is also discussed

A numerical implementation for the high-order 2D Virtual Element Method in MATLAB

    Get PDF
We present a numerical implementation for the Virtual Element Method that in- corporates high order spaces. We include all the required computations in order to assemble the stiffness and mass matrices, and right hand side. Convergence of method is verified for different polygonal partitions. An specific mesh-free application that allows to approximate harmonic func- tions is discussed, based on high-order projections. This approach significantly improves running times compared to usual finite or virtual element methods, and can be modified for different virtual spaces and elliptic partial differential equations.UCR::Vicerrectoría de Docencia::Ciencias Básicas::Facultad de Ciencias::Escuela de Matemátic
