    Uniqueness of rotation invariant norms

    Get PDF
If N >= 2, then there exist finitely many rotations of the sphere S(N) such that the set of the corresponding rotation operators on L(p)(S(N)) determines the norm topology for 1 < p <= infinity. For N = 1 the situation is different: the norm topology of L(2)(S(1)) cannot be determined by the set of operators corresponding to the rotations by elements of any 'thin' set of rotations of S(1).The authors were supported by MEC (Spain) Grant MTM2006-04837 and Junta de Andalucía Grants FQM-185 and Proyecto de Excelencia P06-FQM-01438

Funding for open access charge: Universidad de Granada/CBUA.C*-algebras, group algebras, and the algebra A(X) of approximable operators on a Banach space Xhaving the bounded approximation property are known to be zero product determined. In this paper we give a quantitative estimate of this property by showing that, for the Banach algebra A, there exists a constant awith the property that for every continuous bilinear functional phi: A x A -> C there exists a continuous linear functional xi on A such that sup(parallel to a parallel to=parallel to b parallel to=1) vertical bar phi(a, b) - xi(ab)vertical bar <= alpha sup(parallel to a parallel to=parallel to b parallel to=1ab-0), vertical bar phi(a, b)vertical bar in each of the following cases: (i) Ais a C*-algebra, in which case alpha = 8; (ii) A = L-1(G) for a locally compact group G, in which case alpha = 60 root 271+sin pi/10/1-2sin pi/10; (iii) A = A(X) for a Banach space Xhaving property (A)(which is a rather strong approximation property for X), in which case alpha = 60 root 27 1+sin pi/10/1-2sin pi/10 C-2, where C is a constant associated with the property(A) that we require forX.MCIU/AEI/FEDER Grant PGC2018-093794-B-I00Junta de Andalucia FQM-185Proyectos I+D+i del programa operativo FEDER-Andalucia Grant A-FQM-484-UGR18MIU PhD scholarship Grant FPU18/00419Universidad de Granada/CBU

PURPOSE: The authors present a prospective study on 10 patients with stereotactic infusion of tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) intraparenchimal hemorrhage. METHODS: Between 1999 and 2000, 10 patients with deep seated hematomas in the basal ganglia were selected for stereotactic infusion of rtPA and spontaneous clot drainage. RESULTS: All cases had about 80% reduction of the hematoma volume in the CT scan at the third day. The intracranial pressure was normalized by the third day too. There were no local or systemic complications with the use of this trombolitic. The results were shown by the Glasgow Outcome Scale with six patients in V, three in IV and one in III after 3 months. CONCLUSION: Early treatment and drainage with minimally invasive neurosurgery , can make these patients with deep-seated hematomas recover the consciousness and they can be rehabilitated earlier avoiding secondary complications.OBJETIVO: Estudo prospectivo em 10 pacientes com infusão de trombolítico (rtPA) dentro do hematoma cerebral profundo supratentorial e drenagem estereotáxica. A pressão intracraniana estava normalizada no terceiro dia.

Development of an image registration technique as a complement for surgical planning in stereotactic conditions

After providing several examples, we show that in these algebras derivations are determined by a condition that is applicable to the study of local derivations. This enables us to prove that every continuous local derivation D : L1(G) → L1(G), where G is a unimodular locally compact group, is a derivation. We also give some remarks on homomorphism-like maps in commutator-simple algebras.MCIN/AEI/ 10.13039/50110001103 Grant PID2021-122126NB-C31“ERDF A way of making Europe”Junta de Andalucía FQM-185Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS) Grant P1-0288MIU: FPU18/0041

The authors present the preliminary results of 20 patients selected to be operated on between January 1996 and April 1997. These patients presented one of the present indications for stereotactic posteroventral pallidotomy (PVP), such as: rigidity, akinesia/bradykinesia, gait dysfunction, drug induced dyskinesias and tremor. Every patient of this protocol was evaluated by: UPDRS score, Schwab and England scale, Hoehn and Yahr Staging Scale before and after surgery. The results in 3 months showed a remarkable improvement after PVP (P<0.041) in all functional assessments, except for facial expression, speech and posture. The morbidity was 5%. 5 patients (25%) who were in Hoehn and Yahr 5 underwent a bilateral simultaneous PVP. In 5 patients (25%), who had tremor, during the PVP, VIM thalamotomy was added. These preliminary results suggest that PVP is highly effective for PD symptoms.Univ Fed Sao Paulo, Escola Paulista Med, Hosp Nove de Julho, Sao Paulo, BrazilEstereolife Neurocirurgia Funct & Estereotax, Rio De Janeiro, BrazilUniv Fed Sao Paulo, Escola Paulista Med, Hosp Nove de Julho, Sao Paulo, BrazilWeb of Scienc
