    Dual Channel Double Wavelength Method in Optical Fiber Based Gas Sensor for Carbon Dioxide Detection

    A novel double wavelength strategy in optical fiberbased sensor for detection of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas is presented. The detection strategy works based on an open-path direct absorption spectroscopy in the mid-infrared (mid-IR) wavelength range. The sensor system comprises of a broadband filament emitter acting as the Infrared (IR) light source, Chalcogenide Infrared (CIR) Optical Fibers, two Pyroelectric detectors which been fitted built- in with a limited bandpass CO2 channel and a reference channel. The sensor additionally uses calcium fluoride (CaF2) limit bandpass (NBP) channel for recognition of CO2 gas without cross-sensitivity to different gasses exist in the surrounding environment. Elevated expression of COX-2, an induced cyclooxygenase isoenzyme, has been seen in colonic adenomas and colorectal carcinoma. There is evidence that inhibition of this COX-2 can decrease the risk of colorectal cancer. Selective COX-2 inhibitors may have a role in reducing the risk of colorectal cancer in high-risk individuals

    A Compact Optical Fiber Based Gas Sensing System for Carbon Dioxide Monitoring

    This paper presents an approach to develop an optical fiber based gas leak sensor that can be used to detect and quantify carbon dioxide gas. The developed sensor system operates based on the principles of Infrared (IR) absorption spectroscopy using the dual channel and double wavelength method. Therefore, it is possible to eliminate the interference signal from the outside environment by using this method. The design of the Carbon Dioxide (CO2) gas sensor system consists of a Broadband light source, two IR detectors with different Narrow Band Pass (NBP) filters for Active and Reference channel, chalcogenide infrared (CIR) fibers and a compact gas detection cell. The output of the sensor system is captured using in-house LabVIEW program with Data Acquisition (DAQ) capabilities and displayed in real time. Experimental results show that the developed optical fiber based gas sensor system is capable to detect and quantify concentrations of carbon dioxide gas for leak detection and also environmental monitoring applications

    Malaysia is embarking on green initiatives which have been expressly stipulated in the Eleventh Malaysia Plan (2016-2020). In order to transform ideas into reality, the government has identified six strategic thrusts and six game changers that will help Malaysia to stay ahead of global challenges and opportunities in the next five years. In one of the strategic thrusts, the government has planned a greener trajectory for sustainability and resilience [1]. As a result, governmental agencies such as the Department of Environment (DOE) has been given the mandate to conserve and protect the environment and its natural resources for present and future generations. Among the ways applied by the government for solving environmental problems, especially waste generation, include waste minimization, compost and incineration. The Public Cleansing Management Act 2007 (SWPCM Act 2007) came into force on 1 September 2011. It was administered by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government. The main objective of the act is to regulate the management of controlled solid waste and to ensure high-quality services in solid waste management [2].     The present day the applications of machining part tolerances, like the automotive industries aimed to reduce the fuel consumption of their vehicle by reducing the total mass per vehicle and the method process for machining. Understanding of the interaction and significance machining parameters are important to improve the efficiency of any machining process and the accuracy part produced. The objective of this research is to analyze the machining parameters (spindle speed, depth of cut and feed rates) in a three machining conditions (dry, wet and 1.0 mm coolant nozzle size on the surface roughness and tool wear using Respond Surface Method (RSM) on the CNC Lathe machine with 2 axes movements. The synthetic soluble oils, and coated cemented carbide Al2 O3 insert were used as a workpiece material and cutting tool respectively. The result of the machining experiment for Aluminum alloy 319 was investigated to analyze the main factor affecting surface roughness using the analysis of Variance (ANOVA) method. The optimum selection of the cutting conditions effectively contributes to the increase in the productivity and reduction in the production cost; therefore almost attention is paid to this problem. In cutting process, optimization of cutting parameters is considered to be a vital tool for improvement in output quality of a product as well as reducing the overall production time. The acquired results showed that the coated cemented carbide Al2 O3 insert gives the optimum overall performance in terms of surface roughness and tool wear with the smallest orifice size coolant. The research also beneficial in minimizing the costs incurred and improving productivity of manufacturing firms using the mathematical model and equations, generated by CCD based on RSM method

    The development of information technology has an impact on government agencies to improve personnel administration services. Therefore, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights utilizes information and communication technology as a personnel management information system. This is a manifestation of the implementation of e-government in services in the field of personnel. This research use descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. In this study, what under lies the implementation of e-government in the personne lmanagement information system is the existence of supporting factors for the success of e-government developed by Gil Gracia and Theresa (2005) which includes aspects such as data and information, information technology, managerial and organizational, legal and regulatory, institutional and environmental. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of e-government in the personnel management information system has been quite optimal but there is still a lack of employee awareness updating data. Efforts made at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights West Java are always increasing employee awareness of the data update process
