Early Aspects at ICSE 2007: Workshop on Aspect-Oriented Requirements Engineering and Architecture Design

    Get PDF
The “Early Aspects @ ICSE’07” is the 11th workshop in the series of Early Aspects workshops [1] which focuses on aspect identification during the requirements engineering and architecture derivation activities. The specific aim of the present workshop is twofold: (a) to initiate creation of an Early Aspects application demonstration and comparisons benchmark; and (b) to solicit submission of new research

Predictive Pati-Salam theory of fermion masses and mixing

We propose a Pati-Salam extension of the standard model incorporating a flavor symmetry based on the Δ(27)\Delta \left( 27\right) group. The theory realizes a realistic Froggatt-Nielsen picture of quark mixing and a predictive pattern of neutrino oscillations. We find that, for normal neutrino mass ordering, the atmospheric angle must lie in the higher octant, CP must be violated in oscillations, and there is a lower bound for the 0νββ0\nu\beta\beta decay rate. For the case of inverted mass ordering, we find that the lower atmospheric octant is preferred, and that CP can be conserved in oscillations. Neutrino masses arise from a low-scale seesaw mechanism, whose messengers can be produced by a ZZ^{\prime } portal at the LHC.Comment: 28 pages, 3 figures, published versio

Universal R-C crossover in current-voltage characteristics for unshunted array of overdamped Nb-AlO_x-Nb Josephson junctions

We report on some unusual behavior of the measured current-voltage characteristics (CVC) in artificially prepared two-dimensional unshunted array of overdamped Nb-AlO_x-Nb Josephson junctions. The obtained nonlinear CVC are found to exhibit a pronounced (and practically temperature independent) crossover at some current I_{cr}=\left(\frac{1}{2\beta_C}-1\right)I_C from a resistance R dominated state with V_R=R\sqrt{I^2-I_C^2} below I_{cr} to a capacitance C dominated state with V_C=\sqrt{\frac{\hbar}{4eC}} \sqrt{I-I_C} above I_{cr}. The origin of the observed behavior is discussed within a single-plaquette approximation assuming the conventional RSJ model with a finite capacitance and the Ambegaokar-Baratoff relation for the critical current of the single junction

Manifestation of geometric resonance in current dependence of AC susceptibility for unshunted array of Nb-AlOx-Nb Josephson junctions

A pronounced resonance-like structure has been observed in the current dependence of AC susceptibility for two-dimensional array of unshunted Nb-AlOx-Nb Josephson junctions. Using a single-plaquette approximation, we were able to successfully fit our data assuming that resonance structure is related to the geometric (inductive) properties of the array.Comment: to appear in Physica C (in press

Weak measurement og the composite Goo-Haenchen shift in the critical region

By using a weak measurement technique, we investigated the interplay between the angular and lateral Goos-Haenchen shift of a focused He-Ne laser beam for incidence near the critical angle. We verified that this interplay dramatically affects the composite Goos-Haenchen shift of the propagated beam. The experimental results confirm theoretical predictions that recently appeared in the literature.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure

Electron-positron annihilation into phi f_{0}(980) and clues for a new 1^{--} resonance

We study the e^{+}e^{-} to phi pi pi reaction for pions in an isoscalar s-wave which is dominated by loop mechanisms. For kaon loops we start from the conventional RCHPT, but use the unitarized amplitude for KbarK-pipi scattering and the full kaon form factor instead of the lowest order terms. We study also effects of vector mesons using RCHPT supplemented with the conventional anomalous term for VVP interactions and taking into account the effects of heavy vector mesons in the K*K transition form factor. We find a peak in the dipion invariant mass around the f_{0}(980) as in the experiment. Selecting the phi f_{0}(980) contribution as a function of the e^{+}e^{-} energy we also reproduce the experimental data except for a narrow peak, yielding support to the existence of a 1^{--} resonance above the phi f_{0}(980) threshold, coupling strongly to this state.Comment: 18 pages, 4 figure
