Exact Solutions of the Caldeira-Leggett Master Equation: A Factorization Theorem For Decoherence

    Get PDF
Exact solutions of the Caldeira-Leggett Master equation for the reduced density matrix for a free particle and for a harmonic oscillator system coupled to a heat bath of oscillators are obtained for arbitrary initial conditions. The solutions prove that the Fourier transform of the density matrix at time t with respect to (x + x')/2, where x and x' are the initial and final coordinates, factorizes exactly into a part depending linearly on the initial density matrix and a part independent of it. The theorem yields the exact initial state dependence of the density operator at time t and its eventual diagonalization in the energy basis.Comment: 8 pages, late

Infertility is a condition in which successful pregnancy has not occurred, despite normal intercourse over 12 months. The cause of female infertility is multifactorial. Ayurveda assures normal pregnancy by proper maintenance of Garbha Samgraha samagris and normalcy of mind. All the causes of female infertility come under the imbalance of Garbha Samgraha Samagri and mind factors. In this case report patient suffered from primary infertility since six years, after allopathic consultation came for ayurvedic treatment. From detailed history involvement of vitiated Vatha, Agnimandhya and stressful mind was noticed. She was treated with Chiruvilwadi kashayam, Dhanwantharam gulika, Jeerakarishtam, Kumaryasavam and Manasamithravatakam for one month.  Took follicular study on next cycle and revealed post ovulatory status on 16th day of cycle. Advised Phalasarpis, Dhanwantharam Gulika and Manasamithravatakam for two weeks. Patient came with positive urine pregnancy test after one week of missed period. The line of treatment followed in this case was to maintain Agni, normalize Vatha and assure proper health to mind. During the second half of the cycle Garbhasthapana medicines were administered. Patient took Dhanwantharam gulika and phalasarpis throughout the first trimester along with regular ante natal check up. Continued Dhanwantharam gulika up to 36 weeks and started Sukhaprasavagritham upto delivery from 36 weeks onwards. She delivered a female baby on 06.05.2018

    Get PDF
The morphological and anatomical characterisation of ten medicinally and economically important species of Curcuma L. from South India namely, C. aeruginosa (neela-kua), C. amada (manga-inchi), C. aromatica (kasturi-manjal), C. aurantiaca, C. caesia (kari-manjal), C. haritha (karpura-kua), C. longa (manjal), C. montana, C. zanthorrhiza (manja-kua) and C. zedoaria (chenthandan-kua) were studied and compared. Eventhough, all the species show similarity in their characters, striking differences were noticed with respect to morphological characters such as shape and size of mother rhizome and lateral branches, colour of the cut surface, aroma and taste of rhizomes etc. Differences were also observed in some anatomical characters such as nature of endodermoid layer, size and shape of starch grains, oil cells and curcumin cells, etc. Based on the distinct morpho-anatomical features, an artificial dichotomous key was proposed for taxonomic delimitation of the species with their rhizome

The present study was aimed to carry out a green synthesis of Silver Nano Particless by using marine micro algae and its characterization by SEM, EDAX, Particle analyzer and Zeta potential. Microalgae samples (Isochrysis galbana and Nannochloropsis sp.) were collected from phytoplankton laboratory, Tuticorin Research Centre of ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute. The culture media of I. galbana and Nannochloropsis sp. were taken for the preliminary synthesis of SNPs. Hence, Nannochloropsis sp. was not synthesized for its SNPs, I. galbana was selected for further study. Culture media, cell filtrate and supernatant of I. galbana were subjected to the SNPs synthesis in order to find out the maximum yield of silver with low chloride content. Among these, the supernatant of I. galbana showed maximum yield with low chloride content. It was confirmed by colorimetric reading at 450 nm. Synthesized SNPs from I. galbana contained 80.68% of silver and 15.25% of chloride as detected by EDAX analysis. Size of the SNPs was analyzed by particle analyzer and ranged from 16.6 to 205.3 nm and average size was 40.6 nm. Zeta potential of SNPs from I. galbana was -44.0 mV, which reveals the high stability of SNPs. This is the first authenticated work of I. galbana with respect to complete characterization of its SNPs

Assessment of Strength of Hollow Concrete Blocks with Holes Reinforced with Half Portion of Coconut Shells

Natural building materials are diminishing day by day. Hence economical alternatives of natural building materials are necessary for sustainable development. A hollow concrete block was developed to reduce the use of natural building materials. Agricultural waste products like coconut shells from the coconut industry have disposal problems causing environmental concerns. Various studies were done in the past, replacing a portion of the natural aggregates with broken coconut shells for manufacturing the hollow concrete blocks. In this study, we have developed a new method of forming the holes of hollow concrete blocks by placing stacks of half portion of coconut shells at the bottom with convex surface upwards to reinforce the holes by arch action. The results show that the coconut shell reinforced hollow concrete blocks have better strength as compared to open-graded hollow concrete blocks available in the market. Hardware Trojan Detection and Mitigation in NoC using Key authentication and Obfuscation Techniques

    Get PDF
Today's Multiprocessor System-on-Chip (MPSoC) contains many cores and integrated circuits. Due to the current requirements of communication, we make use of Network-on-Chip (NoC) to obtain high throughput and low latency. NoC is a communication architecture used in the processor cores to transfer  data from source to destination through several nodes. Since NoC deals with on-chip interconnection for data transmission, it will be a good prey for data leakage and other security attacks. One such way of attacking is done by a third-party vendor introducing Hardware Trojans (HTs) into routers of NoC architecture. This can cause packets to traverse in wrong paths, leak/extract information and cause Denial-of-Service (DoS) degrading the system performance. In this paper, a novel HT detection and mitigation approach using obfuscation and key-based authentication technique is proposed. The proposed technique prevents any illegal transitions between routers thereby protecting data from malicious activities, such as packet misrouting and information leakage. The proposed technique is evaluated on a 4x4 NoC architecture under synthetic traffic pattern and benchmarks, the hardware model is synthesized in Cadence Tool with 90nm technology. The introduced Hardware Trojan affects 8% of packets passing through infected router. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed technique prevents those 10-15% of packets infected from the HT effect. Our proposed work has negligible power and area overhead of 8.6% and  2% respectively

A survey was carried out during 2008-2009 period in the high ranges of Idukki district for isolation and in vitro screening of native Trichoderma spp. against Fusarium oxysporum and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, pathogens of small cardamom. All the 29 isolates were plated against the two selected plant pathogens in order to test their antagonistic potential and were found to be inhibitive to the growth of F. oxysporum and C. gloeosporioides. In dual cultures, out of the 29 isolates, on seventh day the isolates CT-4, CT-5, CT-10, CT-15, CT-22 and CT-23 showed above 85 per cent reduction on the growth of Fusarium and on tenth day the isolates CT-13, CT-18 and CT-23 showed above 34 per cent reduction on the growth of Colletotrichum. The biomass, spore production, the production potential of siderophore, indole acetic acid (IAA) and hydrogen cyanide (HCN) of these isolates were also assessed. Some of the isolates showed better HCN, IAA and siderophores production. This information can be employed for the exploitation of these biocontrol agents in the high ranges of Idukki district of Kerala for management of the two potential fungal pathogens of small cardamom
