    Football performance indicators review

    Get PDF

An understanding of information literacy programs should evolve to empower people and communities. These programmes would serve as training in those types of social technologies that enhance the capability of self-organization, social and democratic influence, alternative systems of consumption and services, and so on. Keeping in mind the social and technological attempts to face situations of scarcity caused by the present European economic crisis, the framework of this approach is in the main documents of the European Union concerning citizenship skills, as well as in social demands on open government (transparency, participation and collaboration). Based on the absence or inadequacy of the issues in the syllabi of most information literacy programmes, guidelines are suggested in order that they may be promoted by library systems and other public networks of socioeducational action, emphasizing learning for social innovation

Jellyfish distribution and abundance on the southern coast of the Iberian Peninsula.

Copyright de los autores.Jellyfish have a worldwide distribution and are unfortunately renowned for their direct adverse effects on human activities: tourism, fishing, and aquaculture. Although recent research suggests that jellyfish populations are increasing, evidence also shows that jellyfish abundances fluctuate with climatic cycles and spatial patterns. The ocean is impressively large on a human scale and considerably impacts the weather, temperature, and food supply of humans and other organisms. Despite its size and impact on the lives of every organism, the ocean remains a great unknown. Marine geography explores the environment of the oceans and seas and the relationship between society and these water bodies and investigates global challenges of changing ocean systems. However, until the beginning of the twenty-first century, there were few studies of the ocean in geography. This chapter deals with Marine Geography and the Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 14: life below water) to analyze the sightings of jellyfish and other gelatinous organisms on the southern coasts of the Iberian Peninsula (Andalusia region, southern Spain) by using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Our results show that jellyfish sightings and other gelatinous organisms show spatial and temporal patterns. Pelagia noctiluca was the most observed jellyfish species in the study area, mainly on the Mediterranean coast of Andalusia (southern Spain). Mapping jellyfish sightings can contribute to integrated coastal management regarding human activities and environmental problems

Social and digital empowerment of vulnerable library users of the Murcia Regional Library, Spain

    Get PDF
This research is based on two qualitative techniques applied to further understand the levels of digital risk or empowerment of vulnerable users visiting Murcia Regional Library. Library users and staff, social workers, and the three most recent library managers were interviewed; participatory observation was applied. We studied the exclusion factors of users, their motivation for using library services, and their information and digital competencies. We conclude that these persons use the library primarily as a center for both leisure and media Internet purposes and also occasionally to study or job search. Nevertheless, and above all, they value the library as a comfortable, normalized, and inclusive space, in which they feel integrated and where, without limits, they can stay for leisure or practical purpose

This publication results from the project NetSEA-GPT (C-ING-300-UGR23), funded by Consejería de Universidad, Investigación e Innovación and the European Union through the ERDF Andalusia Program 2021–2027, and the project C025/24 INCIBE-UGR, funded with European NextGeneration Funds.Given the high relevance and impact of ransomware in companies, organizations, and individuals around the world, coupled with the widespread adoption of mobile and IoT-related devices for both personal and professional use, the development of effective and efficient ransomware mitigation schemes is a necessity nowadays. Although a number of proposals are available in the literature in this line, most of them rely on machine-learning schemes that usually involve high computational cost and resource consumption. Since current personal devices are small and limited in capacities and resources, the mentioned schemes are generally not feasible and usable in practical environments. Based on a honeyfile detection solution previously introduced by the authors for Linux and Window OSs, this paper presents a ransomware detection tool for Android platforms where the use of trap files is combined with a reactive monitoring scheme, with three main characteristics: (I) the trap files are properly deployed around the target file system, (II) the FileObserver service is used to early alert events that access the traps following certain suspicious sequences, and (III) the experimental results show high performance of the solution in terms of detection accuracy and efficiency.Consejería de Universidad, Investigación e Innovación C-ING-300-UGR23ERDF Andalusia Program 2021–2027European NextGeneration Funds C025/24 INCIBE-UG

Information Literacy developments and issues in Spain

    Get PDF
The adoption of the information literacy (IL) agenda in Spain has been comparatively slow and fragmented due to cultural setbacks during the twentieth century. Since the late 1980s, however, developments in library services and staffing policies, reforms in education, and wide availability of ICTs, among other factors, have led to a brighter picture, with academic and public librarians all over the country engaged in IL activities for all types of users ± though school libraries still lag far behind. The main problems still to be addressed seem to be much the same as in most comparable countries: IL as a responsibility for all learning facilitators, social awareness of lifelong learning needs, training of IL trainers, assessing the individual achievements and the institutional outcomes of IL training programmes, and a clear understanding of the remit and rationale for different literacies within the information societ
