Abstract
This study focuses on the process and requirements of the main character in Danielle Steelâs novel A Good Woman, Annabelle in gaining freedom. It also presents the reflection of the stages and branches of feminism related to Annabelleâs character. Several theories are applied to sharpen this analysis. Feminism is the main theory in the analysis; it will be combined with deconstruction of binary opposition by Derrida, and theory of characterization to explore the main character, Annabelle. Furthermore, stages and some branches of feminism by Tong related to Annabelleâs character are also applied to specify the character of Annabelle as well. In this analysis, Annabelle is a symbol of modern and well determined woman among traditional ones. Patriarchal domination and traditional culture that captivate women in that era raise her awareness to be brave in taking action for her future. Womenâs oppression by men in that era develops her character to be independent woman.World War 1 gives opportunity to women in early 20th century especially Annabelle to expand her skill and actualize her dream as well. Analysis of The Black Fairy by Fenton Johnson
This essay examines a rare early twentieth-century childrenâs story about and geared towards African Americans: âThe Black Fairyâ by Fenton Johnson. âThe Black Fairyâ was published in The Upward Path (1920), an anthology designed as a âReader for Colored Childrenâ that contained poetry, essays, short stories, folklore, biographical sketches, and drawings by prominent African American writers, educators, and other personalities of the time. Through a four -part analysis, including how the story fits into literary history, the ways in which the story responds to its historical and cultural context, the âcultural workâ of the text, and an exploration of the way that the culture regarded children, the essay shows how this fantasy story helped children of this era to understand the history of slavery and encouraged feelings of brotherly love among all races
Subtitling Analysis Of Annabelle Movie By Gary Dauberman
The research aims at (1) classifing the subtitling strategies found in the Annabelle movie and (2) describing the accuracy of the subtitiling analysis in the Annabelle movie. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research. The object of the study is the subtitling strategy in Annabelle movie. The data of this study are utterances consisting subtitling strategies and the data source are movie script of English and Indonesian entitled Annabelle movie by Gary Dauberman. The researcher uses the documentation to collect the data. Then, to prove the validity of the data, the writer uses the triangulation where the data sources are from the movie script and informant. The data are analyzed by comparing the method. The result of the research shows that there are 48 data or 4,99% used expansion strategies, 138 data or 14,36% used paraphrase strategy, 285 data or 29,66% used transfer strategy, 166 data or 17,27% used imitation strategy, 1 datum or 0,10% used transcription strategy, dislocation strategy not find data in there, 9 data or 0,94% used condensation strategy, 5 data or 0,52% used decimation strategy, 309 data or 32,16% used deletion strategy, and resignation strategy not find data in there. The acccuracy of the data shows that the raters gets 3 score 812 data or 84,49%, 97 data or 10,09% get score 2, and the last 52 data or 5,42% get 1 score
Good Gracious Annabelle
Annabelle came to our house to spend the holidays, Much to our dismay, decided she would stay, The neighborhood is quarrelling and the reasonâs very plain When Annabelle starts gossiping, youâll hear them all exclaim:
Good gracious Annabelle how you love to tattle, Youâve got the neighborhood shaking like a rattle, Just because you heard that Mister Jones had left his wife, Why should you tell evâry one about their married life, keep quiet; Good gracious Annabelle, have a little pity, Good gracious Annabelle, now youâre in the city Donât tell evâry one you see that you came from Kankakee And that your folks run a beanery
Annabelle would go around the neighborhood each day, Hear what they would say, then give it all away. She even scandalized our cat, âcause it stayed out all night No wonder when they saw her, evâry one cried out in fright.

Good gracious Annabelle how you love to tattle, Youâve got the neighborhood shaking like a rattle, Donât think all the conversation, dear, depends on you, Give someone else a chance to say a word or two, keep quiet, Good gracious Annabelle, have a little pity, Good gracious Annabelle, now youâre in the city When youâre in a Caberet, donât ask the orchestra to play The latest tune called âDolly Gray,
A New Proof Rule for Almost-Sure Termination
An important question for a probabilistic program is whether the probability
mass of all its diverging runs is zero, that is that it terminates "almost
surely". Proving that can be hard, and this paper presents a new method for
doing so; it is expressed in a program logic, and so applies directly to source
code. The programs may contain both probabilistic- and demonic choice, and the
probabilistic choices may depend on the current state.
As do other researchers, we use variant functions (a.k.a.
"super-martingales") that are real-valued and probabilistically might decrease
on each loop iteration; but our key innovation is that the amount as well as
the probability of the decrease are parametric.
We prove the soundness of the new rule, indicate where its applicability goes
beyond existing rules, and explain its connection to classical results on
denumerable (non-demonic) Markov chains.Comment: V1 to appear in PoPL18. This version collects some existing text into
new example subsection 5.5 and adds a new example 5.6 and makes further
remarks about uncountable branching. The new example 5.6 relates to work on
lexicographic termination methods, also to appear in PoPL18 [Agrawal et al,

Platforms, Markets and Innovation: An Introduction
The emergence of platforms, whether used inside firms, across supply chains, or as building blocks that act as engines of innovation and redefine industrial architectures, is a novel phenomenon affecting most industries today, from products to services. This book, the first of its kind dedicated to the emerging field of platform research, presents leading-edge contributions from top international scholars from strategy, economics, innovation, organizations and knowledge management. This book represents a milestone for the vibrant field of platform research. It is the outcome of an ambitious international collaboration, regrouping and making connections between the research work of 24 scholars, affiliated with 19 universities, in seven countries over four continents. The novel insights assembled in the 14 chapters of this volume constitute a fundamental step towards an empirically based, nuanced understanding of the nature of platforms and the implications they hold for the evolution of industrial innovation. But what exactly are platforms? Why should we care about them? And, why do we need a book about them
