This paper analyzes about the process and sanctions for adultery in the Customary institutions of Batanghari according to Islamic law. The method used sociology of law with a qualitative approach. The technique of collecting information uses observation, interviews and literary studies. The analysis technique uses an interactive model. The results showed, the resolution process and sanctions adultery in the Customary Institution of Batanghari, are:1) adultery pairs will be called by customary stakeholders (niniek mamak) and collected by tuo-tuo tenganai;2) if both have confessed, the niniek mamak, syara’ officials and the village head will determine the sanctions in the form of fines/debts and the time of payment; 3) payment times: 1x7, 2x7, 3x7 (3 weeks). If, the perpetrator has not paid, then he will be expelled from the village, because it is considered that he does not respect customary law. The sanctions for the perpetrator of adultery in that customary law is not the same as the Islamic criminal law, namely the stoning penalty for adultery. However, substantively its does not contradict Islamic law because the Al-Quran and Sunnah do not show the prohibition of imposing sanctions that are less than the ones stipulated by sharia, even Islamic law calls for the perpetrator to be forgiven or to be given a punishment that does not exceed the perpetrator's actions

Curating Knowledge, Creating Change: University Knowledge Center, Kosovo National Transition

    Get PDF
A collaborative system design initiative at the University for Business and Technology in Kosovo aims to make local knowledge visible and to enhance local knowledge creation, within the university and throughout the country. Since its inception in 2015, design activities aimed to activate systems through modeling the global knowledge landscape, technology enabled systems, and human activity processes. Within the framework of Informed Systems, application of Informed Learning theory and Information Experience Design (IXD) guided prototyping systems that informed building an institutional repository named UBT Knowledge Center. The knowledge vision anticipates that sustained curation, organization, discovery, access, and usage processes will accelerate academic engagement, national development, and global visibility, over time and with practice to further theory-to-practice and practice-to-theory

Information literacy and informed learning: conceptual innovations for IL research and practice futures

    Get PDF
Our paper draws together conceptual innovations emerging from the work of a group of researchers focussed on the relational approach to information literacy, more recently labelled ‘informed learning’. Team members have been working together in various configurations for periods ranging from seven to seventeen years. Our collaborative approach continues to yield new concepts and constructs which we believe to be of value to ongoing research and practice. Some of the ideas discussed have been previouly published, while others are being put forward for the first time. All are significant in that they together form new constructs that have emerged from a focus on the relational approach to information literacy. In this paper, Christine Bruce introduces the background to this work and the contributing researchers. Then the individual authors present the key directions which they have developed and are leading, typically working with one or more of the wider network. The key ideas presented are: The expressive window for information literacy (Mandy Lupton); information experience design (Elham Sayyad Abdi); cross-contextuality and experienced identity (Andrew Demasson); informed learning design (Clarence Maybee); spaces for inclusive informed learning (Hilary Hughes); and informed systems (Mary Somerville and Anita Mirjamdotter). In each piece, authors reflect on what the idea is about, where it came from and what it might mean for research and practice

Prevention, Identification, and Management of Stunting through Health Education and Entrepreneurial Capacity Building in Argomulyo Village, Sleman, Yogyakarta

    Get PDF
Stunting is one of the world’s most serious public health issues, with significant morbidity rates, especially in Indonesia. Low public awareness of stunting and low family income are two major causes discovered especially in Special District of Yogyakarta. This community service project was undertaken to address this issue. Following the completion of the situation analysis and problem identification, a community-based problem-solving strategy in the form of health and entrepreneurship education was developed. Three medical experts provided prenatal health education to pregnant women, followed by an ultrasound screening to detect any early anomalies related to stunting. For other members of the community, experienced entrepreneurs give entrepreneurial education, which was supported by workshops for them to immediately practice the material that had been presented. It was intended that the community’s excitement would raise health awareness about stunting and the level of the local economy, allowing the stunting problem in this region to be ameliorated. It was found that the provision of health education programs had succeeded in increasing the level of community knowledge regarding stunting. Ultrasound examination found that all pregnant women in the area had normal pregnancies and fetal conditions. Community-based interventions through health education and increasing economic welfare based on tourism villages can be used to prevent stunting

Mapping rheumatoid arthritis susceptibility through integrative bioinformatics and genomics

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease that influences several organs and tissues, especially the synovial joints, and is associated with multiple genetic and environmental factors. Numerous databases provide information on the relationship between a specific gene and the disease pathogenesis. However, it is important to further prioritize biological risk genes for downstream development and validation.  This study aims to map RA-association genetic variation using genome-wide association study (GWAS) databases and prioritize influential genes in RA pathogenesis based on functional annotations. These functional annotations include missense/nonsense mutations, cis-expression quantitative trait locus (cis-eQTL), overlap knockout mouse phenotype (KMP), protein-protein interaction (PPI), molecular pathway analysis (MPA), and primary immunodeficiency (PID). 119 genetic variants mapped had a potential high risk for RA based on functional scoring. The top eight risk genes of RA are TYK2 and IFNGR2, followed by TNFRSF1A, IL12RB1 and CD40, C5, NCF2, and IL6R. These candidate genes are potential biomarkers for RA that can aid drug discovery and disease diagnosis

Early Impacts of COVID-19 on Nutrition Intake and Household Dietary Diversity in Kupang District, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia

    Get PDF
One of the social problems solving the direct impact on the community is overcoming household food security due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to analyze household food security during the COVID-19 pandemic and link it to the nutrient intake and nutritional status of children under five in the Kupang district area. This cross-sectional study is based on a survey conducted on the Timorese population in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, from May to October 2021. Data on household dietary diversity was collected through the 24-hour food recall using the household dietary diversity score (HDDS). The study sample was taken from Timorese population families with toddlers under five years, and 1,444 families voluntarily participated in this study. Subjects were taken at each public health using a simple random method. This study analyzes the Spearman correlation test with the HDDS and the proportion of food expenditure. A 63% of households had a balance of less cost (<50%) with an average of 63.9. Generally, households (90.4%) had a pretty good diet diversity score. Food groups that were relatively highly consumed by most households included cereals (100%), sugar and sweeteners (90.2%), oils and fats (93.7%), seasonings, and spices (89.4%). A significant effect with p<0.05 was on HDDS during the COVID-19 pandemic. The food consumption score is another indicator widely used in determining household food security. Therefore, it is necessary to revalidate tests in further studies of these indicators
