THE INFLUENCE OF MACROECONOMIC ANNOUNCEMENTS INTO VIETNAMESE STOCK MARKET VOLATILITY

    Get PDF
Market volatility is influenced by many different factors and researchers are discovering and proving impact of those factors in their studies. Macroeconomic announcement is an important factor to market’s volatility, proxied by the famous GARCH model. Inspired by this proven statement, this paper applies the same methodology with the extension of different variables and estimates those factors against the Vietnamese market’s uncertainty. During the observed period of six years, Vietnamese Central Bank governs many monetary policies aiming to stabilise the market and encourage trading. By applying GARCH model, this paper addresses the volatility in Vietnamese market as affected by said announcements. Empirical part of this thesis shows that in general, the market is influenced by U.S.’s significant news announcements, namely CPI and GDP. Otherwise, this study reports that other news announcements from Vietnam and US do not create significant impact into the market. Interestingly, interest rate changing decision has no impact into the said market despite being the commonly influential tool for policy makers to govern the economy.fi=Opinnäytetyö kokotekstinä PDF-muodossa.|en=Thesis fulltext in PDF format.|sv=Lärdomsprov tillgängligt som fulltext i PDF-format

The Clean Energy and Sustainable Development laboratory – CleanED – was established in December 2014 with support from USTH and French Embassy in Hanoi. In September 2015, CleanED lab counted five researchers from France and Vietnam, five doctoral fellows and two internationally qualified staff. This international and interdisciplinary research team gets the mission to contribute to the green growth of the energy sector in Vietnam. Its expertise ranges from engineering to public policy on:Natural resources characterization and managementBiomass and waste to energy conversion process technologiesEnergy systems optimization from smart grid to national plan

Microsimulation of impacts of tax and transfer in Viet Nam: Feasibility study

This paper assesses the feasibility of simulating the distributional impacts produced by various tax and transfer instruments in Viet Nam. Viet Nam's system of tax and transfer policies underwent frequent changes, in terms of diversity and adjustment scope. The most important source of data is the Viet Nam Household Living Standards Survey. Investigation of the survey data shows the wide-ranging feasibility of simulating tax and benefit instruments, though more details are available for transfer instruments. The microsimulation should thus focus more on the transfer instruments, which invites interests from a range of government agencies, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations

The Relationship between Organizational Culture, Job Satisfaction, and Commitment of Lecturers at Universities

Purpose: The study aimed to determine the influence of factors on job satisfaction and the relationship between satisfaction, organizational culture, and the organizational commitment of lecturers at universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Design/Methodology/Approach: This was a quantitative study in which the authors compile theories, analyze and synthesize scales for research concepts, and propose research models. The online survey collected 532 answer sheets from professors and lecturers from universities in Ho Chi Minh City, of which 525 were valid and included in SmartPLS 3 to evaluate the validity and reliability of the scale and to analyze the relationship among the concepts in the suggested model. Findings: The results show that several factors significantly impact employee satisfaction in the field of education, such as job promotion, leadership or supervision, working environment, income, and the job itself. In addition, both satisfaction and organizational culture impact organizational commitment. The study's findings have implications for educational institutions, lecturers, policymakers, researchers, and funding agencies. They highlight the importance of factors like leadership development and organizational culture in enhancing job satisfaction and commitment among lecturers, offering valuable insights for improving the educational environment in Ho Chi Minh City and beyond. Originality: The results aligned with previous studies presented in the literature section. However, this study revealed some specific characteristics of lecturers in universities in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where lecturers focused on personal development but were committed to the organization via job satisfaction and culture. Doi: 10.28991/ESJ-2023-SIED2-021 Full Text: PD

Disturbance observer-based controller for inverted pendulum with uncertainties: Linear matrix inequality approach

    Get PDF
A new approach based on linear matrix inequality (LMI) technique for stabilizing the inverted pendulum is developed in this article. The unknown states are estimated as well as the system is stabilized simultaneously by employing the observer-based controller. In addition, the impacts of the uncertainties are taken into consideration in this paper. Unlike the previous studies, the uncertainties in this study are unnecessary to satisfy the bounded constraints. These uncertainties will be converted into the unknown input disturbances, and then a disturbance observer-based controller will be synthesized to estimate the information of the unknown states, eliminate completely the effects of the uncertainties, and stabilize inverted pendulum system. With the support of lyapunov methodology, the conditions for constructing the observer and controller under the framework of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) are derived in main theorems. Finally, the simulations for system with and without uncertainties are exhibited to show the merit and effectiveness of the proposed methods
