Displaying the status of industrial devices and their supporting data in augmented reality
For industrial devices, the diagnostic system is one of the most important parts of the industrial facility. If it works well, it can prevent loss in production. The new worker must often complete several training courses to understand how the diagnostic system works and how to use it. The system described in this thesis can help with the worker’s training. This thesis aims to create a functional prototype application for data transmission from industrial devices to the visualization device HoloLens 2. It shows the data on the specific places in the facility according to the location of the transmitted industrial devices. Industrial machines can be both fixed or mobile. Their detection ensures Vuforia software. For the visualization, the user can choose the type of data visualization according to offered patterns. The communication provides MQTT protocol, and the messages are divided into two groups control and data. In the evaluation part, several verifying tests that validated the quality of transmission were done. The individual programs are written for every kind of device in C#, and the HoloLens 2 development is possible thanks to Unity editor and the MRTK library
Regional climate projections for the South West of Western Australia to simulate changes in mean and extreme rainfall and temperature
The southwest of Western Australia (SWWA) is an area of significant agricultural production and an internationally recognised biodiversity hotspot. The region has experienced marked rainfall reductions over the last four decades and there is uncertainty as to the extent of future changes to the hydrological regime. Hence, there is a need for regional climate information in SWWA to better inform climate adaptation strategies for several key sectors, including agriculture and forestry. The overarching aim of this project is to provide such information, with a focus on changes in rainfall and temperature extremes.
The Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model was used as a regional climate model for SWWA. Given the known sensitivity of WRF to physics options and driving data, the most appropriate physical parameterisations were tested on a yearly time-scale. Based on these findings, a 30-year climatology was produced for SWWA (1981-2010) at a 5 km resolution by downscaling ERA-Interim reanalysis. Comparisons against observations showed that the model was able to simulate the daily, seasonal and annual variation of temperature and precipitation well, including extreme events. The model was then used to downscale an ensemble of 4 general circulation models (GCMs) for the historical period (1970- 1999) and compared against both observations and the GCMs. WRF was shown to add value to the GCM data for 3 out of the 4 GCMs evaluated, particularly in the spatio-temporal distribution of winter rainfall.
Finally, the ensemble was run from 2030-2059 to examine projected climate change in SWWA. Results project that maximum temperature extremes will increase, consistent with mean changes however the variance of maximum temperatures is not projected to change significantly. While mean minimum temperatures are not projected to increase as much as maximum temperatures, there is strong evidence that the variability of minimum temperatures will increase. This has the potential to raise the likelihood of night time temperature extremes. Simulations project a reduction in rainfall, particularly during winter. This decline is related to fewer frontal systems traversing the SWWA and hence fewer rain days. The study found no evidence to suggest that the intensity of rain bearing winter storms is likely to change
Intelligent Cell Spray System
This thesis describes the process of developing an intelligent skin cell sprayer used to treat various types of burns. The main task of the device is to distribute the therapeutic substance over the burn evenly. Several possible solutions are described for such a problem which include estimating the speed of movement of the device during application and determining the absolute position relative to the patient’s body. The second solution seems to be ideal in terms of spray quality and offers additional benefits that will help develop the therapeutic substance. However, other issues related to the operation requirements need to be addressed, such as maintaining a consistent distance between the patient’s body and the applicator. Or perhaps the ability to use the device easily and effectively without prior training. During the project, two prototypes were built. Individual problems were discussed with surgeons, who provided expert perspectives on the issue and precisely defined the problems that this device should solve
Evaluation of a WRF ensemble using GCM boundary conditions to quantify mean and extreme climate for the southwest of Western Australia (1970-1999)
A high resolution (5 km), single initialization, 30 year (1970–1999) Weather Research and Forecast regional climate model (RCM) ensemble for southwest Western Australia (SWWA) is evaluated. The article focuses on the ability of the RCM to simulate winter cold fronts, which are the main source of rainfall for the region, and assesses the spatial and temporal characteristics of climate extremes within the region's cereal crop growing season. To explore uncertainty, a four-member ensemble was run, using lateral boundary conditions from general circulation models (GCMs) of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 3; ECHAM5, Model for Interdisciplinary Research on Climate 3.2 (MIROC 3.2), Community Climate System Model version 3 (CCSM3) and Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) mk3.5. Simulations are evaluated against gridded observations of temperature and precipitation and atmospheric conditions are compared to a simulation using ERA-Interim reanalysis boundary conditions, which is used as a surrogate truth. Results show that generally, the RCM simulations were able to represent the climatology of SWWA well, however differences in the positioning of the subtropical high pressure belt were apparent which influenced the number of fronts traversing the region and hence winter precipitation biases. Systematic temperature biases were present in some ensemble members and the RCM was found to be colder than the driving GCM in all simulations. Biases impacted model skill in representing temperature extremes and this was particularly apparent in the MIROC-forced simulation, which was the worst performing RCM for both temperature and precipitation. The dynamical causes of the biases are explored and findings show that nonetheless, the RCM provides added value, particularly in the spatio-temporal representation of wet season rainfall
Polityka wizerunkowa Haszymidzkiego Królestwa Jordanii ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem roli pierwszej damy
Impression Management Policy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is the image creation of this country within and outside its borders. The main actors in this process are the King and the Queen. This image is diversely interpreted and every so often is on the verge of suppressing the reality. In Jordan, the mission of the King in creating a plausible image of his country seems to be largely complicated. The monarch has to reconcile different groups of people, such as conservatives or refugees with economical dependency to the USA, Israel or Saudi Arabia and Iraq. The Hashemite Monarchy is a particular case among the Middle Eastern countries, because the role of the Queen in public life is crucial. With the exception of the King, photographs of the royal family, or even the Queen alone, are often encountered. The present Jordanian Queen, Rania Al‑Abdullah, is one of the most recognized Middle Eastern women, mostly because of her skilful promotion in worldwide media. The Queen is chiefly promoting education, women and children’s rights and charity organizations. The image of the country created by the Queen is parallel to the King’s activity and also affects his image positivelyArkadiusz Nyzi
