Spin--spin critical point correlation functions for the 2D random bond Ising and Potts models

We compute the combined two and three loop order correction to the spin-spin correlation functions for the 2D Ising and q-states Potts model with random bonds at the critical point. The procedure employed is the renormalisation group approach for the perturbation series around the conformal field theories representing the pure models. We obtain corrections for the correlations functions which produce crossover in the amplitude but don't change the critical exponent in the case of the Ising model and which produce a shift in the critical exponent, due to randomness, in the case of the Potts model. Comparison with numerical data is discussed briefly.Comment: 10pp, latex, PAR--LPTHE 94/1

Anomalously slow relaxation in the diluted Ising model below the percolation threshold

The relaxational behaviour of the bond-diluted two-dimensional Ising model below the percolation threshold is studied using Monte Carlo techniques. The non-equilibrium decay of the magnetization,M(t), and the relaxation of the equilibrium spin-spin autocorrelation function, C(t), are monitored. The behaviour of both C(t) and M(t) is found to satisfy the Kohlrausch law of a stretched exponential with the same temperature-dependent exponent. The Kohlrausch exponent does not appear to depend on the bond concentration. The results indicate that we are not yet in the asymptotic regime, even when C(t) and M(t) are less than 10^{-4}.Comment: 33 pages, including 10 figures, tex; hard-copy available on request from [email protected] To appear in Physica A (Statistical and Theoretical Physics

(The purpose of the paper is to highlight the relationship between the problems of agro-industrial waste management and environment preservation through the prism of the national and global vision. The following methods were used in the research: systems approach, dialectical, unity and struggle of contradictions, causal-investigatory, theoretical generalization and comparison. It was substantiated that the efficiency of agro-industrial production and the state of the environment are inevitably interconnected and are often diametrically opposed. It is proved that the balance between agro-industrial production and the state of the environment will provide a sufficient quantity of agricultural products, an acceptable income for producers of such products and an optimal environment for the population.

Coupled Minimal Models with and without Disorder

We analyse in this article the critical behavior of MM q1q_1-state Potts models coupled to NN q2q_2-state Potts models (q1,q2[2..4]q_1,q_2\in [2..4]) with and without disorder. The technics we use are based on perturbed conformal theories. Calculations have been performed at two loops. We already find some interesting situations in the pure case for some peculiar values of MM and NN with new tricritical points. When adding weak disorder, the results we obtain tend to show that disorder makes the models decouple. Therefore, no relations emerges, at a perturbation level, between for example the disordered q1×q2q_1\times q_2-state Potts model and the two disordered q1,q2q_1,q_2-state Potts models (q1q2q_1\ne q_2), despite their central charges are similar according to recent numerical investigations.Comment: 45 pages, Latex, 3 PS figure

Weak Randomness for large q-State Potts models in Two Dimensions

We have studied the effect of weak randomness on q-state Potts models for q > 4 by measuring the central charges of these models using transfer matrix methods. We obtain a set of new values for the central charges and then show that some of these values are related to one another by a factorization law.Comment: 8 pages, Latex, no figure

Critical region of the random bond Ising model

We describe results of the cluster algorithm Special Purpose Processor simulations of the 2D Ising model with impurity bonds. Use of large lattices, with the number of spins up to 10610^6, permitted to define critical region of temperatures, where both finite size corrections and corrections to scaling are small. High accuracy data unambiguously show increase of magnetization and magnetic susceptibility effective exponents β\beta and γ\gamma, caused by impurities. The MM and χ\chi singularities became more sharp, while the specific heat singularity is smoothed. The specific heat is found to be in a good agreement with Dotsenko-Dotsenko theoretical predictions in the whole critical range of temperatures.Comment: 11 pages, 16 figures (674 KB) by request to authors: [email protected] or [email protected], LITP-94/CP-0

Ising and Potts Models on Quenched Random Gravity Graphs

    Get PDF
We report on single-cluster Monte Carlo simulations of the Ising, 4-state Potts and 10-state Potts models on quenched ensembles of planar, tri-valent random graphs. We confirm that the first-order phase transition of the 10-state Potts model on regular 2D lattices is softened by the quenched connectivity disorder represented by the random graphs and that the exponents of the Ising and 4-state Potts models are altered from their regular lattice counterparts. The behaviour of spin models on such graphs is thus more analogous to models with quenched bond disorder than to Poisonnian random lattices, where regular lattice critical behaviour persists. Using a wide variety of estimators we measure the critical exponents for all three models, and compare the exponents with predictions derived from taking a quenched limit in the KPZ formula for the Ising and 4-state Potts models. Earlier simulations suggested that the measured values for the 10-state Potts model were very close to the predicted quenched exponents of the {\it four}-state Potts models. The analysis here, which employs a much greater range of estimators and also benefits from greatly improved statistics, still supports these numerical values.Comment: 14 pages (latex) + 6 latex tables + 5 figure
