This study investigates the climate change discourse as this is a highly debated topic nowadays. A case study is revealed in this paper, which consists of applying the critical discourse analysis method at Raiffeisen Bank, one of the most important international banks. The findings of this study disclose that misleading messages are construed in climate change discourse by using some persuasion means in order to support the statement of the discourse. The study was conducted by combining a wide variety of sources, such as articles, strategies, and reports.climate change, discourse analysis, Raiffeisen Bank

The Right of Children to Know their Parents – a Constitutive Element of the Child’s Identity

Given that in the last century we have witnessed a substantial development of human rights and children’s rights implicitly, and given the progress of international and national regulations in this field, the present study is meant to add to the debate surrounding the right of children to know their parents as a constitutive element of their identity. During the writing of this study, we took into consideration the recent opinions in doctrine and the regulations in this field as well as the practical implications of this field of law. The analysis is not strictly focused on the law, but it has an interdisciplinary quality, combining several methods of research in order to highlight the role that the right of the child to know his/her past and that of his family in his formative year and the development of self-conscience. The importance of this study lies in the results of our research and in the new values attributed to the right of children to know their parents, as well as the arguments made concerning the controversial problem of discordance which may appear between the legal or apparent identity of the child and the real identity in case of adoption and artificial insemination

Qualitative changes in the entrepreneurial sector in emerging territorial systems – Craiova case study

    Get PDF
The goal of the present study is to analyze the complex economic processes within emerging territorial systems, developed around big cities. Economic ventures concentrated inside these urban clusters in a short span of time, and they registered a spectacular evolution, compared to the neighboring areas. Intensification of the linkages between cities with more than 300,000 inhabitants in Romania and the surrounding areas led to the individualization of territorial systems apart, with a spectacular evolution of economic-social processes, which turn those systems into the most dynamic territorial structures. The present study means to identify the causes of those complex processes within emerging territorial systems, the manner of functional organization of the space, and the causes that determine the spectacular evolution of the economic processes within emerging systems

Recent Deforestation Pattern Changes (2000-2017) in the Central Carpathians:A Gray-Level Co-Occurrence Matrix and Fractal Analysis Approach

    Get PDF
The paper explores the distribution of tree cover and deforested areas in the Central Carpathians in the central-east part of Romania, in the context of the anthropogenic forest disturbances and sustainable forest management. The study aims to evaluate the spatiotemporal changes in deforested areas due to human pressure in the Carpathian Mountains, a sensitive biodiverse European ecosystem. We used an analysis of satellite imagery with Landsat-7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (Landsat-7 ETM+) from the University of Maryland (UMD) Global Forest Change (GFC) dataset. The workflow started with the determination of tree cover and deforested areas from 2000–2017, with an overall accuracy of 97%. For the monitoring of forest dynamics, a Gray-Level Co-occurrence Matrix analysis (Entropy) and fractal analysis (Fractal Fragmentation-Compaction Index and Tug-of-War Lacunarity) were utilized. The increased fragmentation of tree cover (annually 2000–2017) was demonstrated by the highest values of the Fractal Fragmentation-Compaction Index, a measure of the degree of disorder (Entropy) and heterogeneity (Lacunarity). The principal outcome of the research reveals the dynamics of disturbance of tree cover and deforested areas expressed by the textural and fractal analysis. The results obtained can be used in the future development and adaptation of forestry management policies to ensure sustainable management of exploited forest areas

Infected pancreatic necrosis: outcomes and clinical predictors of mortality. A post hoc analysis of the MANCTRA-1 international study

: The identification of high-risk patients in the early stages of infected pancreatic necrosis (IPN) is critical, because it could help the clinicians to adopt more effective management strategies. We conducted a post hoc analysis of the MANCTRA-1 international study to assess the association between clinical risk factors and mortality among adult patients with IPN. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression models were used to identify prognostic factors of mortality. We identified 247 consecutive patients with IPN hospitalised between January 2019 and December 2020. History of uncontrolled arterial hypertension (p = 0.032; 95% CI 1.135-15.882; aOR 4.245), qSOFA (p = 0.005; 95% CI 1.359-5.879; aOR 2.828), renal failure (p = 0.022; 95% CI 1.138-5.442; aOR 2.489), and haemodynamic failure (p = 0.018; 95% CI 1.184-5.978; aOR 2.661), were identified as independent predictors of mortality in IPN patients. Cholangitis (p = 0.003; 95% CI 1.598-9.930; aOR 3.983), abdominal compartment syndrome (p = 0.032; 95% CI 1.090-6.967; aOR 2.735), and gastrointestinal/intra-abdominal bleeding (p = 0.009; 95% CI 1.286-5.712; aOR 2.710) were independently associated with the risk of mortality. Upfront open surgical necrosectomy was strongly associated with the risk of mortality (p < 0.001; 95% CI 1.912-7.442; aOR 3.772), whereas endoscopic drainage of pancreatic necrosis (p = 0.018; 95% CI 0.138-0.834; aOR 0.339) and enteral nutrition (p = 0.003; 95% CI 0.143-0.716; aOR 0.320) were found as protective factors. Organ failure, acute cholangitis, and upfront open surgical necrosectomy were the most significant predictors of mortality. Our study confirmed that, even in a subgroup of particularly ill patients such as those with IPN, upfront open surgery should be avoided as much as possible. Study protocol registered in ClinicalTrials.Gov (I.D. Number NCT04747990)

Without any doubt, the most important principle which governing the child protection is the principle of best interests of the child. Besides, the protection of this interest is the stated purpose of all the international conventions and the domestic legislation. Despite this, of his importance, the principle is only observed, without content or to enjoy some conceptualization, the criteria assessing being left to the discretion of the court and the competent authorities. It was supported in the literature that the establishmentof an invariable content for all issues incident to the child protection might not be possible through the light of variety situations can find each child. In this way, the present study identifies a priority order of those assessing criteria in the matter of the child relations with parents and extended family. As the exertion of the parental rights and obligations must be governed by the same principle, the identification of those criteria isrealized analyzing the internal case law in this field and ECHR jurisprudence. The papers originality consist in the fact that the research tries to establish the content of this principle, without straightening the action area of the competent decisional authorities (public authorities, judges), the conclusion of this study beingaddressed also to the doctrinaires, also to the practicants
