Evaluation of LoRaWAN Network Coverage Using Custom Made Device

ABSTRACT: The topic of this thesis is to study the Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) networks. It will be focused on the different LPWA technologies that will be explained later in detail: SigFox, LoRaWAN and NB-IoT. In the practical part, the functionality and coverage of BUT gateway (gateway of the University of Brno) will be evaluated using custom made device. These results will be further compared with the public The Things Network (formed by three gateways, the University gateway and other two). The outcome of this thesis will be to evaluate the real-life implementation of LoRaWAN technology in terms of coverage.RESUMEN: El tema de este proyecto es estudiar las redes de área extensa de baja potencia (LPWAN). En primer lugar, se prestará atención a las tecnologías LPWA que se describirán en detalle: SigFox, LoRaWAN y NB-IoT. En la parte práctica, con un dispositivo personalizado se evaluará la funcionalidad y la cobertura de la puerta de enlace BUT (puerta de enlace de la Universidad de Brno). Estos resultados serán comparados con la red pública TTN (formada por tres puertas de enlace, puerta de enlace de la Universidad y dos más). Holographic Ward identities for symmetry breaking in two dimensions

We investigate symmetry breaking in two-dimensional field theories which have a holographic gravity dual. Being at large N, the Coleman theorem does not hold and Goldstone bosons are expected. We consider the minimal setup to describe a conserved current and a charged operator, and we perform holographic renormalization in order to find the correct Ward identities describing symmetry breaking. This involves some subtleties related to the different boundary conditions that a vector can have in the three-dimensional bulk. We establish which is the correct prescription that yields, after renormalization, the same Ward identities as in higher dimensions.Comment: 20 pages. v2 comments added. Version to appear in JHE

Free Fall of a Quantum Many-Body System

The quantum version of the free fall problem is a topic usually skipped in undergraduate Quantum Mechanics courses because its discussion would require to deal with wavepackets built on the Airy functions -- a notoriously difficult computation. Here, on the contrary, we show that the problem can be nicely simplified both for a single particle and for general many-body systems making use of a gauge transformation of the wavefunction corresponding to a change of the reference frame, from the laboratory frame of reference to the one comoving with the falling system. Within this approach, the quantum mechanics problem of a particle in an external gravitational potential -- counterpart of the free fall of a particle in Classical Mechanics each student is used to see from high-school -- reduces to a much simpler one where there is no longer gravitational potential in the Schr\"{o}dinger equation. It is instructive to see that the same procedure applies also to many-body systems subjected to a two-body interparticle potential, function of the relative distances between the particles. This topic provides then a handful and pedagogical example of a quantum many-body system whose dynamics can be analytically described in simple terms.Comment: 14 pages, 1 figur

Comparing within-person effects from multivariate longitudinal models.

Several multivariate models are motivated to answer similar developmental questions regarding within-person (intraindividual) effects between two or more constructs over time, yet the within-person effects tested by each model are distinct. In this paper, we clarify the types of within-person inferences that can be made from each model. Whereas previous research has focused on detecting whether within-person effects exist over development, the present work can be used to understand the nature of these relationships. We compare each modeling approach using an example investigating the concurrent development of mother-child closeness and mother-child conflict. Our findings demonstrate that fundamentally different conclusions about developmental processes may be reached depending on which model is used, and we demonstrate a framework for making sense of seemingly contradictory findings

Este trabajo tiene como objeto desarrollar un modelo de capacitación soportado en una teoría de aprendizaje como es la constructivista, con un enfoque de Andragogía (pedagogía del adulto). The Colombian Banking Sector: Analysis from Relative Efficiency

The banking sector is that sector of the modern economy that is primarily called upon to play the important role of intermediation between the surplus agents and the deficit agents. Based on this fact, this research presents and analyzes the behavior of banks in Colombia since 2002 and up to 2016 (15 years) through the application of data envelopment analysis, a nonparametric methodology of advanced linear programming, which generates a single efficiency indicator for each unit studied in each period, optimizing multiple resources (inputs) and multiple products (outputs). One aspect of the results shows that for the year 2014, 71% of the banks were efficient, this being the highest result within the period studied
