Building a test bed for simulation analysis for the internet of things

The current Internet of Things (IoT) solutions require support at different network layers, from higher level applications to lower level media-based support. The dissertation presents some of the main application requirements for IoT, characterizing architecture, Quality of Service (QoS) features, security mechanisms, discovery service resources and web integration options and the protocols that can be used to provide them (e.g. CoAP, XMPP, DDS, MQTT-SN, AMQP). As examples of lower-level requirements and protocols, several wireless network characteristics (e.g. ZigBee, Z-Wave, BLE, LoRaWAN, SigFox, IEEE 802.11af, NB-IoT) are presented. The variety of possible applications scenarios and the heterogeneity of enabling technologies combined with a large number of sensors and devices, suggests the need for simulation and modeling tactics to describe how the previous requirements can be met. As a potential solution, the creation of simulation models and the usage of the OMNET++ simulation tool to enable meaningful IoT simulation is discussed. Através do presente estudo foi possível estender a amplitude latitudinal, retificar sua ocorrência em relação à profundidade e registrar sua fecundidade

Contribuições da filosofia da ciência, na perspectiva de Popper e Lakatos, para o estudo da inovação: uma análise das teorias neoclássica schumpeteriana e neo-schumpeteriana

The Schumpeterian and neo-schumpeterian theories represent pillars on which the subject of innovation developed and gained expression. Moreover, innovation is an independent area both in national and international congresses. The objective of this essay is to investigate – from two criteria of delimitation (Popper and Lakatos) – the scientificity of innovation theory. Innovation is analyzed from three macro themes: (1) the neoclassical current of economic theory; (2) the introduction of innovation theory and reviews of the more recent Schumpeter manuscripts; (3) the contributions brought by the neo-chumpeterian innovation current. In concluding that the subject of innovation as analyzed meets the criteria listed to categorize the scientificity according to Popper and Lakatos, implications for the field of innovation studies are discussed, such as the construction/transmission of knowledge, the escape from “common sense”, and the use of the “method” as a resource for building scientific knowledge.El objetivo de este artículo es investigar –a partir de dos criterios de delimitación (Popper y Lakatos) – la cientificidad de la teoría de la innovación. La innovación se analiza a partir de tres temas macro: (i) la corriente neoclásica de la teoría económica; (ii) la introducción de la teoría de la innovación y los manuscritos más recientes de Schumpeter; y (iii) las contribuciones aportadas por la corriente neo-chumpeteriana de la innovación. Se concluye que el tema de la innovación responde a los criterios para categorizar la cientificidad, encontrándose que esto tiene implicaciones en el campo de los estudios sobre el tema en aspectos como: la construcción / transmisión del conocimiento, la evasión del "sentido común", y el uso del "método" como recurso para construir el conocimiento científico.O objetivo deste artigo é pesquisar – a partir de dois critérios de delimitação (Popper e Lakatos) – a cientificidade da teoria da inovação. Variability analysis for robot operating system applications

Robotic applications are often designed to be reusable and configurable. Sometimes, due to the different supported software and hardware components, as well as the different implemented robot capabilities, the total number of possible configurations for a single system can be extremely large. In these scenarios, understanding how different configurations coexist and which components and capabilities are compatible with each other is a significant time sink both for developers and end users alike. Convenções: uma visão sociológica do desenvolvimento econômico

Bibliografia: p. 230-234.Erber entende o desenvolvimento como um fenômeno multifacetado, em que a dimensão econômica não se dissocia de seus vieses sociológico e político. Ele inaugurou uma linha de pesquisa focada na economia política da política monetária brasileira contemporânea. As recentes mudanças na estratégia de combate à inflação corroboram sua tese sobre a relevância das convenções de desenvolvimento para explicar o problema das taxas de juros no Brasil. Uma das principais contribuições de Erber no desenvolvimento do tema foi mostrar que a crença de que uma determinada convenção de desenvolvimento se materializa em um "projeto nacional" que vise ao "bem comum" é utópica. Uma convenção de desenvolvimento atende a interesses constituídos especificamente - em uma determinada sociedade e um dado momento histórico - que afetam os diversos atores sociais e/ou grupos de interesse de forma diferenciada.Erber's contribution to understanding development conventions has made him a theorist of the ideas of development. Based on the assumption that economic theory is not neutral axiologically, he has explained where the development conventions prevailing in contemporary Brazil came from and where they are leading us to. Acting more like a social scientist, Erber's epistemological stance becomes very clear: ontologically, Economics is Politics. By using the concept of convention to explain the problem of interest rates in Brazil, Erber has founded a research program focused on Political Economy and devoted to study the Brazilian contemporary monetary policy. An important part of Erber's legacy is to have shown that the belief that a given convention of development could be transformed into a national project aiming at the common good is actually a utopia
