Desfolha da videira

A desfolha da videira é uma técnica cultural que integra o grupo das designadas intervenções em verde, tendo como principais objectivos melhorar a sanidade e qualidade das uvas e permitir ganhos de tempo na vindima manual. É uma operação praticada desde a antiguidade, podendo ser executada desde a floração até ao final da maturação. Apesar da desfolha ser uma prática corrente, hoje em dia já passível de mecanização, os seus efeitos são variáveis com a casta, a localização da vinha, intensidade e época em que se realiza. A avaliação criteriosa das vantagens e desvantagens da desfolha exige a realização de estudos regionais e inter-anuais nas principais castas. Na primeira parte deste trabalho abordam-se os principais efeitos da desfolha na fisiologia, vigor, produção e qualidade da uva e vinho. Response of growth, yield and berry composition to basal leaf removal in Jaen grapevine

Results from a leaf removal experiment located at Dão Winegrowing region of Portugal are presented. Three intensity levels of defoliation (control non-defoliated, leaves removed up to the third basal node and up to the sixth basal node) are compared. Defoliation treatments had no significant effect on yield and on must soluble solids, showing that the remaining leaves were able to guarantee berry development and sugar accumulation in the fruit. Teleparallel Versions of Friedmann and Lewis-Papapetrou Spacetimes

This paper is devoted to investigate the teleparallel versions of the Friedmann models as well as the Lewis-Papapetrou solution. We obtain the tetrad and the torsion fields for both the spacetimes. It is shown that the axial-vector vanishes for the Friedmann models. We discuss the different possibilities of the axial-vector depending on the arbitrary functions $\omega$ and $\psi$ in the Lewis-Papapetrou metric. Cosmological perturbations in FRW model with scalar field within Hamilton-Jacobi formalism and symplectic projector method

The Hamilton-Jacobi analysis is applied to the dynamics of the scalar fluctuations about the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW). The gauge conditions are found from the consistency conditions. The physical degrees of freedom of the model are obtain by symplectic projector method. The role of the linearly dependent Hamiltonians and the gauge variables in Hamilton-Jacobi formalism is discussed.Comment: 11 page

Influência da desfolha na produção e qualidade da casta Jaen na região do Dão

Neste trabalho apresentam-se os primeiros resultados de um ensaio de desfolha instalado no Centro de Estudos Vitivinícolas do Dão, em 1997. Estudam-se os efeitos de dois níveis de desfolha comparativamente a uma testemunha não desfolhada, em três porta-enxertos (1103P, 99R e SO4), na produção e qualidade do mosto. A desfolha não influenciou significativamente nem a produção nem o estado sanitário das uvas. Ao nível da qualidade do mosto, apesar de não se ter verificado qualquer efeito no açúcar e acidez total, registou-se um efeito significativamente positivo da desfolha no teor em antocianas e fenois. A comparison between different propagative schemes for the simulation of tapered step index slab waveguides

The performance and accuracy of a number of propagative algorithms are compared for the simulation of tapered high contrast step index slab waveguides. The considered methods include paraxial as well as nonparaxial formulations of optical field propagation. In particular attention is paid to the validity of the paraxial approximation. To test the internal consistency of the various methods the property of reciprocity is verified and it is shown that for the paraxial algorithms the reciprocity can only be fulfilled if the paraxial approximation of the power flux expression using the Poynting vector is considered. Finally, modeling results are compared with measured fiber coupling losses for an experimentally realized taper structure

Efeito do porta-enxerto no vigor, rendimento e qualidade do mosto da casta ‘Jaen’, num terroir do Dão

Com o objectivo de estudar o efeito do porta-enxerto no vigor, produção e qualidade da uva da casta ‘Jaen’, o Centro de Estudos Vitivinícolas do Dão instalou um ensaio comparativo entre três porta-enxertos (99 R, 1103 P e SO4), apresentando-se neste trabalho resultados relativos aos ciclos de 2002 a 2006. Verificaram-se diferenças na produção, no vigor e na qualidade do mosto nos vários anos. O ano de 2005 foi o de maior vigor, 2003 o que apresentou a maior produção e 2004 induziu o maior valor de álcool provável. O porta-enxerto induziu diferenças significativas nos componentes da produção e do vigor. O SO4 apresentou uma produção significativamente superior ao 99 R e 1103 P, os quais não diferiram entre si. O 99 R induziu um vigor significativamente inferior aos restantes que não apresentaram diferenças entre si. Effects of leaf removal on leaf gas exchange parameters of Vitis vinifera L. (Cv. Jaen)

Leaf removal produced a significanl increase af (eaf gas exchanges, photosynthetic rate and stamatal conductance af the remaining leaves but had no signiflcant effcct on water use efficiency. 'Nhen compared with controI plants, dcfoliation treatments induced a favourable effect on the leaves hexoses content. The strongest levei of defoliation induced a starch levei signifIcantly higher than the other treatments.
