HASSAN FATHI: AN EFFECTIVE FACET OF THE 20TH CENTURY ARCHITECTURE
Abstract. Hassan Fathi, one of the most prominent architects of the 20th century, has a widespread impact on the He focused on the indigenous .architecture of the Islamic world and the ideas developed in the Western world architecture and sustainability concerns. He is different from the other modernists in terms of dealing with the history and language of indigenous architecture. Unfortunately, in a lesser extent, there has been a focus on his architectural features and efforts to revive and revitalize indigenous architecture. This is a strong reason for performing the present When he tried to establish a relationship between architecture and research and introducing some features of his work. it from the past. This paper focuses on the richness local history, most modernists wanted to discard history and separate and complexity of Hasan Fathi's architecture and examines a wide range of his theoretical goals. Fathi's view towards modernism and international style is evaluated as critical reactions used in his works and philosophy. What The important point is the relationship between his philosophy and movements such as postmodernism, social architecture, The clear .indigenous architecture, and perseverance and tendencies, such as new nativeism and terrestrial construction view of Hassan Fathi, which some people consider to be too romantic, relies on concepts that are widely accepted today. Abstract. Nowadays, choosing a suitable heating system is important due to the increasing energyconsumption in residential buildings. In choosing the optimal heating system, various factors such as installation and maintenance costs, uniform heat distribution, internal air quality and thermal comfort index are considered. In this paper, research on the above factors for floor heating systems, corrosion radiators and panel radiator has been investigated and the results have been analyzed. According to the analysis, the radiator panel system is not suitable for heating goals, and the floor heating system is the most suitable system for this purpose. Keywords: Floor heating; Corded radiator; Panel radiator; Heat distribution; Thermal comfort
Improving postharvest vase-life and quality of cut gerbera flowers using natural and chemical preservatives
Gerbera is one of ten popular cut flowers in the world which occupies the forth place according to the global trends in floriculture. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the effects of chemical, hormonal and essential oil substances in preservative solutions to improve its postharvest qualitative characteristics. Two pulse treatments including distilled water (pulse1) and 4% CaCl2 + 3% sucrose (pulse2) for 24 hour were applied before long-time treatments. Long-time treatments were comprised of (1) Hormonal treatments: 0, 25, 30 mg*l-1 Gibberellic acid, 0, 150, 250 mg*l-1 Benzyl adenine and 0, 100, 200 mg*l-1 5-Sulfosalicylic acid (2) Chemical treatments: 0, 0.4, 0.8 mM Silver thiosulphate, 0, 5, 10 mg*l-1 Nano-silver particles, 0, 4, 6 mM Aminooxy acetic acid and 0, 200 and 400 mg*l-1 8-hydroxyquinoline sulphate (3) Essential oils: Thymus essential oil and Stevia essential oils (0, 0.1 and 0.2 mg*l-1). Data were subjected to analysis of variance based on the factorial experiment model in the layout completely randomized design. Mean comparison was performed using the Duncan’s multiple range test. Parameters of fresh weight, stem bending, capitulum diameter, carotenoid pigments of petal and vase-life longevity were evaluated during 12 days. The highest fresh weight was obtained when cut flowers were held in a solution containing pulse1 + 250 mg*l-1 BA. Among all treatments, 8-HQS treatment showed the best effects on preventing stem bending, increasing capitulum diameter and also on prolonging of vase-life, but nonetheless, the effects of pulse treatments and 8-HQS concentrations were insignificant. To conclude, 200 mg*l-1 8-HQS without pulse treatment has the potential to be used as a commercial preservative solution to improve the keeping quality and vase-life of this important cut flower
Influence of preharvest nano calcium applications on postharvest of sweet pepper (Capsicum annum)
The effect of preharvest nano calcium treatment on the quality, physicochemical
parameters and antioxidative enzyme activities of sweet pepper fruits were evaluated. For this purpose, sweet pepper plants treated with
three concentrations (0, 4 and 8 g/L) of nano calcium in five steps (50, 60, 70, 80 and 90 days after pepper planting). 100 days after
pepper planting, fruits were harvested and packaged in plastic bags and stored at 20±3
0
C, then total soluble solids, pH, weight loss,
carotenoids, electrolyte leakage, lipid peroxidation, titrable acidity, ascorbic acid, chlorophyll, calcium, protein and the activities of total
antioxidant enzymes, catalase and guailcol peroxidase were evaluated at 0, 7, 14 and 21 days of storage period. Nano calcium treated
fruits had lower levels of total soluble solids, pH, weight loss, carotenoids, electrolyte leakage, lipid peroxidation and higher levels of
titrable acidity, ascorbic acid, chlorophyll, calcium and protein compared to the control plants. The increase percentage of titrable
acidity, ascorbic acid, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophylls, calcium and protein contents in plants treated with 4 g/L nano
calcium and 21 days storage period were calculated 68.86%, 41.89%, 81.17%, 78.57%, 80.81%, 21.46% and 83.30% respectively. The
maximum activities of total antioxidant enzymes, catalase and guailcol peroxidase were observed in 21 days control plants that
application of nano calcium decreased these antioxidant activities. In most parameters 4 g/L concentration was more effective.
Therefore, commercial application of preharvest nano calcium (4 g/L) can be considered for the maintenance of quality of sweet peppers
during storage and marketing
Active Role of the Necrotic Zone in Desensitization of Hypoxic Macrophages and Regulation of CSC-Fate: A hypothesis
Fast-proliferating cancer cells in the hypoxic region face a shortage of oxygen and nutrients, undergo necrotic cell death, and release numerous signaling components. Hypoxia-induced chemo-attractants signal for macrophages/monocytes to clear debris and return the system to steady state. Accordingly, macrophages arrange into pre-necrotic positions, where they are continuously exposed to stress signals. It can thus be hypothesized that gradual alteration of gene expression in macrophages eventually turns off their phagocytic machinery. Uncleared cell corpses within the hypoxic region potentially provide a rich source of building blocks for anaerobic metabolism of cancer stem cells via macropinocytosis, and are conceivably implicated in tumor progression and invasion

Nonlinearity everywhere: implications for empirical finance, technical analysis and value at risk
We show that expected returns on US stocks and all major global stock market indices have a particular form of non-linear dependence on previous returns. The expected sign of returns tends to reverse after large price movements and trends tend to continue after small movements. The observed market properties are consistent with various models of investor behavior and can be captured by a simple polynomial model. We further discuss a number of important implications of our findings. Incorrectly fitting a simple linear model to the data leads to a substantial bias in coefficient estimates. We show through the polynomial model that well known short term technical trading rules may be substantially driven by the non-linear behavior observed. The behavior also has implications for the appropriate calculation of important risk measures such as value at risk
Novel Synthetic Derivatives of Dichloroimidazole Targeting NorA Efflux Pump against Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus
Introduction:
Antibiotic resistance has been a major health problem in recent years, which has led to a failure in the treatment of infectious diseases. Therefore, research to synthesize compounds that have antibiotic activity is very valuable. In present study four novel compounds (6a-d), derivatives of dichloroimidazole conjugated with triazole, were synthesized in order to obtain new bacterial efflux pump inhibitors (EPIs).
Methods and Results:
The derivatives were evaluated for their effects on the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of ciprofloxacin against a methicillin and ciprofloxacin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MCRSA) clinical isolate. Based on broth microdilution method assay, four derivatives at a minimum effective concentration (MEC) fortified the antibacterial efficacy of ciprofloxacin against MCRSA. MIC of ciprofloxacin decreased in the presence of novel compounds compared to ciprofloxacin alone between 2 to 64 fold. These compounds were then evaluated for their potency as efflux pump inhibitors using a fluorometric assay. Results indicated an increase in accumulation of ethidium bromide (a known fluorescent substrate for the NorA pump) in the presence of each compound, like verapamil (a typical inhibitor of efflux pump), thus these compounds acted as inhibitors of the NorA pump. Moreover, the MTT assay confirmed that novel compounds did not demonstrate any cytotoxic effect against three cancer cell lines, HT-29, MCF-7 and Caco-2, and a normal mouse fibroblastic cell line, NIH-3T3.
Conclusion:
Collectively, our results propose these derivatives as therapeutic options in combination therapies to tackle antibiotic resistance.
