Design Implementation of Next Generation Wireless LAN for Mass Digital Cinema

    Get PDF
We have been designing an over 1.2 Gbps throughput wireless for next generation WLAN system conform with IEEE802.11TGac’s requirements. It reaches 33 meter propagation distance by using 80MHz of bandiwdth on 5GHz band. 4x5 antennas configuration contribute 2nd-order diversity gain and maintain both the high throughput and performance. The Greenfield format preamble was proposed for its high efficiency. Novel phase rotation is employed to lower the PAPR signal. Run test for transmitting 90 frames of 40961714 pixels/frame under in-door channel model proves that the proposed system shall be considered for providing an excellent performance mass digital cinema. Capturing the Benefit of Monsoonal and Tropical Climate to Enhance National Food Security

Although the consumption level is declining with improved economy and living condition, rice remains the staple food in many Asian countries. With annual consumption per capita of more than 100 kg, Indonesia is far higher than Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Malaysia with around 90 kg but less than the least developed countries in Southeast Asia, Laos and Myanmar that consume around 200 kg. Java the most populous island with about 7% of Indonesian terrestrial territory has long been and is still the national rice basket although its contribution to the national rice production is steadily declining. With population is still growing by 1.30% annually, competition for food, water, and energy will increase. Consequently food prices will rise, more people will go hungry, and migrants will flee theworst-affected regions. Therefore, to cater the national rice demand, alternatives has to be found in outer islands. The geographic position and variable climate of monsoonal and tropical rainfall patterns as well as the availabilityof large swathes of swampy land offer opportunity to evenly spread planting time and hence rice production throughout the year. However, recent rapid development of tree plantations will make it difficult to implement without political will supported with strong policy and appropriate planning. This paper describes the challenges and opportunities in utilizing climate variability to enhance national food security and improve farmers\u27 welfare

Risk Management Effectiveness of Oil And Gas Pipeline Construction in Java Island - Indonesia

One of the important oil and gas industry is oil and gas pipeline which serves to support the gas transmission and distribution process. The oil and gas pipeline routes are so long and cross through some areas that certainly raises the risk of adversely affecting the environment, especially for the pipeline located in a densely populated area, where at certain conditions, the pipe can leak and may cause the explosion. Many researches have been conducted concerning on the project pipeline risks which concluded that the oil and gas pipeline project has very complex risks. In addition, the oil and gas project may cause a potential disaster. Currently oil and gas companies have been implementing risk management to minimize the negative impacts, but the negative impacts are still occurred. This is due to ineffective risk management implementation. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of risk management system for oil and gas pipeline project in Java Island. Based on a deep study literature review, it shows that the effectiveness of risk management can be achieved by taking account into environmental, social and economic factors that are the pillars of sustainable development system. The potential disaster was also to be considered as an addition factor. Therefore, four identified factors were analyzed using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Data were obtained using questionnaire which were distributed to oil and gas project team. It is found that the most factors to be considered was social aspect (40%) and the other factors contributed 31% for disaster, 15% for economic, 14% for environment. Those factors should be taken account in the design stage as the most priority

The Use of Climate Information for Developing Early Warning System to Brown Plant Hopper Attack on Paddies

Crop pests and diseases are limiting factors in determining crops production. Brown Plant Hopper/BPH (Nilaparvata lugens) is the major crop pests and diseases for rice in Asia since 1970\u27s. The presence of BPH is depending upon several conditions covering pathogenic characteristics, carriers, physical environment (rainfall, temperature, humidity etc.) and biotic environment (natural enemy, competitor organisms). BPH growth is very fast delivering huge amount of eggs, has a short life cycle (28 days) with fast distribution forces and incredible attack forces. BPH is very dynamic in their live assuming due to the climatic condition of their habitat. This is the reason why climate can be used as an indicator for early warning to anticipate the area attack of BPH especially and in general for crop pests and diseases control. The relationship between pest and diseases attack and climate parameters such as rainfall, mean temperature, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, mean humidity, maximum humidity, and minimum humidity can be analyzed using multiple regression. The early warning system is developed using software of MS Access, Arc View, Map Object, and Visual Basic that can be a dynamic and interactive system. The results of analysis showed that climate parameter has a correlation with the area attack of BPH only during the La-Niña years. Those parameters include rainfall, maximumtemperature, maximum temperature at two weeks before attack, minimum temperature, and minimum temperature at two weeks before attack. The early warning system is started by entering the climate prediction for the next cropping season where the time is subject to prediction, at a certain sub-district. After inputting data of climate prediction the system will provide information of potential area attack of BPH at that location. By performing information of potential area attack the anticipative action can be designed earlier so that the crops harvest failure can be reduced
