    Copular sentences and Binding Theory : the case of French and Principle C

    Although, in the literature, Principle C of Binding Theory is taken not to apply to copular sentences on the basis of English data alone, this study aims to show that this Principle applies to French copular sentences. French displays a dichotomy between predicational copular sentences and other subtypes of copular sentences (specificational, identity and identificational) : while the former use the verb est (‘is’) alone, the latter need an additional form, namely the neuter demonstrative pronoun ce. Evidence is given that, in French, the two terms flanking the copula est cannot be referential because the post-copula term would be bound by the pre-copula one, in accordance with Principle C of Binding Theory. Thus, adding the pronoun ce modifies the (deep) structure of the sentence and gives rise to a Topic c’est Focus (surface) structure, which escapes Principle C.Dans la littérature, le Principe C de la Théorie du Liage est considéré comme ne s’appliquant pas aux phrases copulatives, sur la base des données anglaises. Cependant, le présent travail montre que ce principe s’applique aux phrases copulatives françaises. Le français marque une distinction entre les phrases prédicationnelles et les autres types de phrases copulatives (identificationnelles, identité, spécificationnelles) : les premières présentent le verbe est tout seul, alors que les autres types de phrases nécessitent la présence du démonstratif neutre “ce/c’”. Nous montrons que, en français, les deux termes autour de la copule ne peuvent pas être co-référentiels, en accord avec le Principe C du Liage. Ainsi, la présence du pronom “ce” modifie la structure sous-jascente de la phrase et aboutit en une structure de surface de type Topic c’est Focus, laquelle échappe au Principe C

    Tujuan studi: Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk memahami hubungan fasilitas dengan kepuasan pasien pengguna BPJS di UPT Puskesmas Segiri Tahun 2020. Metodologi: Analitik adalah jenis penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini dengan desain studi cross sectional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 94 sampel dan instrument yang digunakan adalah kuesioner. Teknik pengambilan sampel accidental sampling. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menggunakan uji chi square menunjukkan nilai p-value sebesar 0,00 < α sebesar 0,05 sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan pelayanan fasilitas dengan tingkat kepuasan pasien BPJS. Manfaat: Sebagai acuan pembelajaran terkait fasilitas dan kepuasan pasien

    An update of molecular pathology of bone tumors. Lessons learned from investigating samples by next generation sequencing

    The last decade has seen the majority of primary bone tumor subtypes become defined by molecular genetic alteration. Examples include giant cell tumour of bone (H3F3A p.G34W), chondroblastoma (H3F3B p.K36M), mesenchymal chondrosarcoma (HEY1‐NCOA2), chondromyxoid fibroma (GRM1 rearrangements), aneurysmal bone cyst (USP6 rearrangements), osteoblastoma/osteoid osteoma (FOS/FOSB rearrangements), and synovial chondromatosis (FN1‐ACVR2A and ACVR2A‐FN1). All such alterations are mutually exclusive. Many of these have been translated into clinical service using immunohistochemistry or FISH. 60% of central chondrosarcoma is characterised by either isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) 1 or IDH2 mutations distinguishing them from other cartilaginous tumours. In contrast, recurrent alterations which are clinically helpful have not been found in high grade osteosarcoma. High throughput next generation sequencing has also proved valuable in identifying germ line alterations in a significant proportion of young patients with primary malignant bone tumors. These findings will play an increasing role in reaching a diagnosis and in patient management

    Dampak debt to equity ratio dan debt to asset ratio terhadap kinerja keuangan

    This study aims to determine the effect of Debt to Equity Ratio and Debt To Asset Ratio on the company's financial performance. The research was conducted on the Consumer Goods Industry company of the Cosmetics and Household Goods Sub-sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2017-2021. The population and sample of this study found 7 companies. This analysis method uses descriptive method, the data used is secondary data obtained from financial statements. The data analysis technique was carried out with the classical assumption testing stage and multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that the Debt to Equity Ratio and Debt to Asset Ratio have a simultaneous effect on Financial Performance in the Cosmetics and Household Goods Sub-Sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2017-2021. The results of the analysis show that partially the Debt to Asset Ratio has no effect on Financial Performance, while the Debt to Equity Ratio has an effect on Financial Performance in the Cosmetics and Household Goods Sub-Sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2017–2021

    Entre princesas e prostitutas: as alegorias do feminino na modernidade

    Resumo: Nesse ensaio propomos investigar a dimensão feminina no pensamento de Walter Benjamin a partir da expressão alegórica da linguagem que não apenas se mostra esteticamente, mas se define como categoria ética. Nesse sentido, em primeiro lugar percorreremos o nascimento da filosofia nos gregos e sua constituição a partir do pensamento masculino para confrontar com a crítica epistemológica de Benjamin que, emprestando o platonismo, anuncia a verdade como bela. Na crítica a representação já vemos a questão de identificação linguística que diferencia o símbolo e a alegoria e os posiciona ao lado do que denominamos uma tradição masculina e feminina do pensamento. Após devemos explorar o uso alegórico na representação das rainhas nos dramas do barroco alemão, tomando o martírio de figuras como Agrippina, Catharina e Sophonisbe para apresentar, nas ambiguidades morais e políticas de seu tempo, a dimensão criatural e melancólica das mulheres no barroco alemão, as diferenças de moralidade na modernidade luterana e iluminista e a caracterização da história como natureza. Por fim, exploramos nas transformações sociais ocasionadas pela expansão do modo de produção e circulação de mercadorias na modernidade parisiense as transfigurações da alegoria pelas heroínas de Baudelaire. Passamos da impotência masculina a forma de objetificação da mulher manifesta nos manequins, nas lésbicas e nas prostitutas. Keywords: Walter Benjamin, deutschen Trauerspiel, Modernity, Allegory, Feminin Abstract: This essay propose to investigate the feminine dimension in Walter Benjamin's thought from the allegorical expression of language that is not only shown aesthetically, but is defined as an ethical category. In this sense, first of all, we will go through the birth of philosophy in the Greeks and its constitution based on male thought to confront Benjamin's epistemological criticism, which, borrowing from Platonism, announces the truth as beautiful. In the criticism of representation, we already see the question of linguistic identification that differentiates the symbol and the allegory and places them alongside what we call a male and female tradition of thought. After that, we should explore the allegorical use in the representation of queens in the dramas of the German Baroque, taking the martyrdom of figures like Agrippina, Catharina and Sophonisbe to present, in the moral and political ambiguities of their time, the creative and melancholic dimension of women in the German Baroque, the differences in morality in Lutheran and Enlightenment modernity and the characterization of history as nature. Finally, we explored in the social transformations caused by the expansion of the mode of production and circulation of goods in Parisian modernity the transfigurations of allegory by the heroines of Baudelaire. We have gone from male impotence to the form of objectification of women manifested on mannequins, lesbians and prostitutes.     Hospice Psychosocial Service Availability and Utilization in the United States

    Information has been sparse on the hospice psychosocial support offered through the American hospice system. This study examined the hospice psychosocial services that are available and utilized within the United States. In addition, the characteristics of patients and families who utilized these services were comprehensively assessed. Data from the 2007 National Home and Hospice Care Survey (NHHCS) was analyzed in this cross-sectional study (National Center for Health Statistics [NCHS], 2007). Hierarchical linear regression, hierarchal logistic regressions as well as chi-square test of independence were used to analyze the data. It was hypothesized that for profit hospice ownership status would predict less availability and utilization of psychosocial services when agency size, chain status, and patient total activity of daily needs are controlled. Ownership status was a significant predictor of medical social service availability where for profit agencies were more likely to have this service available. Conversely, hospice patients at for profit agencies were less likely to utilize medical social services as well as bereavement services. Overall, patient and caregiver utilization rates of psychosocial services were low with the exception of medical social services, bereavement services, spiritual care services, & safety training services. The majority of individuals that used these services were married, White, non-Hispanic, 74-75 year old cancer patients with no cognitive impairment. Most were Medicare recipients with advanced directives in place and had 4 ADL needs. Routine home care patients with an average care continuum of about 2-2 ½ months accounted for most of those who used these services. The majority of these patients lived in a private residence with family members and had spousal caregivers. These results suggest that the psychosocial services that are being provided have an overall low utilization rate despite availability regardless of ownership type. Further, psychosocial services are disproportionately underutilized by racial and ethnic minorities. In addition, these results highlight the disparity that exists between racial groups that are admitted under hospice care. Further interdisciplinary research needs to be conducted in order to address this disparity in order to determine alternative forms of care that are specifically tailored to a diverse patient population

    Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi permintaan paket mobile internet. Adapun yang menjadi objek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia angkatan 2014 yang menggunakan mobile internet. Penelitian ini didasari bahwa Indonesia mengalami penetrasi yang cepat di bidang internet. Tiap tahunnya, jumlah pengguna paket mobile internet selalu lebih banyak dibanding pengguna paket non mobile internet, namun di sisi lain persentase pertambahan pengguna mobile internet justru mengalami penurunan. Metode penelitian yang penulis gunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah survey eksplanatori. Penelitian ini memiliki populasi sebanyak 4494 orang dengan 367 sampel. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah regresi linier berganda dengan bantuan program Eviews 7. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variabel harga dan gaya hidup sama-sama berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap permintaan. Hasil tersebut memiliki arti bahwa semakin meningkatnya harga dan semakin meningkatnya gaya hidup konsumen, maka permintaan konsumen terhadap paket mobile internet pun akan meningkat. ;---This research was conducted to analyze what factors has influenced consumer demand of mobile internet package. Object of this research was students from Indonesia University of Education class 2014. This research based on fact that Indonesia experienced rapid penetration in the internet. Each year, the number of mobile internet package users were always more than non-mobile internet package users, but on the other hand the percentage increase of mobile internet users actually decreased. Research methods that the writer use was an explanatory survey. This research has population of 4494 people with 367 sample. Technique of analyzing data used multiple linear regression which operated by Eviews 7. The results of this research indicate that price and lifestyle are both positive and significant impact on consumer demand. It means that if the price and lifestyle of consumers increases, consumer demand for mobile internet packages will increase as well

    Assessing the quality of forage for livestock in a semi-arid pastoral system in South Africa

    Magister Scientiae (Biodiversity and Conservation Biology) - MSc (Biodiv and Cons Biol)This study evaluated the nutritional quality of the forage plants in Namaqualand Granite Renosterveld vegetation in the Kamiesberg uplands of the Leliefontein communal area, South Africa. Determining the quality of forages is one of the most important factors necessary for the effective management of rangelands as it impacts on the nutrient needs of animals and consequently, the grazing capacity in rangelands. The edible portions of various forage plants were collected in the wet and dry seasons in 2012 and 2013 after which the nutritional quality (mineral nutrient content; crude protein (CP); fibre, neutral detergent fibre (NDF) and acid detergent fibre (ADF); dry matter digestibility (DMD); dry matter intake (DMI); metabolizeable energy (ME); and relative forage value (RFV)) as well as the anti-nutritional quality (total phenolics (TP); condensed tannins (CT); and silicon (Si) concentrations) of the plants were determined. Plants were thereafter grouped into their respective growth forms: grasses (15 species), herbs (15 species), leaf succulents (17 species), non-succulents (134 species), reeds (7 species), trees (8 species) and stem succulents (2 species) for statistical analyses. There were generally only a few significant differences for each forage growth form, when comparing the nutritional and anti-nutritional qualities between the two seasons. Certain forage types such as leaf succulents were found to have a high nutritional value in terms of their mineral nutrient content, CP, DMD and ME , but were also found to contain high concentrations of one or more anti-nutritional factors. However, within each season, results showed that for both the nutritional quality and anti-nutritional quality, there was a significant difference between the different growth forms within each season. This suggests that both of these quality parameters are essential in order to draw meaningful conclusions regarding forage quality of these semi-arid rangeland plants. Further research is needed at the species level to determine what plant species are the most nutritious in terms of both nutritional and anti-nutritional quality in order to inform the potential production of these species on a commercial scale

    Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis peran employer branding pada pengaruh sikap, norma subjektif, dan kontrol perilaku terhadap niat melamar kerja mahasiswa tingkat akhir Kota Bandung. Objek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa tingkat akhir yang diambil dari 5 perguruan tinggi di Kota Bandung. Penelitian ini didasari bahwa Indonesia mengalami pergeseran angkatan kerja dan Generasi Y - dalam penelitian ini diwakilkan oleh mahasiswa tingkat akhir – akan mendominasi angka tenaga kerja dengan karakteristik sifat yang berbeda dari generasi sebelumnya namun memiliki niat yang rendah untuk melamar kerja. Survei eksplanatori adalah metode penelitian yang penulis gunakan dalam penelitian ini. Populasi yang terdata sebanyak 29635 orang dengan sampel sebanyak 395 orang. Teknik analisis daya uang digunakan adalah regresi linear berganda dan Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) dengan bantuan program SPSS versi 24. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa variabel sikap, norma subjektif, kontrol perilaku, dan employer branding berpengaruh terhadap niat. Selanjutnya employer branding hanya mampu memoderasi variabel sikap terhadap niat namun jika dibandingkan dengan hasil tanpa dimoderasi, moderasi employer branding menunjukkan hasil lebih rendah dari sisi uji t. Employer branding adalah sebuah informasi yang berasal dari eksternal responden sedangkan sikap adalah kondisi yang sangat internal dan otentik sehingga meskipun employer branding mampu memoderasi variabel sikap tetapi nilainya lebih rendah dari pengujian sikap dengan tanpa dimoderasi. This study was conducted to analyze the role of employer branding on the influence of attitudes, subjective norms, and behavioral control on the intention to apply for jobs in final year Bandung City students. The object of this research is final year students from universities in Bandung. This study is based on the fact that Indonesia is experiencing a shift in the workforce and Generation Y - represented by final year students in this study - will dominate the workforce with different characteristics from the previous generation but have low intentions to apply for jobs. Explanatory survey is the research method that the authors use in this study. The data was collected from 395 people. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results of this study indicate that the variables of attitudes, subjective norms, behavior control, and employer branding have an effect on intention. Furthermore, employer branding was only able to moderate the attitude variable towards intention, but when compared with the results without moderation, the results of the t-test for employer branding showed lower results. Employer branding is information that comes from external respondents while attitude is a very internal and authentic condition so that even though employer branding is able to moderate the attitude variable, the value is lower than the attitude test without moderation
