    Data Fusion based on Game Theory for Speaker Diarization

    A novel algorithm based on bimatrix game theory has been developed to improve the accuracy and reliability of a speaker diarization system. This algorithm fuses the output data of two open-source speaker diarization programs, LIUM and SHoUT, taking advantage of the best properties of each one. The performance of this new system has been tested by means of audio streams from several movies. From preliminary results on fragments of five movies, improvements of 63% in false alarms and missed speech mistakes have been achieved with respect to LIUM and SHoUT systems working alone. Moreover, we also improve in a 20% the number of recognized speakers, getting close to the real number of speakers in the audio strea

    Visual Targeted Advertisement System Based on User Profiling and Content Consumption for Mobile Broadcasting Television

    Content personalisation is one of the main aims of the mobile media delivery business models, as a new way to improve the user’s experience. In broadcasting networks, the content is sent “one to many”, so a complete personalisation where the user may select any content is not possible. But using the mobile bidirectional return channel (e.g. UMTS connection) visual targeted advertising can be performed in a simple way: by off-line storing the advertisement for selectively replacing the normal broadcasted advertisement. In fact, these concepts provide powerful methods to increase the value of the service, mainly in mobile environments. In this article we present a novel intelligent content personalisation system for targeted advertising over mobile broadcasting networks and terminals, based on user profiling and clustering, as a new solution where the use of content personalisation represents the competitive advantage over traditional advertising

    Recommender system for sport videos based on user audiovisual consumption

    This paper describes a recommender system for sport videos, transmitted over the Internet and/or broadcast, in the context of large-scale events, which has been tested for the Olympic Games. The recommender is based on audiovisual consumption and does not depend on the number of users, running only on the client side. This avoids the concurrence, computation and privacy problems of central server approaches in scenarios with a large number of users, such as the Olympic Games. The system has been designed to take advantage of the information available in the videos, which is used along with the implicit information of the user and the modeling of his/her audiovisual content consumption. The system is thus transparent to the user, who does not need to take any specific action. Another important characteristic is that the system can produce recommendations for both live and recorded events. Testing has showed advantages compared to previous systems, as will be shown in the results

    FIWARE Lab: managing resources and services in a cloud federation supporting future internet applications

    Real-world experimentation facilities accelerate the development of Future Internet technologies and services, advance the market for smart infrastructures, and increase the effectiveness of business processes through the Internet. The federation of facilities fosters the experimentation and innovation with larger and more powerful environment, increases the number and variety of the offered services and brings forth possibilities for new experimentation scenarios. This paper introduces a management solution for cloud federation that automates service provisioning to the largest possible extent, relieves the developers from time-consuming configuration settings, and caters for real-time information of all information related to the whole lifecycle of the provisioned services. This is achieved by proposing solutions to achieve the seamless deployment of services across the federation and ability of services to span across different infrastructures of the federation, as well as monitoring of the resources and data which can be aggregated with a common structure, offered as an open ecosystem for innovation at the developers' disposal. This solution consists of several federation management tools and components that are part of the work on Cloud Federation conducted within XIFI project to build the federation of cloud infrastructures for the Future Internet Lab (FIWARE Lab).     Secure Geographic Routing in Ad Hoc and Wireless Sensor Networks

    Security in sensor networks is one of the most relevant research topics in resource constrained wireless devices and networks. Several attacks can be suffered in ad hoc and wireless sensor networks (WSN), which are highly susceptible to attacks, due to the limited resources of the nodes. In this paper, we propose innovative and lightweight localization techniques that allow for intrusion identification and isolation schemes and provide accurate location information. This information is used by our routing protocol which additionally incorporates a distributed trust model to prevent several routing attacks to the network. We finally evaluate our algorithms for accurate localization and for secure routing which have been implemented and tested in real ad hoc and wireless sensor networks

    Farming and Foraging : Indirect effects of management on bird biology through changing distributions of food and predators

    Farmland songbirds have shown dramatic population declines that have been linked to agricultural intensification. Populations have been impacted via three key factors: a reduction in available nesting habitat, a reduction in the availability of food for nestlings, and a reduction in over-winter food availability. The abundance of nest predators such as corvids, and the presence of sub-clinical disease may also play a part, and this thesis investigates the inter-relationships of some of these five factors along with their potential impacts upon farmland bird populations, using the yellowhammer Emberiza citrinella as a model species. It appears that the quality, not the quantity of fledglings has declined, possibly due to delayed life-history effects following on from conditions experienced in the nest. Increases in corvid abundance are associated with declines in chick growth and condition, mediated by behavioural compensation by provisioning adults: these effects are especially marked in large broods and where invertebrate food supply is low; where food supply is high a slightly positive effect of corvid abundance on condition and growth is found, implying an adaptive response by adults to maximise food provisioning in order for chicks to fledge more quickly and thus reduce their risk of predation in the nest. High territory densities, found where the availability of suitable nesting habitat is high, are associated with apparent density-dependent competition for high quality food and reduced chick growth, probably reducing fledgling quality and potentially leading to population sinks in areas of good nesting habitat, or in areas with high corvid densities. Survival analysis from a yellow hammer population sampled over four successive winters indicates that survival is male-biased, probably due to the higher work rates of females during breeding. Survival probability increases with increasing wing length, although analysis of 21 years of ringing data from the same site indicate a significant trend towards decreasing wing length, when controlling for the effects of age and sex. This apparent paradox is likely to have arisen from a decline in wing length of fledglings recruiting into the population as a result of a decline in habitat quality or food availability, both of which have been shown to influence feather growth. Infection by blood parasites showed associations with reduced feather growth and may indirectly influence survival, possibly by compounding food stress over-winter

    Unified representation of monitoring information across federated cloud infrastructures

    Nowadays one of the issues hindering the potential of federating cloud-based infrastructures to reach much larger scales is their standard management and monitoring. In particular, this is true in cases where these federated infrastructures provide emerging Future Internet and Smart Cities-oriented services, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), that benefit from cloud services. The contribution of this paper is the introduction of a unified monitoring architecture for federated cloud infrastructures accompanied by the adoption of a uniform representation of measurement data. The presented solution is capable of providing multi-domain compatibility, scalability, as well as the ability to analyze large amounts of monitoring data, collected from datacenters and offered through open and standardized APIs. The solution described herein has been deployed and is currently running on a community of 5 infrastructures within the framework of the European Project XIFI, to be extended to 12 more infrastructures

    Spatiotemporal Characteristics of the Largest HIV-1 CRF02_AG Outbreak in Spain: Evidence for Onward Transmissions.

    Background and Aim: The circulating recombinant form 02_AG (CRF02_AG) is the predominant clade among the human immunodeficiency virus type-1 (HIV-1) non-Bs with a prevalence of 5.97% (95% Confidence Interval-CI: 5.41-6.57%) across Spain. Our aim was to estimate the levels of regional clustering for CRF02_AG and the spatiotemporal characteristics of the largest CRF02_AG subepidemic in Spain. Methods: We studied 396 CRF02_AG sequences obtained from HIV-1 diagnosed patients during 2000-2014 from 10 autonomous communities of Spain. Phylogenetic analysis was performed on the 391 CRF02_AG sequences along with all globally sampled CRF02_AG sequences (N = 3,302) as references. Phylodynamic and phylogeographic analysis was performed to the largest CRF02_AG monophyletic cluster by a Bayesian method in BEAST v1.8.0 and by reconstructing ancestral states using the criterion of parsimony in Mesquite v3.4, respectively.     Interpretation of major structures of payenia applying the gravimetric potential method

    Por medio de la aplicación de los métodos potenciales se pudieron caracterizar los depocentros andinos del borde noroeste de la Cuenca Neuquina, situados en la provincia geológica de Payenia, facilitando el estudio de estructuras emplazadas a nivel cortical. Para ello se efectuaron mediciones gravimétricas apoyadas con diferencial GPS en modo posproceso para obtener las coordenadas de las estaciones (DGPS-700 estaciones), se recopilaron y controlaron más de 10000 valores de gravedad provenientes de distintas campañas relevados durante las últimas tres décadas, que forman parte de la base de datos del Instituto Geofísico Sismológico Volponi (IGSV). Se construyeron mapas gravimétricos que luego fueron filtrados con el objetivo de estudiar las fuentes ubicadas en la corteza superior. Consecuentemente se prepararó un modelo en 3D obtenido por inversión gravimétrica, integrando información geológica y geofísica disponible. El modelo 3D del espesor sedimentario tiene en cuenta variaciones laterales y verticales de la densidad obtenidas de afloramientos y de pozos de exploración de hidrocarburos. Esto permitió identificar altos y bajos estructurales estudiados en 2D por otros autores e identificar una subcuenca, no reportada hasta el presente, en el borde este de la faja plegada y corrida de Malargüe y que se acuña con los afloramientos del basamento cristalino del Bloque de San Rafael.The Andean depocenters in the northwestern border of the Neuquén basin, in the geologic province of Payenia, were characterized by means of the analyzed methods to support hydrocarbon exploration in the area. These techniques allowed studying the upper crust structures to perform oil exploration. Gravity measurements were effected and supported with GDPS (700 stations). More than 10,000 gravity values, which were provided from several campaigns over the last three decades and which constitute the database of the Geophysics and Seismological Institute “Volponi”, were also used and checked. Bouguer gravity anomalies were mapped and filtered to study the upper crust sources. We made a 3D model (by gravity inversion) integrating geological and geophysical data that emphasized the resolution of the structures placed in this area. The 3D model of the sedimentary thickness takes into account lateral and vertical density variations obtained from local wells. This model allowed identification in 2D of high and low structures studied by other authors as wellas a sub-basin, not reported up to now, found on the eastern edge of the fold and thrust belt of Malargüe that is wedged into a raised basement block belonging to the San Rafael blockFil: Anci Araniti, Sheila Anabel.
