The present study analyses the creative reception of mystic literature in Ángela Segovia’s Mi paese salvaje. Through the liquid aesthetic of mystic and of this lyric work, I have studied the particular manner in which a poetics of the fragile and of softening has been developed – transcending the textual boundaries to become a way of understanding the world, ourselves and our bodies, a way of apprehending death and life as necessary parts of existence. Besides, I have analyzed how this softening occurs as well within the lyric language and in the mixing of the different literary traditions in Mi paese salvaje.

In this work I propose a new perspective and interpretation of Agota Kristof’s trilogy through the convergence of two frames: thematic and identity theories. Therefore, I relate the different structures of the double theme in the twins of the story – a central issue in the trilogy – with the condition of exile from the perspective of the autobiographic space and the construction of a narrative identity. Furthermore, this relationship between the double and the exile has been found to be repeated throughout history. Consequently, this work tries to explain in a more exhaustive way the particularities of the trilogy.

The aim of the present work is to establish an analogy between the lyric mode of literature and a non-narrative filmic mode. For that purpose, the image-time from Gilles Deleuze’s theory of cinema will be related to the characterization of lyric according to the theory of literature: specifically, its temporality, density of significance and ambiguity. This comparative will take a cognitive turn, as the Buckland’s cognitive theory of cinema will be compared to the cognitive-literary notion of the deictic projection, as well as the mirror neurons, and the creation of the poetic icon (Freeman, 2011a) in cinema will be hypothesized. Finally, this theoretical comparative will be put into practice through the analysis of Terrence Malik’s movie The Tree of Life (2011), which will be explained according to its lyrical characteristics.

Effects of methanol on morphology and photoluminescence in solvothermal grown ZnO powders and ZnO on Si

    Get PDF
ZnO nano and microstructures were obtained by solvothermal synthesis using hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) as alkaline agent, and water, water/methanol and methanol as solvents. Two types of samples were obtained: a ZnO powder that grew at the bulk solution and ZnO on silicon substrates. The effect of the solvent on the morphology and optical emission was studied, as well as the influence of the growth zone. With increasing methanol content, the morphology changed from nanorods to nanoparticles powders, and from oriented arrangement of nanorods to thin film on silicon substrates. Important changes in photoluminescence induced by the methanol content and depending on the growth zone were also observed.Fil: Marín Ramírez, Oscar Alonso. Universidad Nacional de Tucumán. Panama Papers' offshoring network behavior

The present study analyzes the offshoring network constructed from the information contained in the Panama Papers, characterizing worldwide regions and countries as well as their intra-and inter-relationships. The Panama Papers 2016 divulgence is the largest leak of offshoring and tax avoidance documentation. The document leak, with a volume content of approximately 2.6 terabytes, involves more than two hundred thousand enterprises in more than two hundred countries. From this information, the offshore connections of individuals and companies are constructed and aggregated using their countries of origin. The top offshore financial regions and countries of the network are identified, and their intra-and inter-relationship are mapped and described. We are able to identify the top countries in the offshoring network and characterize their connectivity structure, discovering the more prominent actors in the worldwide offshoring scenario and their range of influence. This work was funded by UDLA-SIS.MGR.20.0

Custom IMU-Based Wearable System for Robust 2.4 GHz Wireless Human Body Parts Orientation Tracking and 3D Movement Visualization on an Avatar

Recent studies confirm the applicability of Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)-based systems for human motion analysis. Notwithstanding, high-end IMU-based commercial solutions are yet too expensive and complex to democratize their use among a wide range of potential users. Less featured entry-level commercial solutions are being introduced in the market, trying to fill this gap, but still present some limitations that need to be overcome. At the same time, there is a growing number of scientific papers using not commercial, but custom do-it-yourself IMU-based systems in medical and sports applications. Even though these solutions can help to popularize the use of this technology, they have more limited features and the description on how to design and build them from scratch is yet too scarce in the literature. The aim of this work is two-fold: (1) Proving the feasibility of building an affordable custom solution aimed at simultaneous multiple body parts orientation tracking; while providing a detailed bottom-up description of the required hardware, tools, and mathematical operations to estimate and represent 3D movement in real-time. (2) Showing how the introduction of a custom 2.4 GHz communication protocol including a channel hopping strategy can address some of the current communication limitations of entry-level commercial solutions. The proposed system can be used for wireless real-time human body parts orientation tracking with up to 10 custom sensors, at least at 50 Hz. In addition, it provides a more reliable motion data acquisition in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi crowded environments, where the use of entry-level commercial solutions might be unfeasible. This system can be used as a groundwork for developing affordable human motion analysis solutions that do not require an accurate kinematic analysis. This research has been partially funded by a research contract with IVECO Spain SL and by the Department of Employment and Industry of Castilla y León (Spain), under research project ErgoTwyn (INVESTUN/21/VA/0003)

Development of Retrotransposon-Based Molecular Markers for Characterization of Persea americana (Avocado) Cultivars and Horticultural Races

Persea americana (avocado) represents one of the most demanded food products worldwide, with an important impact in several agronomy-based economies. The avocado is one of the most salt sensitive and valuable crops. It is therefore necessary to use salt-tolerant varieties, such as the West Indian, for cultivation in locations with soil salinity problems, such as the Canary Islands. Therefore, characterization of avocado cultivars is in demand, as well as development of molecular tools able to easily identify the main avocado cultivars and horticultural races. In the present work, inter-Primer Binding Site (iPBS) and Inter-Retrotransposon Amplified Polymorphism (IRAP) techniques, which are based on retrotransposon with Long Terminal Repeats (LTR), have been implemented for the first time in P. americana, allowing the characterization of genetic variation among cultivars from the three main horticultural races and the identification of potential P. americana LTR sequences. The iPBS approach showed clear advantages over its technical implementation, and allowed a better delimitation of horticultural races, especially when focused on West Indian cultivars. However, both techniques generated reproducible genetic fingerprints that not only allowed genetic characterization of each cultivar analyzed, but also revealed potential molecular markers for the identification of avocado cultivars and horticultural races.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
