    Broadband probing magnetization dynamics of the coupled vortex state permalloy layers in nanopillars

    Broadband magnetization response of coupled vortex state magnetic dots in layered nanopillars was explored as a function of in-plane magnetic field and interlayer separation. For dipolarly coupled circular Py(25 nm)/Cu(20 nm)/Py(25 nm) nanopillars of 600 nm diameter, a small in-plane field splits the eigenfrequencies of azimuthal spin wave modes inducing an abrupt transition between in-phase and out-of-phase kinds of the low-lying coupled spin wave modes. The critical field for this splitting is determined by antiparallel chiralities of the vortices in the layers. Qualitatively similar (although more gradual) changes occur also in the exchange coupled Py(25 nm)/Cu(1 nm)/Py(25 nm) tri-layer nanopillars. These findings are in qualitative agreement with micromagnetic dynamic simulations

    Lepton polarization correlations in B→K∗τ−τ+B \to K^* \tau^- \tau^+

    In this work we will study the polarizations of both leptons (τ\tau) in the decay channel B→K∗τ−τ+B\to K^* \tau^- \tau^+. In the case of the dileptonic inclusive decay B→K∗ℓ−ℓ+B\to K^* \ell^- \ell^+, where apart from the polarization asymmetries of single lepton ℓ\ell, one can also observe the polarization asymmetries of both leptons simultaneously. If this sort of measurement is possible then we can have, apart from decay rate, FB asymmetry and the six single lepton polarization asymmetries (three each for ℓ−\ell^- and ℓ+\ell^+), nine more double polarization asymmetries. This will give us a very useful tool in more strict testing of SM and the physics beyond. We discuss the double polarization asymmetries of τ\tau leptons in the decay mode B→K∗τ−τ+B\to K^* \tau^- \tau^+ within the SM and the Minimal Supersymmetric extensions of it.Comment: 21 pages, 21 figures; version to match paper to appear in PR

    The complete set of solutions of the geodesic equations in the space-time of a Schwarzschild black hole pierced by a cosmic string

    We study the geodesic equations in the space-time of a Schwarzschild black hole pierced by an infinitely thin cosmic string and give the complete set of analytical solutions of these equations for massive and massless particles, respectively. The solutions of the geodesic equations can be classified according to the particle's energy and angular momentum, the ratio between the component of the angular momentum aligned with the axis of the string and the total angular momentum, the deficit angle of the space-time and as well the horizon radius (or mass) of the black hole. For bound orbits of massive test particles we calculate the perihelion shift, we discuss light deflection and comment on the Newtonian limit.Comment: 21 pages; section 3 shortened, references added; accepted for publication in Phys.     New physics effects to the lepton polarizations in the B -> K l^+ l^- decay

    Using the general, model independent form of the effective Hamiltonian, the general expressions of the longitudinal, normal and transversal polarization asymmetries for (l^-) and (l^+) and combinations of them for the exclusive (B -> K l^+ l^-) decay are found. The sensitivity of lepton polarizations and their combinations on new Wilson coefficients are studied. It is found that there exist regions of Wilson coefficients for which the branching ratio coincides with the Standard Model result while the lepton polarizations differ substantially from the standard model prediction. Hence, studying lepton polarization in these regions of new Wilson coefficients can serve as a promising tool for establishing new physics beyond the Standard Model.Comment: 18 pp, 14 figures (postscript formatted), LaTex formatte

    Topologically massive magnetic monopoles

    We show that in the Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory of topologically massive electrodynamics the Dirac string of a monopole becomes a cone in anti-de Sitter space with the opening angle of the cone determined by the topological mass which in turn is related to the square root of the cosmological constant. This proves to be an example of a physical system, {\it a priory} completely unrelated to gravity, which nevertheless requires curved spacetime for its very existence. We extend this result to topologically massive gravity coupled to topologically massive electrodynamics in the framework of the theory of Deser, Jackiw and Templeton. These are homogeneous spaces with conical deficit. Pure Einstein gravity coupled to Maxwell-Chern-Simons field does not admit such a monopole solution

    Shot Noise in Magnetic Tunnel Junctions: Evidence for Sequential Tunneling

    We report the experimental observation of sub-Poissonian shot noise in single magnetic tunnel junctions, indicating the importance of tunneling via impurity levels inside the tunnel barrier. For junctions with weak zero-bias anomaly in conductance, the Fano factor (normalized shot noise) depends on the magnetic configuration being enhanced for antiparallel alignment of the ferromagnetic electrodes. We propose a model of sequential tunneling through nonmagnetic and paramagnetic impurity levels inside the tunnel barrier to qualitatively explain the observations.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure
