LA RAPPRESENTAZIONE CATALETTICA NELLA STOA POST-CRISIPPEA

The article aims to evaluate some appreciable contributions by post-Chrysippean Stoics to the theory of cognitive (kataleptic) impression and its role as a criterion of truth. The inquiry focuses on two testimonies: Sextus Empiricus, M, VII, 253-257, where we find a significant variation – introduced by some ‘recent Stoics’ – of the ancient Stoic theory of the clauses that an impression is supposed to satisfy in order to be considered not only kataleptic, i.e. worthy of assent, but also a criterion of truth; and PBerol. inv. 16545 containing the version of the theory of clauses of the cognitive impression developed by Antipater of Tarsus

Gabriele Giannantoni e il Centro di Studio del Pensiero Antico del CNR

    Get PDF

A Model for SDGs Achievement: Dialogical Global Citizenship Education in Daisaku Ikeda Peace Proposals

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) attainability is considered a critical feature for the United Nations (UN) in this decade by 2030. This paper introduces multidimensional cosmopolitan dialogue (MCD) as a conceptual idea developed in the intersection of dialogue and global citizenship education. MCD can be employed to enhance people\u27s engagement to achieve SDGs. The MCD elements emerged while analyzing Daisaku Ikeda\u27s works, specifically his peace proposals sent to the UN from 2000 to 2019. For Ikeda, dialogue and global citizenship education are central to peace and can accelerate the 17 UN goals achievement. To understand the elements of MCD, a survey was conducted in four universities in Brazil and Japan (n=89). After qualitative and quantitative analysis, the universities were divided into group A and group B, the two more globalized institutions in group A. This study found correlations between dialogue and global citizenship. When students were questioned to express beliefs independently of the universities\u27 influence, all four schools had similar results. In questions related to what extent the university has been influencing student\u27s global perception, there was a significant difference between A and B. Regarding a better comprehension of SDGs, the minority of participants (4%) of B is learning about SDGs, compared with 61.6% of A. About appreciation for different cultures and people, 100% of A indicates a noticeable change in perception after entered the university, contrasted with only 5.8% in B. This study has demonstrated that high engagement in dialogue and global citizenship in higher education can change students’ perception of the world and collaborate for SDGs achievement. The MCD elements can help to increase the quality of learning environments and amplify student\u27s agreement and action to peace

Reduced mitogenic stimulation of human lymphocytes by extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields

AbstractBlastogenesis of human peripheral blood lymphocytes stimulated in vitro by non-specific mitogens (PHA, ConA, PWM) upon exposure to extremely low frequency EMF has been studied. Different frequencies of square waveforms have been used. PHA-stimulation resulted in strong inhibitions as measured by [3H]thymidine incorporation. A frequency window (3–50 Hz) within which ConA-induced blastogenesis was significantly inhibited has been individuated. The mitogenic effect of PWM was significantly affected only at 3 Hz

Influence of CYP19A1 gene expression levels in women with breast cancer: a systematic review of the literature

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed malignant neoplasm in women and is considered a multifactorial disease of unknown etiology. One of the major risk factors is genetic alteration. Changes in CYP19A1 gene expression levels have been associated with increased risk and increased aggressiveness of breast cancer. Increased CYP19A1 gene expression and/or aromatase activity are among the major regulatory events for intratumoral production of estrogens in breast malignant tissues. This systematic review aimed to investigate the influence of CYP19A1 gene expression levels in women with breast cancer. The research was carried out using the PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. Searches were conducted between February 2 and May 15, 2019. Inclusion criteria were studies published between 2009 and 2019, English language publications, and human studies addressing the gene expression of CYP19A1 in breast cancer. A total of 6.068 studies were identified through PubMed (n=773), Scopus (n=2,927), and the Web of Science (n=2,368). After selecting and applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, six articles were included in this systematic review. This systematic review provides evidence that increased or decreased levels of CYP19A1 gene expression may be related to pathological clinical factors of disease, MFS, OS, DFS, WATi, markers of metabolic function, concentrations of E1, FSH, and in the use of multiple exons 1 of the CYP19A1 gene in breast cancer
