indústria do petróleo.
quebras e desgastes nestes equipamentos é freguente. A recuperação é feita
elevada dureza e baixa tenacidade.
_________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT: In this study, the double and triple layers technique in the ASTM 1045 steel welding was applicad with covered AWS E7018-1 and AWS E307-16 electrodes. Semi-V joints welding were employed in both kinds of technique, and electrode. Buttering with two layers were used with five energy ratios: 5/5; 5/10; 10/5; 10/10 and 10/16 kJ/cm for the AWS E7018-1 electrode. In the case of stainless steel AWS 307-16 electrode, the buttering with two and three layers were used in the following energy ratios: 5/5; 5/10; 10/5; 10/10 and 5/5/5; 5/10/10; 10/10/10. It was determined the cross section HAZ microhardness profile of the first layer of the buttering for each semi-V joint. In order to evaluate the efficiency of the applied technique regarding toughness, it was performed the HAZ Charpy-V impact test at 25ºC in the as welded and after heat treatment conditions. The weld metal Charpy-V toughness in the as welded conditions was also performed at 25ºC. The conclusion of the present study was that the double and triple layer techniques were efficient, since considering all energy ratios applied, using both types of electrodes, the as welded HAZ toughness was similar to values obtained for the HAZ after post welding heat treatment, and much larger than values of the base metal toughness
Ferritic stainless steel welding with the A-TIG process
O aço em estudo mostrou um alto grau de fragilidade à temperatura ambiente._________________________________________________________________________________________ RESUMO: The A-TIG welding process presents as main advantage the possibility of increase in the penetration depth using the same parameters as conventional TIG welding. Many researchers show the influence of the active flux on the weld geometry in austenitic stainless steel, however little it is known of the influence of this process in the weld fillet shape and metallurgic characteristics of the weld fillet in ferritic stainless steel. In this work different types of flux are applied with the objective to verify possible influences on the weld fillet in ferritic stainless steel welding, such its visual aspect, the microstructure, the hardness and resistance to the impact of the fusion zone. Bead on plate welds were made without metal filler. Six types of flux had been used, and one flux was prepared in laboratory (TiO2) and the others five were commercial flux. The results indicate that the use of the flux allows increase in the penetration with significant changes in the aspect of the weld fillet. It was verified that the microstructure and the hardness of the weld fillet of this ferritic stainless steel was not been affected by the flux type. The result of the Charpy test in the metal base it was batter in the fusion zone
Rationale, study design, and analysis plan of the Alveolar Recruitment for ARDS Trial (ART): Study protocol for a randomized controlled trial
Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is associated with high in-hospital mortality. Alveolar recruitment followed by ventilation at optimal titrated PEEP may reduce ventilator-induced lung injury and improve oxygenation in patients with ARDS, but the effects on mortality and other clinical outcomes remain unknown. This article reports the rationale, study design, and analysis plan of the Alveolar Recruitment for ARDS Trial (ART). Methods/Design: ART is a pragmatic, multicenter, randomized (concealed), controlled trial, which aims to determine if maximum stepwise alveolar recruitment associated with PEEP titration is able to increase 28-day survival in patients with ARDS compared to conventional treatment (ARDSNet strategy). We will enroll adult patients with ARDS of less than 72 h duration. The intervention group will receive an alveolar recruitment maneuver, with stepwise increases of PEEP achieving 45 cmH(2)O and peak pressure of 60 cmH2O, followed by ventilation with optimal PEEP titrated according to the static compliance of the respiratory system. In the control group, mechanical ventilation will follow a conventional protocol (ARDSNet). In both groups, we will use controlled volume mode with low tidal volumes (4 to 6 mL/kg of predicted body weight) and targeting plateau pressure <= 30 cmH2O. The primary outcome is 28-day survival, and the secondary outcomes are: length of ICU stay; length of hospital stay; pneumothorax requiring chest tube during first 7 days; barotrauma during first 7 days; mechanical ventilation-free days from days 1 to 28; ICU, in-hospital, and 6-month survival. ART is an event-guided trial planned to last until 520 events (deaths within 28 days) are observed. These events allow detection of a hazard ratio of 0.75, with 90% power and two-tailed type I error of 5%. All analysis will follow the intention-to-treat principle. Discussion: If the ART strategy with maximum recruitment and PEEP titration improves 28-day survival, this will represent a notable advance to the care of ARDS patients. Conversely, if the ART strategy is similar or inferior to the current evidence-based strategy (ARDSNet), this should also change current practice as many institutions routinely employ recruitment maneuvers and set PEEP levels according to some titration method.Hospital do Coracao (HCor) as part of the Program 'Hospitais de Excelencia a Servico do SUS (PROADI-SUS)'Brazilian Ministry of Healt
A-TIG welding in Ferritic Stainless Steel
The use of active flux in TIG process can be an alternative to increase the
productivity since this technique increases the depth of penetration of weld bead maintaining
the same parameters of conventional TIG welding. The results obtained indicate that the use
of the traditional way of flux application tend to produce slag, which is hard to remove. In
order to avoid this problem, are approach is by applying two flux strips alongside the joint,
separated by a predetermined distance, defined as parameter \"a\". This technique is called
Contraction Controlled Technique (CCT). The result with this methodology was satisfactory,
allowing increasing the depth of penetration and ensuring a good weld bead surface finish.
The objective of this research is to verify and analyze the influence of the use of Contraction
Controlled Technique with the A-TIG process in the welding of ferritic stainless steel. It also
aims to identify and quantify the main phenomena involved such as increase of the
penetration, the changes in the arc, and changes in mechanical and metallurgical properties
of the ferritic steel. For this purpose, it were done welding of ferritic stainless steels surfaces
using the Contraction Controlled Technique, varying the width of the parameter \"a\", the
distance between the piece and the electrode, the electrical current and welding speed. It
was observed that the geometry of the weld beads has suffered modifications such as
reduction in width and increased of the penetration of the weld beads for all cases where the
active flux was used. The use of the active flux in TIG welding process is a technique that
allows the increased of penetration depth of weld maintain keeping the same parameters
used in the conventional TIG. However, it was not possible to increase the speed of the
welding within the parameters used. When it was employed the technique of controlled
contraction in a disalignment joint, the data showed that it is possible to improve results of
arc direction, direct it to the edge of the board, using active flux and modifing both the
parameter \"a\" and the deviation of the torch (dt). The application of this technique did not
cause changes in the toughness or in the microstructure of the fusion zone the ferritic
stainless steel.
empregados no TIG convencional. A principal desvantagem desta técnica reside
solda. O objetivo desta pesquisa é verificar e analisar a influência do uso da Técnica da
Constrição Controlada com o processo A-TIG na soldagem do aço inoxidável ferrÃtico;
metalúrgicas do aço ferrÃtico.
