Life in Health 2021: Research and Practice

This proceedings contain a selection of papers from the international interdisciplinary conference Life in Health 2021, which took place from 9 to 10 September 2021 in the Czech Republic at the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University. The papers focus on general as well as specific approaches to public health protection and promotion. The findings presented are based on research data and are applicable in health education and general education of children and the whole population

DOMOV (house/home/homeland) as a Czech concept (Questionnaire survey)

This bachelor's thesis is focused on exploring of home conceptualization by Czech native speakers of different ages (preschool children, students, adults). It aims to supplement information identified in the context of international comparative EUROJOS research - Linguistic and cultural picture of the world of Slavs and their neighbors. It's methodologically based on cognitive linguistics and etnolinguistics. It verifies the conceptualization of home based on my questionnaire which was inspired by ongoing research within the EUROJOS project. This survey will be modified; representatives of different age groups are assigned to it. Preschool children are included to this project too and their conceptualization is verified through drawings. In this bachelor's thesis the current results of my own empirical survey are compared with theoretical solutions

Development of the reading literacy of children with mild mental disabilities

The theme of this diploma thesis is the development of literacy of pupils with mild intellectual disability. This thesis is divided into 5 parts. The key words such as literacy, reading literacy, pupil with a mild intellectual disability and schooling of pupils with mild intellectual disability, are described in the first four parts. Chapter number five is the empirical part of the thesis. The aim of this thesis is to find out the level of the reading literacy of pupils with mild intellectual disability at the school for mentally retarded children. A handbook supporting the development of the reading literacy for pupils with mild intellectual disability has been written based on this result. Methods of quantitative research have been used to obtain the final results. One of the research instruments was also a nonofficial test of reading literacy that has for its purpose to determine the level of the reading literacy of mildly mentally disabled pupils.
