Simple closed-form analytical expressions for tilted
astigmatic wave beams and wavepackets that are exact solutions
of the wave equation are constructed. They are obtained through
two different but equivalent derivations, one is based on a complex shift in the Bateman-type solutions, the other employs their
Lorentz transformation. Analytic expressions for the propagation
invariants: energy, momentum and orbital angular momentum of

Gaussian-type beams in longitudinally inhomogeneous, lens-like media. Gradual transition from waveguide to antiwaveguide
We address propagation of paraxial Gaussian-type beam modes in longitudinally inhomogeneous axisymmetric lens-like media, with a specific case of a transition of waveguide into antiwaveguide. Higher-order modes are described in a unified manner using a so-called secondary parabolic equation. Analyzing a linear transition from waveguide to antiwaveguide where beams are described in terms of Airy functions, we conclude that the width of a localized Gaussian-type beam in inhomogeneous media can dramatically grow. This fact should be taken into account in numerical procedures employing summation of Gaussian beams
Energetic [1,2,5]oxadiazolo [2,3-a]pyrimidin-8-ium Perchlorates: Synthesis and Characterization
A convenient method to access the above perchlorates has been developed, based on the cyclocondensation of 3-aminofurazans with 1,3-diketones in the presence of HClO4. All compounds were fully characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystal structure determinations. Initial safety testing (impact and friction sensitivity) and thermal stability measurements (DSC/DTA) were also carried out. Energetic performance was calculated by using the PILEM code based on calculated enthalpies of formation and experimental densities at r.t. These salts exhibit excellent burn rates and combustion behavior and are promising ingredients for energetic materials
spirit-code/spirit: New Desktop GUI, update to C++14
The Spirit framework is designed for atomic scale spin simulations of magnetic systems of arbitrary geometry and magnetic structure, providing a graphical user interface with powerful visualizations and an easy to use scripting interface. An extended Heisenberg type spin-lattice Hamiltonian including competing exchange interactions between neighbors at arbitrary distance, higher-order exchange, Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya and dipole-dipole interactions is used to describe the energetics of a system of classical spins localised at atom positions. A variety of common simulations methods are implemented including Monte Carlo and various time evolution algorithms based on the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation of motion, which can be used to determine static ground state and metastable spin configurations, sample equilibrium and finite temperature thermodynamical properties of magnetic materials and nanostructures or calculate dynamical trajectories including spin torques induced by stochastic temperature or electric current. Methods for finding the mechanism and rate of thermally assisted transitions include the geodesic nudged elastic band method, which can be applied when both initial and final states are specified, and the minimum mode following method when only the initial state is given. The lifetime of magnetic states and rate of transitions can be evaluated within the harmonic approximation of transition-state theory. The framework offers performant CPU and GPU parallelizations.
