Se presentan las biografías de cinco mujeres matemáticas nacidas entre finales del siglo XIX y primeros del siglo pasado, caracterizadas por haber sido las primeras mujeres afroamericanas doctoras en Matemáticas, tras superar con grandes esfuerzos las enormes dificultades de género impuestas por la sociedad en la que vivían. Se pretende con ello reconocer el trabajo de estas mujeres y ponerlas como ejemplos de superación y lucha de la mujer por conseguir unos objetivos similares a los del varón

\u3cp\u3eDesigners are frequently challenged by complex projects in which the problem space is unique, rapidly changing, and the information available is limited. In such cases, combining knowledge from different fields of expertise is required. Furthermore, collaboration during the design process is essential for achieving a meaningful and well-formed solution. Designers therefore regularly find themselves exchanging ideas and reflections in the form of emails, sketches, and images with a group of experts from different backgrounds, working altogether through the creation of a design, its development and proper implementation. This particular chapter focuses especially on issues of synchronous and asynchronous collaboration, team dynamics and the management and monitoring of the early stages of the design process. The overall aim is to identify the essential characteristics and needs of distributed teams when in remote collaboration during the early stages of the design process and to suggest a prototype environment based on the identified requirements and workflow.\u3c/p\u3

This chapter looks at the impact of the first Covid-19 Lockdown on the self-reported income situation and subjective standard of living of people in the second half of life. Among other things, the following questions are examined: Were retirees less likely to report being financially affected by the Covid-19 crisis than people of working age? Can differences in the development of reported income be identified between different occupational groups? To what extent does a reduction in income affect people's assessment of their standard of living

Effect of calcium fertilization on calcium uptake and its partitioning in citrus trees

Calcium (Ca) plays a vital role as a macronutrient in the growth and development of plants. In order of decreasing solubility, Ca can be found in vegetal tissues as soluble Ca (Fraction I), bound Ca (mainly pectates, Fraction II), inorganic insoluble Ca (mainly phosphates and carbonates, Fraction III) and organic insoluble Ca or oxalate (Fraction IV). To explore the impact of Ca fertilizer application on plant growth and its allocation among different fractions, young citrus trees were fed over a complete vegetative cycle with a 44Ca labeled fertilizer (T1-Ca), while control plants (T2) received no Ca fertilizer. The results showed that plants receiving Ca exhibited significantly greater biomass. 44Ca derived from the fertilizer was localized mainly in sink organs (new flush leaves–twigs and fibrous roots). The primary fraction responsible for total Ca partitioning was Fraction II, followed by Fraction III or IV. Citrus plants, commonly found in calcareous soils, demonstrated improved growth with calcium treatments, indicating a positive link between calcium supplementation and enhanced development. The calcium supplied through the fertilizer (44Ca) was predominantly concentrated in sink organs (mainly in Ca-pectate fraction), including new flush leaves and twigs above ground, as well as fibrous roots below ground.YARA Iberian, Madrid | Ref. Análisis de la cultura de seguridad y salud en la incidencia de accidentes en las concesiones mineras 2016-2017

En el Perú y en el mundo, anualmente, se presentan millones de enfermedades, golpes y fallecimientos relacionados a la actividad laboral, de los cuales han ido al alza en algunos rubros como, por ejemplo, en la minería y construcción (Organización Mundial de la Salud, 2005). Romero (2013) en su investigación sobre “Diagnóstico de normas de seguridad y salud en el trabajo e implementación del reglamento de seguridad y salud en el trabajo en la empresa Mirrorteck Industries S.A.”, planteó como objetivo el reglamento de seguridad y salud en el trabajo para la empresa Mirrorteck Industries S.A., mediante la identificación cualitativa de los riesgos presentes en las operaciones de la empresa. Empleó el tipo de investigación básica, de nivel descriptivo, de enfoque cuantitativo; de diseño cuasi experimental. La población estuvo formada por trabajadores de la empresa, la muestra por el 100% de la población trabajadora (14 trabajadores) y el muestreo fue de tipo probabilístico. La técnica empleada para recolectar información fue observación, revisión documental y entrevista y los instrumentos de recolección de datos fueron guía de entrevista. Llegó, entre otras, a las siguientes conclusiones: (a) se debe implementar controles para eliminar o reducir los riesgos identificados en la matriz de identificación de peligros y evaluación de riesgos (b) la inversión en la seguridad y salud ocupacional en una empresa es más beneficiosa en la calidad como en la productividad de sus productos, así como en la protección de sus trabajadores; incluso mayor al costo que representan los riesgos laborales (Romero 2013)

Archaeometric analysis of a fragment of molded stucco cornice with rope from the House of the Mithraeum (Mérida, Spain)

[EN] During the excavations carried out since 2017 in the House of the Mithraeum (Casa del Mitreo) in Mérida a collection of paintings was recovered from Room 11, which had been abandoned in the late 3rd c. CE after a fire. The remains included fragments of molded stucco cornices, with braided esparto grass ropes on the reverse that were used to attach them to the ceiling. This article presents the descriptive and technical study of the finds and their compositional analysis using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Welche Veränderungen ihrer finanziellen Situation berichten Menschen in der zweiten Lebenshälfte nach der ersten Welle der Corona-Pandemie? Ergebnisse des Deutschen Alterssurveys

In der Corona-Krise hat sich die finanzielle Situation vieler Menschen verändert. Eine Studie auf Basis des Deutschen Alterssurveys (DEAS) beschreibt die Einkommenssituation und ihre Auswirkung auf den Lebensstandard von Personen ab 46 Jahren nach der ersten Welle der Corona-Pandemie. Im Juni/Juli 2020 gaben im Rahmen einer Befragung des Deutschen Alterssurveys mehr als 4.700 Menschen zwischen 46 bis 90 Jahren darüber Auskunft, wie sich ihre finanzielle Situation seit Beginn der Corona-Krise verändert hat. Es zeigt sich, dass Rentenbezieher*innen im Jahr 2020 sehr viel seltener Einbußen beim Haushaltseinkommen hinnehmen mussten als Erwerbstätige und Erwerbslose. Unter den Erwerbstätigen sind insbesondere die Selbstständigen betroffen: Über 60 Prozent berichten von einem verringerten Haushaltseinkommen. Personen mit bereits zuvor niedrigem Einkommen sind deutlich häufiger von einer Verringerung ihres Einkommens betroffen als Personen mit höherem Einkommen. Das betrifft sowohl die Gruppe der Rentnerinnen und Rentner als auch Personen ohne Rentenbezug. So verstärkt die Corona-Krise die Einkommensungleichheit von Menschen in der zweiten Lebenshälfte. Was bedeuten diese Veränderungen für den Lebensstandard? Es zeigt sich, dass Personen mit niedrigen Einkommen nicht nur häufiger von Einkommensrückgängen berichten als Personen mit mittleren und hohen Einkommen, sondern dass der Einkommensrückgang bei ihnen auch einen stärkeren Einfluss auf die Bewertung des Lebensstandards hat. Je niedriger das Haushaltseinkommen vor der Krise war, desto häufiger führen Einkommenseinbußen dazu, dass sich die Bewertung des Lebensstandards verschlechtert. Mehr als die Hälfte der Personen mit niedrigen Einkommen, die eine Verringerung ihres Haushaltseinkommens angaben, kann den subjektiven Lebensstandard nicht aufrechterhalten. Personen mit hohen Einkommen können Einkommenseinbußen dagegen anscheinend leichter kompensieren: Nur ein knappes Viertel von ihnen gibt an, dass sich auch ihr Lebensstandard verschlechtert hat. Um eine (weitere) Verschärfung der Einkommensungleichheit durch die Krise abzumildern, sind neben dem Kurzarbeitergeld und Subventionen für Selbstständige weitere sozialpolitische Maßnahmen wichtig, die insbesondere auf Niedrigeinkommensgruppen zielen. Diskutiert werden derzeit beispielsweise Bestrebungen, Minijobs längerfristig in sozialversicherungspflichtige Beschäftigungsverhältnisse umzuwandeln oder Minijobberinnen und Minijobbern vorübergehend ein Anrecht auf Kurzarbeitergeld einzuräumen. Für Menschen mit geringen Haushaltseinkommen ist darüber hinaus zu berücksichtigen, dass auch der Wegfall von karitativen Angeboten während der Corona-Krise, z.B. der Tafeln, durch Alternativen aufgefangen werden sollte
