A new species of Elachistocleis from the Brazilian Pantanal is described. The new species differs from all other Elachistocleis in having the following combination of characters: medium to large-sized species (26.9–40.3 mm); head length about 89% of head width; post-commissural gland poorly developed; dorsum in preservative (EtOH 70%) slightly rough, grayish, with minute, scattered white dots and a large, elongated dark gray spot on the mid-dorsum and posterior part of head; venter gray or brown with white spots separating dorsal and ventral regions; a single vocal sac dark gray; large, irregular, light cream spot on humerus; large, irregular light cream spots on groin; light cream, irregular stripe on posterior surfaces of thighs; and irregular, light cream spots on the proximal internal surface of each shank. This new species increases the number of Oval frogs for the state of Mato Grosso do Sul to four and demonstrates the value of the single protected area in Corumbá for biodiversity conservation. Continuing field investigations in the Maciço do Urucum are necessary to determine the diversity of the herpetofauna in that region
NTS are especially beneficial in areas where events are developing rapidly, such as social awareness, communication and teamwork. Training linked to NTS, such as knowing how to communicate bad news, should be object of study and assessment. The main objective of this study is to understand if the Portuguese medical students are aware of non-technical skills in general and of their use in the communication of bad news in particular, through the identification of different experiences and behavior and action patterns. It´s also necessary to understand the degree of knowledge that students have in relation to the existence of communication protocols.
Methodology: Cross-sectional, observational and descriptive study. During the academic year 2012-2013, all medical students of all Portuguese medical faculties were invited to answer an online questionnaire with open and closed questions, most of them using a 5-point Likert scale.
Results: Less than half of the Portuguese medical students said that they had already had training on non-technical skills. About a quarter of the students complete their medical degree without witnessing what one generally considers the communication of bad news, which might help to explain the fact that less than 20% of the medical students referred that they felt prepared to communicate bad news. It should be highlighted that there is a tendency for men to feel more prepared to communicate bad news than women, however the age and year of studies do not seem to have that same influence in that level of preparation. There are also differences among the several Portuguese medical faculties in what concerns the students’ degree of being prepared to communicate bad news.
Conclusion: Given the disagreement of the answers given by the students in relation to non-technical skills, it can be concluded that the students do not have a perfect notion of what non-technical skills really are. There seems to be an influence in the faculty pupil / tutor ratio in the preparedness that the students perceive in relation to the possibility of having to communicate bad news. Given the low degree of experience in witnessing the communication of bad news from a doctor and the low level of knowledge of communication protocols in medicine, it is concluded that, in order to provide greater contact with this issue, it is necessary to review if the medical curriculums are adjusted to the students’ demanding
Yang-Lee Zeros of the Ising model on Random Graphs of Non Planar Topology
We obtain in a closed form the 1/N^2 contribution to the free energy of the
two Hermitian N\times N random matrix model with non symmetric quartic
potential. From this result, we calculate numerically the Yang-Lee zeros of the
2D Ising model on dynamical random graphs with the topology of a torus up to
n=16 vertices. They are found to be located on the unit circle on the complex
fugacity plane. In order to include contributions of even higher topologies we
calculated analytically the nonperturbative (sum over all genus) partition
function of the model Z_n = \sum_{h=0}^{\infty} \frac{Z_n^{(h)}}{N^{2h}} for
the special cases of N=1,2 and graphs with n\le 20 vertices. Once again the
Yang-Lee zeros are shown numerically to lie on the unit circle on the complex
fugacity plane. Our results thus generalize previous numerical results on
random graphs by going beyond the planar approximation and strongly indicate
that there might be a generalization of the Lee-Yang circle theorem for
dynamical random graphs.Comment: 19 pages, 7 figures ,1 reference and a note added ,To Appear in

Abstract: In recent decades, Brazilian legislation has turned its gaze to deaf people, seeking to guarantee accessibility, linguistic, educational and health promotion rights. However, there are subtle points in these documents that we identify as security devices, a concept proposed by Foucault, as a way of maintaining control of these subjects. Thus, we aim to analyze Law 10,436 of April 24, 2002 and Decree 5626 of December 22, 2005 in order to list the security devices inserted in them. The discussions are based on the theoretical framework of Foucault (2008), using the concepts of security devices, subjection and power relations, developed by him. We list, after a careful reading and supported by the proposed theoretical contribution, seven security devices in the analyzed documents. It is concluded that these devices directly reflect the offer of bilingual education for deaf students and the applications in public policies as a guarantee of these rights.
An approach to technological innovation in Latin America
Science, technology, and (especially their derived product) innovation are some of the most important factors for the economic and social development of a country. However, key aspects should also be considered for innovation to be possible; for instance, cooperation among actors in the innovation system, available qualified human talent, public policies, corporate development, and public-private partnerships. Nevertheless, as a result of multiple combinations of variables, innovation occurrence is difficult to improve, study, and predict. Therefore, the main objective of this work is to describe and compare the state of innovation in different countries in Latin America. For that purpose, the main concepts in this field are defined, and structured secondary sources of information in academic databases and primary sources were reviewed. Moreover, data from those sources were analyzed considering the most relevant variables
Engineers' education in digital era
The Fourth Industrial Revolution has already taken around the world. Decision taking at industries is more and more dependent on new technologies and processes, which demand updating and adjustment of the engineering education. Through a systematized literature revision, this article aims to search, select and prioritize bibliographic sources which reflect relevant initiatives that may work as a reference for engineering bachelor´s degree courses. 50 most relevant articles were selected and analyzed from 4,333 articles published in the Scopus database. The results show the 10 main authors, the 9 main journals and the 10 main institutions among the 50 most relevant articles, as references in the analyzed sample. Regarding aspects for the improvement of engineers education, one can highlight PBL (Project-Based Learning), Competency-Based Education and focus on holistic education. This research may encourage reflection, awareness and improvement by the ones interested in the study of engineers' education, by integrating market demand, learners' expectations and academic excellence, in order to contribute to the growth of scientific and practical knowledge and of society technological development.
According to the data of the Health Behaviour in School – Aged Children: 11 – 15 years old (HBSC), of 1997/ 98 and 2002, the smoking epidemic is growing in Portugal, particularly among the female adolescents. It seems to indicate that the preventive actions in our country are not working out, which can be an outcome of not considering important issues like gender differences. Much has been researched on the determinants of smoking but the existed data has not been conclusive or specific of Portugal.
An Investigation Project is ongoing, aiming to deepen the knowledge of the adolescents’ determinants of smoking by gender and to develop more effective preventive actions. Preliminary results of the Project are here presented.Segundo os dados do Health Behaviour in School - Aged Children: 11 - 15 anos
