In a joint research program the Embrapa-Centro de Pesquisa Agropecuária dos Cerrados (CPAC), the Embrapa-Centro Nacional de Pesquisa de Trigo (CNPT), the Empresa de Pesquisa Agropecuária de Minas Gerais (Epamig), the Empresa Goiana de Pesquisa Agropecuária (Emgopa, todays Emater-GO), and the Cooperativa Agropecuária Mista do Programa de Assentamento Dirigido do Alto Paranaíba (Coopadap-MG), released a new cultivar – EMBRAPA 22 – indicated for areas with splinkler irrigation in the States of Goiás and Minas Gerais, and Federal District. Recently this cultivar was recomended for Bahia and Mato Grosso States. EMBRAPA 22 is originated from crossings carried out in the International Center for Corn and Wheat Breeding (CIMMYT), Mexico. It was introduced in Brazil through line colections and was identified in the trials of the Central Brazil research network as line CPAC 841153. The cultivar has higher qualities for the bread industry; has low grain shattering, it is resistant to stem rust and leaf rust under field conditions, and shows medium tolerance to lodging. In several trials, in different places and years, the yield of EMBRAPA 22 was 6% higher than the cultivar control Anahuac in Goiás and Federal District and 4% higher in Minas Gerais State.
Agronomic performance and genetic gain by selection of physic nut in three Brazilian regions
The objective of this study was to evaluate the agronomic performance and genetic gain by the selection of half-sib families of physic nut grown in three Brazilian regions. Based on previous phenotypic selection, three progeny tests were performed, in 2008, in the municipalities of Planaltina, DF, Nova Porteirinha, MG, and Pelotas, RS. A randomized complete block design was used, with three replicates, and five plants per plot. Randomly collected seeds from a population without selection were used as control. There was a significant interaction between the effects of genotypes and environments. Estimates of variance components and genetic parameters indicated that it is possible to obtain genetic gains from selection of the best families in the evaluated environments. In each environment, at least one family was selected with a higher performance than the control treatment. Mass selection in the three environments provided 72% of genetic gains. The agronomic performance had a high correlation coefficient between the environments of Planaltina and Nova Porteirinha, which did not occur in Pelotas. Genotype x environment interaction should be considered in the recommendations of physic nut genetic material for different environments

Adaptability and stability of irrigated wheat genotypes in the Cerrado of Central Brazil
The aim of this work was to estimate the adaptability and stability of irrigated wheat genotypes under conditions of Central Brazil savannah area. Grain yield of five cultivars and nine lines of irrigated wheat was measured in assays of cultivation value and use. The assays were conducted during the years 2005 and 2006, in six locations in Minas Gerais State, three in Goiás State and one in Federal District. The data of grain yield were submitted to individual and joint ANOVA, in order to estimate the adaptability and stability parameters. Significant differences were detected between genotypes in 14 of the 16 locations evaluated. None of the evaluated genotypes have presented the behavior predicted by the method of Cruz and collaborators. Cultivar BRS 264 and the CPAC 02167 lineage were superior in all the tested conditions in the Central Brazil savannah (general adaptability). Among the other evaluated genotypes, it can be highlighted the responsiveness of the cultivars BRS 207 and EMBRAPA 22 to the improvement of environmental conditions, and the specific fitness of BRS 254 and EMBRAPA 42 cultivars to environments unfavorable to irrigated wheat
Multidifferential study of identified charged hadron distributions in -tagged jets in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV
Jet fragmentation functions are measured for the first time in proton-proton
collisions for charged pions, kaons, and protons within jets recoiling against
a boson. The charged-hadron distributions are studied longitudinally and
transversely to the jet direction for jets with transverse momentum 20 GeV and in the pseudorapidity range . The
data sample was collected with the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy
of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.64 fb. Triple
differential distributions as a function of the hadron longitudinal momentum
fraction, hadron transverse momentum, and jet transverse momentum are also
measured for the first time. This helps constrain transverse-momentum-dependent
fragmentation functions. Differences in the shapes and magnitudes of the
measured distributions for the different hadron species provide insights into
the hadronization process for jets predominantly initiated by light quarks.Comment: All figures and tables, along with machine-readable versions and any

Study of the decay
The decay is studied
in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of TeV
using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5
collected by the LHCb experiment. In the system, the
state observed at the BaBar and Belle experiments is
resolved into two narrower states, and ,
whose masses and widths are measured to be where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second
systematic. The results are consistent with a previous LHCb measurement using a
prompt sample. Evidence of a new
state is found with a local significance of , whose mass and width
are measured to be and , respectively. In addition, evidence of a new decay mode
is found with a significance of
. The relative branching fraction of with respect to the
decay is measured to be , where the first
uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third originates from
the branching fractions of charm hadron decays.Comment: All figures and tables, along with any supplementary material and
