    Revisiting νμ(νˉμ)\nu_\mu(\bar\nu_\mu) and νe(νˉe)\nu_e(\bar\nu_e) Induced Quasielastic Scattering from Nuclei in Sub-GeV Energy Region

    We present the results of charged current quasielastic(CCQE) scattering cross sections from free as well as bound nucleons like in 12C^{12}C, 16O^{16}O, 40Ar^{40}Ar and 208Pb^{208}Pb nuclear targets in Eν(νˉ) ≤ E_\nu(_{\bar\nu})~\le~ 1 GeV energy region. The results are obtained using local Fermi gas model with and without RPA effect. The differences those may arise in the electron and muon production cross sections due to the different lepton mass, uncertainties in the axial dipole mass MAM_A and pseudoscalar form factor, and due to the inclusion of second class currents have been highlighted for neutrino/antineutrino induced processes.Comment: Published in Journal of the Physical Society of Japan (NuInt-2015

    Penerapkan Model Pembelajaran Two Stay Two Stray Dengan Menggunakan Media Visual Dalam Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Akuntansi Siswa Kelas XI Smk Swasta Pab 8 Sampali Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengertahui apakah Penerapan Model Pembelajaran kooperatif Two Stay Two Stray(TSTS) dengan menggunakan Media Visual dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar akuntansi siswa Kelas XI SMK PAB 8 Sampali Tahun Pelajaran 2016/2017. Teknik Analisis Data dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Teknik dan alat pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah melalui tes dan lembar observasi. Untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian ini menggunakan tes dalam bentuk uraian. Dan yang menjadi subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMK Swasta PAB 8Sampali yang berjumlah 42 orang siswapada Tahun Pelajaran 2016/2017. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan 2 siklus, yang setiap siklus nya mempunyai tahapan-tahapan yaitu Perencanaan, Pelaksanaan, Observasi, danRefleksi. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Two Stay Two Stray ternyata dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar akuntansi pada kompetensi dasar pencatatan transaksi kedalam neraca lajur. Setelah mengamati hasil belajar dari tes awal (sebelum menerapakan model pembelajaran Two Stay Two Stray) dari 42 siswa hanya 7 dengan persentase 16,67% orang mampu mencapai KKM yang telah ditentukan. Setelah menerapkan model pembelajaran Two Stay Two Stray terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar yaitu pada siklus I terdapat 12 orang siswa yang tuntas dengan persentase 28,58% dan setelah siklus II menjadi 35 orang siswa yang tuntas dengan persentase 83,33% dengan katagori tinggi. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa Kelas XI SMK Swasta PAB 8 Sampali tahun Ajaran 2016/2017

    A review on experimental results for direct photon production in heavy ion reactions is given. A brief survey of early direct photon limits from SPS experiments is presented. The first measurement of direct photons in heavy ion reactions from the WA98 collaboration is discussed and compared to theoretical calculations.     Energy efficient residential house wall system

    The energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission by the residential housing sector are considered to be one of the largest in economically developed countries. The larger energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission not only put additional pressure on finite fossil fuel resources but also cause global warming and climate change. Additionally, the residential housing sector will be consuming more energy as the house demand and average house floor area are progressively increasing. With currently used residential house wall systems, it is hard to reduce energy consumption for ongoing house space heating and cooling. A smart house wall envelope with optimal thermal masses and insulation materials is vital for reducing our increasing energy consumption. The major aim of this study is to investigate thermal performance and energy saving potential of a new house wall system for variable climate conditions. The thermal performance modelling was carried out using commercially developed software AccuRate®. The findings indicate that a notable energy savings can be accomplished if a smart house wall system is used

    Structural, elastic, and electronic properties of newly discovered Li2PtSi3 superconductor: Effect of transition metals

    First-principles calculations within the density functional theory (DFT) with GGA-PBE exchange-correlation scheme have been employed to predict the structural, the elastic and the electronic properties of newly discovered lithium silicide superconductor, Li2PtSi3, for the first time. All the theoretical results are compared with those calculated recently for isostructural Li2IrSi3. The present study sheds light on the effect of replacement of transition metal element Ir with Pt on different mechanical, electronic, and superconducting properties. The effect of spin-orbit coupling on electronic band structure was found to be insignificant for Li2PtSi3. The difference in superconducting transition temperatures of Li2PtSi3 and Li2IrSi3 arises primarily due to the difference in electronic energy density of states at the Fermi level. Somewhat reduced Debye temperature in Li2PtSi3 plays a minor role. We have discussed the implications of the theoretical results in details in this study.Comment: Submitted for publicatio

    Cold black holes and conformal continuations

    We study Einstein gravity minimally coupled to a scalar field in a static, spherically symmetric space-time in four dimensions. Black hole solutions are shown to exist for a phantom scalar field whose kinetic energy is negative. These ``scalar black holes'' have an infinite horizon area and zero Hawking temperature and are termed ``cold black holes'' (CBHs). The relevant explicit solutions are well-known in the massless case (the so-called anti-Fisher solution), and we have found a particular example of a CBH with a nonzero potential V(ϕ)V(\phi). All CBHs with V(ϕ)≢0V(\phi) \not \equiv 0 are shown to behave near the horizon quite similarly to those with a massless field. The above solutions can be converted by a conformal transformation to Jordan frames of a general class of scalar-tensor theories of gravity, but CBH horizons in one frame are in many cases converted to singularities in the other, which gives rise to a new type of conformal continuation.Comment: 15 pages, late

    First principles investigations of the electronic, magnetic and chemical bonding properties of CeTSn (T=Rh,Ru)

    The electronic structures of CeRhSn and CeRuSn are self-consistently calculated within density functional theory using the local spin density approximation for exchange and correlation. In agreement with experimental findings, the analyses of the electronic structures and of the chemical bonding properties point to the absence of magnetization within the mixed valent Rh based system while a finite magnetic moment is observed for trivalent cerium within the Ru-based stannide, which contains both trivalent and intermediate valent Ce.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figures, for more information see http://www.physik.uni-augsburg.de/~eyert

    Photons from Quark Gluon Plasma and Hot Hadronic Matter

    The productions of real photons from quark gluon plasma and hot hadronic matter formed after the nucleus - nucleus collisions at ultra-relativistic energies are discussed. The effects of the spectral shift of the hadrons at finite temperature on the production of photons are investigated. On the basis of the present analysis it is shown that the photon spectra measured by WA98 collaboration in Pb + Pb collisions at CERN SPS energies can be explained by both QGP as well as hadronic initial states if the spectral shift of hadrons at finite temperature is taken into account.     The Positive Effects of Acute Resistance Exercise on Blood Lipid Profiles in College-Aged Men

    Low- to moderate-intensity exercise has been widely recommended for people at any age to improve cardiovascular health due to its positive effects on blood lipids and lipoproteins. Recently, many people have been participating in not only low- to moderate-intensity, but high-intensity exercise as well in order to improve their cardiovascular health. However, it is unclear whether high-intensity exercise, particularly resistance exercise, can positively influence blood lipids and lipoproteins. Purpose: The current study examined the effects of low- and high-intensity of resistance exercise on changes in blood lipids and lipoproteins. Methods: In a randomized, cross-over design, 10 healthy recreationally resistance-trained (at least 3 to 6 days per week for a minimum of one year) college-aged men participated in the study. The participants performed a lower body resistance exercise, consisting of the leg press and unilateral knee extension, at two different exercise intensities (low-intensity: 50% of 1-RM and high-intensity: 80% of 1-RM). The volume of the intensities of exercise was similar. Overnight fasting blood samples were collected at baseline and 3-hr, 24-hr, and 48-hr post exercise for each intensity to determine blood lipids and lipoproteins (TC, Lp(a), VLDL-C, LDL-C, and HDL-C). A 2 (intensity) X 4 (time) ANOVA with repeated measures was used to examine the mean differences in intensity and time on blood lipids and lipoproteins. The Bonferroni pairwise comparisons were conducted as post hoc to locate the significant mean differences. If a significant interaction was found, the follow-up simple effects test was conducted. A p-value \u3c .05 was set for the statistical significance. Results: Either low- or high-intensity resistance exercise did not significantly alter Lp(a), VLDL-C, or HDL-C. However, regardless of the intensity, LDL (p = .045) and TC (p = .028) significantly decreased by 7.90 (8.76 ± 0.32 mg/dL) and 6.80% (11.34 ± 0.93 mg/dL), respectively, at 48-hr post exercise. Conclusion: Regardless of the intensity level, resistance exercise may positively alter blood lipid profiles by decreasing TC and LDL-C in recreationally-trained men. Therefore, the current study suggests that high-intensity resistance exercise can also be an effective method to improve cardiovascular health
