Interpersonal Communication Model for Children with Special Needs

    Get PDF
The emphasis of this study is on how children who have special needs communicate with one another (deaf). Participant observation, interviews, and documentation are among the methods that are used throughout the data-gathering process. According to the findings of the research, the interpersonal communication model for deaf children is made up of two different models, one of which is the dyadic communication model. This kind of dyadic communication does not take place during the teaching and learning process; rather, it takes place outside of regular class hours. The whole communication model comes in at number two. Throughout the teaching and learning process, as well as outside of regular class hours, total communication is used. employing both symbolic interaction theory and ethnography theory as analytic frameworks. This demonstrates that the process of the interpersonal communication model is carried out face to face and at close distances, which makes it simpler to speak with deaf children since they are more accessible

Numerical Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Circular Columns Strengthening With CFRP under Concentric and Eccentric Loadings

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to explore the numerical behavior of circular RC short columns with different degrees of confinement with CFRP (0%, 25%, 50%, and 100%) wraps under concentric and eccentric loading. The numerical analysis carried out by using an improved concrete plastic-damage model (CDPM) implemented in ABAQUS software for finite element (FE) analysis. The FE model simulated a total of twenty-four numerical specimens. The findings were matched to published experimental test results in the literature. The findings of the FE model and the experimental data were good similar. As a consequence, the model was found to be valid. The numerical results shows that as load eccentricity increased, the load carrying capacity of columns decreased for unconfined specimens, whereas the decline in strength for confined specimens becomes limited as the degrees of confinement ratio increased. In addition, increasing the CFRP confinement ratio improves the column's load-bearing capability at the same load eccentricity

The study aims to examine Jordan's industrial sector by using descriptive statistical and econometric methods. For the purposes of analysis, we used a time series data for the Jordanian industrial sector (Mining, manufacturing, and electricity) from 1990 to 2017. The study came out of the importance of the Jordanian industrial sector. During the study period, the industrial sector ranked first among the sectors in terms of relative importance in its contribution to GDP at an annual average rate of 16% . Comparing the industry's contribution to Jordan's GDP with other countries, Jordan is still relatively late compared to semi-industrialized developing countries, like Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, and Egypt. In addition, there was a fluctuating rise in labor productivity in the industrial sector, this may be due to the increase in the amount of fixed capital, as expressed by high capital intensity technology, or to the development of labor’s skills and competencies. The study recommended the need to work to improve the output of the educational system in line with the requirements of revitalization of the industrial sector, and work to increase the efficiency of vocational training institutions in order to raise the productive efficiency of local labor because of the impact of the revitalization of the industrial sector. This study aimed at identifying self-esteem and its relationship to some demographic variables among students with learning disabilities in Irbid, Jordan. The study used the descriptive methodology and used a scale to measure the levels of self-esteem among 2000 male and female students from the third and fourth grades in primary schools in Irbid city. The results revealed that the level of self-esteem was average. There were apparent significant differences in the levels of self- esteem due to the effect of gender, and the differences came in favor of males. The results also showed no statistically significant differences due to the effect of the school grade. In light of the results of the study, the researcher recommends raising the level of the students’ self-esteem through cooperation between school administrations, teachers, and students’ parents, and researchers conducting developmental studies, comparing levels of shyness and self-esteem among students at different ages and environments

Domestic Debt and Economic Growth in Jordan An Empirical Analysis

    Get PDF
Jordan’s economy is among the smallest in the Middle East, with insufficient supplies of water, oil, and other natural resources underlying the government's heavy reliance on foreign assistance. Other economic challenges for the government include chronic high rates of poverty, unemployment, inflation, and a large budget deficit. The study investigates the impact of debt on economic growth in Jordan applying the OLS technique for the period of 2000 to 2014. The study indicates that the stock of domestic debt affects the economic growth positively and statistically significant. This indicates that loans partially were utilized by the government for investment oriented projects. On the other hand, the increasing figure of the public debt indicates that the rest used for private and public consumption purposes, which do not bring any return. The study also indicates that the domestic debt servicing affects the economic growth negatively in Jordan. This result is due to the fact that huge amount of money goes for non-development expenditures and also the rest goes for unnecessary expenditures. The study suggests some policies which should be taken by the government to decrease both domestic debt and domestic debt servicing. Keywords: Domestic debt, Economic growth , Jordan Economy

Characteristics of Polymeric Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composite (PFRCC) under Uniaxial Compression

    Get PDF
This study aimed to evaluate the compressive characteristics and toughness of polymeric fiber reinforced cementitious composites (PFRCC). In the experimental program, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers were used to prepare two groups of PFRCC cylinders with different fiber contents. The main factor considered in this study was the reinforcing index. Several parameters were investigated, i.e. compressive strength, elastic modulus, strain at peak stress, Poisson’s ratio and toughness of PFRCC. The results revealed that there was a reduction in both compressive strength and elastic modulus as the reinforcing index increased, while a significant increase in the strain at peak stress was observed. Moreover, a comparison was made between different methods of toughness estimation and it was found that 7.9 was the best reinforcing index for PVA fibers  based on the energy absorption performance and ductility of PFRCC. Furthermore, an empirical model is proposed in this paper to predict the PFRCC-PVA compressive stress-strain curve. The proposed model features new formulas to calculate a number of important coefficients to plot the curve based on the reinforcing index value. Besides that, the model had good convergence compared to the experimental results, with perfect values for both variance and correlation coefficient
