This article discusses the position of the DKPP after the Constitutional Court Decision Number 32/PUU-XIX/2021 and the power of its decision. As is known, after the Constitutional Court Decision Number 32/PUU-XIX/2021, the DKPP Decision, which was originally final and binding, became unconstitutional if it was not interpreted as only binding on the President, KPU, Provincial KPU, Regency/City KPU and Bawaslu. The research method used is a legalresearch method using statutory approach, historical approach, and conceptual approach to be able to find new formulation of DKPP structuring design after Constitutional Court DecisionNumber 32/PUU-XIX/2021.The results of this study found that the weakening of the authority of the DKPP through the decision of the Constitutional Court Number 32 / PUU-XIX / 2021, should also be followed by the weakening of the DKPP institution, because after the final and binding characteris weakened by the Constitutional Court, the DKPP no longer has the urgency to be used as a permanent institution. The Constitutional Court should affirm the institutional status of the DKPP as part of the institution exercising judicial power, so that the DKPP has a more definite status and its decisions remain final and bindin

A Study on Financial Performance of the Jordanian Commercial Banks using the CAMEL Model and Panel Data Approach

    Get PDF
The purpose of this research paper is to extensively investigate and examine the effect of the CAMEL model variables on the profitability and financial soundness of the thirteen Jordanian commercial banks for the period of 2013 to 2019, the primary data were collected from the published audited financial reports of the Jordanian commercial banks. The study uses CAMEL model variables of Capital adequacy, Asset Quality, Management efficiency, Earnings ability, and Liquidity management to rank banks as per their overall performance and measuring their effect on banks’ profitability measures of Return on Assets and Return on Equity separately through applying the fixed effect regression model. It is concluded that the ranking approach shows that Bank of Jordan was in the top position followed by the Capital Bank of Jordan. Jordan Ahli Bank was in the lowest rank in most positions. Furthermore, the empirical results indicates that Non-Interest Income to Total Assets and Net Interest Income to Total Loans and Advances have significant positive relationships with both profitability measures whereas cost to Total Income and Non-Interest Income to Total Assets have strong negative relationships with the profitability measures. In addition, Equity to Total Assets has strong negative relationship with ROE. The study suggests that Jordanian commercial banks can improve their profitability through the concentration on main activities, efficiently managing their capital adequacy, maintaining high quality level of lending policy, and utilization of full assets. Additionally, the current study recommends conducting more studies on banks’ performance determinants with an expanded scope and using more financial models besides the CAMEL model

Ibn Taymiyya And Ibn Al-Mutahhar Al-Hilli: Shi\u27i Polemics And The Struggle For Religious Authority In Medieval Islam

    Get PDF
Taqi al-Din Ibn Taymiyya (1263-1328), one of the most controversial thinkers in Islamic religious history, was repeatedly imprisoned during his lifetime. Today, he is revered by what is called the Wahhabi movement and championed by Salafi groups who demand a return to the pristine golden age of the Prophet. His writings have also been used by radical groups, such as al-Qaeda, to justify acts of violence and armed struggle. In order to explain the widespread present-day influence and prominence of a rather obscure medieval figure, this volume offers a fresh perspective on his life, thought and legacy. The articles contained herein, written by some leading authorities in the field, study Ibn Taymiyya\u27s highly original contributions to Islamic theology, law, Qur\u27anic exegesis and political thought. Contrary to his current image as an anti-rationalist puritan, this collection shows Ibn Taymiyya to be one of the most intellectually rigorous, complex, and interesting personages in Islamic history. This is the first comprehensive academic treatment of Ibn Taymiyya to appear in a Western language in over half a century. It should be of major importance to scholars of Islamic intellectual history, as well as to students of modern Islamic movements and ideologies

Geometric Integrators with Application To Hamiltonian Systems

Geometric numerical integration is a relatively new area of numerical analysis. The aim is to preserve the geometric properties of the flow of a differential equation such as symplecticity or reversibility. A conventional numerical integrator approximates the flow of the continuous-time equations using only the information about the vector field, ignoring the physical laws and the properties of the original trajectory. In this way, small inaccuracies accumulated over long periods of time will significantly diminish the operational lifespan of such discrete solutions. Geometric integrators, on the other hand, are built in a way that preserve the structure of continuous dynamics, so maintaining the qualitative behaviour of the exact flow even for long-time integration. The aim of this thesis is to design efficient geometric integrators for Hamiltonian systems and to illustrate their effectiveness. These methods are implicit for general (non-separable) Hamiltonian systems making them difficult to implement. However, We show that explicit integrators are possible in some cases. Both geometric and nongeometric integration methods are applied to several problems, then We do a comparison between these methods, in order to determine which of those quantities are preserved better by these methods. In particular, We develop explicit integrators for a special case of the restricted 3-body problem known as Hill’s proble
