The impact of the prevailing organizational culture on the adoption of green marketing in chemical-industry companies in three Arab states in west Asia
The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of the prevailing organizational culture on the adoption of green marketing in chemical-industry companies in three countries: Syria, Kuwait and Jordan. The research used a survey methodology. A questionnaire was designed and administered simultaneously in the three countries using three different samples consisting of 220 respondents, 12 respondents, and 132 respondents, respectively. The questionnaires collected from the three samples were coded and analyzed. The study concluded that the organizational culture in the samples from the three countries has positive attitudes towards the adoption of green marketing. The Kuwaiti sample has the highest level of positive attitudes in comparison with the other two samples. The task-oriented culture is the dominant prevailing organizational culture in the chemical-industry companies located in Syria and Jordan, but a fulfillment-oriented culture is the dominant prevailing organizational culture in chemical-industry companies located in Kuwait. Our analysis shows that the impact of the prevailing organizational culture differs in accordance with differences in employee education level, country, and years of experience.Organizational culture; Chemical industrial companies; Green marketing; Culture
The Biogeochemical Cycling of Particulate Trace Metals off the Southwest African and Peruvian Shelves
Marine particles in the ocean play an important role in the marine biogeochemical cycling of trace metals (TMs), yet our understanding of the marine biogeochemical cycling of TMs remains incomplete. Additionally, particulate TM (pTM) datasets from key dynamic regions of the global ocean, such as continental shelves, upwelling sites, and oxygen minimum zones (OMZs), are lacking, impeding progress toward fully understanding the processes which impact pTM cycling and distributions. This work studies the biogeochemical cycling of particulate iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), cobalt (Co), aluminum (Al), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), zinc (Zn), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), titanium (Ti), vanadium (V), and phosphorus (P) on the SW African and Peruvian shelves, employing a chemical leach to marine particles collected on two separate research expeditions. The distributions and biogeochemical cycling of biogeochemical tracers, molybdenum (Mo), barium (Ba), chromium (Cr), tungsten (W), thorium (Th), and uranium (U) are explored only on the SW African shelf. Transects from these sites traversed through contrasting biogeochemical regimes with diverse particle sources, including the Benguela and Humboldt upwelling regions, OMZs, and the Congo River plume, offering unique gradients under which pTM cycling can be studied. Differentiating between labile and refractory pTM fractions, provided a more accurate assessment of the biogeochemical behavior and fate of pTMs within the different marine environments. Elemental ratios and particle type proxies were also utilized to determine redox and scavenging processes, and biological uptake of TMs in the water column. This approach allowed for the characterization of the principal carrier phases of pTMs in the water column, which is a critical step toward constraining the mechanisms that control their fate and interactions with dissolved phases in the water column

The Role of Nonprofit Organizations in the Context of Increased Living Costs in Ontario
This research highlights the crucial role of non-profit organization in supporting the well-being of local communities in Ontario, particularly amidst increased cost of living. The increased cost of living has led to a higher CPI, negatively impacting the quality of life for many Ontarians and Canadians. While the vulnerable population become increasingly uncertain about the future, the role of non-profit organizations becomes prominent as effective community leaders. This research will illustrate how non-profit organizations address the most significant challenges the vulnerable population face today in terms of their quality of life, which are: housing insecurity, food insecurity, and transportation. The research methodology section will illustrate a case study of a local non-profit organization within the Windsor-Essex region in Ontario. The results indicate a growing demand and reliance on non-profit organizations of their services
New Discovery of Fe - Mn Mineralization along Abu Asal Fault Dead Sea Area, Central Jordan
This work is describing a new discovery of iron - manganese deposit in central Jordan. The geology and mineralogy of Lower Cretaceous Kurnub sandstone hosted Fe- Mn mineralization in the area of Wadi Abu Asal was investigated. The mineralization is interesting as it's restricted to the Neogene NNE-SSW trending fault zone, which is related and parallel to the major Dead Sea fault system. In addition, it is outcropping in an area that compresses many hot springs and geothermal indications. The vein type mineralization is the dominating feature, which indicated an epigenetic mineralization. The major oxides geochemistry reveals the hydrothermal origin of the ore, were Fe and Mn have negative correlation with Si and Ca, which are the main elements forming the minerals of the hosting rocks. The mineral phases of iron deposit are the goethite and magnetite. Keywords: Fe-mineralization; Jordan, hydrothermal, veins, goethite; magnetit
Traffic Accidents in Jordan
In Jordan, traffic accidents constitute a major health problem. They are considered the second leading cause of death. This paper investigated the characteristics of traffic accidents in Jordan and evaluated the safety impact of policy measures undertaken in 2008, including intensification of police enforcement and implementation of traffic law with stiff penalty levels. To accomplish these objectives, accidents’ data of 1998 through 2007 were obtained from Jordan Traffic Institute and other related sources. Results of analysis revealed that Jordan has experienced huge human and economic losses as well as social and emotional negative impacts. Children, young and elderly have been exposed to an elevated pedestrian accident risk. Young drivers of ages less than 25 years and elderly of ages over 60 years are over-involved in accidents. Carelessness and aggressive driving behavior were the major causes of traffic accidents. The results of analysis also indicated that motorization level can be used to explain variations in traffic accidents and fatalities. Furthermore, intensifying of traffic enforcement and implementing traffic law with stiff penalty levels were found to have a strong positive safety impact on accidents and fatalities. Finally, it is recommended to restructure and empower the Higher Council for Traffic Safety to be able to draw a comprehensive strategy with clear vision and rational safety policies to tackle the traffic accidents’ problem
Molecular genetic analysis of inherited kidney disease in Saudi Arabia
PhD ThesisInherited abnormalities of the kidney are frequently observed and represent a significant
cause of morbidity and mortality. The globally increasing number of patients with end-
stage renal disease (ESRD) urges the identification of molecular pathways involved in
renal pathophysiology, to serve as targets for therapeutic intervention.
Data from 2010 estimates the Saudi Arabian population to be 27 million, with one of
the highest growth rates in the world. The population is characterized with high
consanguinity rate, large family size, and a tribal structure. The consanguinity rate
results in a high incidence of autosomal recessive genetic disorders. The population is at
high risk of renal failure, with 133 incident cases per million populations per year that
require renal replacement therapy. In such a population, characterization of new kidney
disease gene loci using homozygosity mapping and positional cloning within
consanguineous families is a powerful strategy. This study aimed to adopt this
approach in order to search for known and novel molecular causes of inherited kidney
diseases in the Saudi population. We studied patients and families with nephrotic
syndrome, renal ciliopathies, nephrocalcinosis and renal agenesis. For nephrotic
syndrome, we found that the most common genetic cause was a homozygous mutation
in the NPHS2 gene. Novel and reported mutations in known nephrosis genes were
detected. In a family with Bardet Biedl Syndrome, we utilized zebrafish and renal
epithelial cells to determine the functional significance of a novel BBS5 mutation. In
another consanguineous family with an autosomal recessive syndrome of distal renal
tubular acidosis, small kidneys, and nephrocalcinosis we identified a novel locus on
chromosome 2. We also describe the molecular genetic investigation of families with
bilateral renal agenesis. In conclusion, in the highly consanguineous Saudi population
we have utilized a variety of genetic approaches to identify and characterize novel
genetic variants causing inherited renal disease.King Khalid Foundatio
