Aim: The aim of this study was to validate the automatic tracking of facial landmarks in 3D image sequences captured using the Di4D system (Dimensional Imaging Ltd., Glasgow, UK). MATERIALS AND METHODS: 32 subjects (16 males; 16 females) range 18-35 years were recruited. 23 facial landmarks were marked on the face of each subject with a 0.5 mm non-permanent ink. The subjects were asked to perform three facial animations from the rest position (maximal smile, lip purse and cheek puff). Each animation was captured by a 3D stereophotogrammetry video system (Di4D). A single operator digitized landmarks on captured 3D models and the manual digitised landmarks were compared with the automatic tracked landmarks. To investigate the accuracy of manual digitisation, the same operator re-digitized 2 subjects (1 male and 1 female). RESULTS & CONCLUSION: The discrepancies in x, y and z coordinates between the manual digitised landmarks and the automatic tracked facial landmarks were within 0.5 mm and the mean distance between the manual digitisation and the automatic tracking of corresponding landmarks using tracking software was within 0.7 mm which reflects the accuracy of the method( p value was very small). The majority of these distances were within 1 mm. The correlation coefficient between the manual and the automatic tracking of facial landmarks was 0.999 in all x, y, and z coordinates. In conclusion, Automatic tracking of facial landmarks with satisfactory accuracy, would facilitate the analysis of the dynamic motion during facial animations

Innovation in prediction planning for anterior open bite correction

    Get PDF
This study applies recent advances in 3D virtual imaging for application in the prediction planning of dentofacial deformities. Stereo-photogrammetry has been used to create virtual and physical models, which are creatively combined in planning the surgical correction of anterior open bite. The application of these novel methods is demonstrated through the surgical correction of a case

Measuring the impact of entrepreneurial projects on unemployment rates in Iraq: An applied study for the period (2019-2004)

This paper aimed to know the impact of pilot projects in addressing the problem of unemployment in Iraq for the period (2004-2019) using both the number of projects and the number of workers in them as independent variables and unemployment rates as a dependent variable, and that there is an inverse relationship between the number of projects and the number of workers on the one hand, and unemployment rates on the one hand. other, and that any increase in the number of projects and the number of workers in them leads to a decrease in unemployment rates, and the joint integration model was used based on the method (ARDL), Where it was found that there is a relationship of joint integration between the pilot projects and the unemployment rate, as well as the existence of a long-term inverse relationship that moves from the number of workers in the pilot projects towards unemployment rates

This study aimed to identify the effectiveness of a career counseling program based on the theoretical developmental approach in order to raise the level of career awareness among technical college students in Saudi Arabia. The study sample consisted of 32 students from the technical colleges students in Tabouk, who were distributed randomly into two groups, the experimental group and control group so that each group consisted of (16 students). To achieve the objectives of the study, a career counseling program based on the developmental theoretical approach in career counseling, was developed and applied to experimental group , and a scale of career awareness was applied to the two groups before and after the application of the counseling program to the experimental group. The Study concluded that there were significant differences between the experimental and control groups in raising the level of carrier awareness in favor of the experimental group. Also, the results assured the effectiveness of the career counseling program after one month from the termination of the program

Artificial Immunity and Features Reduction for effective Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Prognosis

Abstract The diagnosis and prognosis of breast cancer is an important, realworld medical problem. As an intrusion detection problem is one of the applications of artificial immune system, in this paper proposes a novel scheme that uses a robust immune system formed from clonal selection theory and principal component analysis for breast cancer diagnosis and Prognosis. Like the job done by Antigen Presenting Cells APCs in natural immune system, this work use PCA as an aided tool for immune cells in the selection for the most important features that can detect the cancer and forward them for the immune system in training phase which generates an artificial lymphocytes ALCs and save them as immune memory. It is important to note that the training phase was done on 20% of the dataset, whereas the testing phase was done on the remaining 80% of the data set which are considered as unknown cases for the ALCs. The study proved that the best results obtained when the PCA select minimum reasonable number of features, while in the training phase the diagnostic accuracy is 0.99 and the prognostic accuracy is 0.9, and the memories ALCs achieved in the testing phase a diagnostic accuracy 0.97 and prognostic accuracy 0.88

Effect of Admission Type on the Risk of Bloodstream Infections among Critically Ill Patients with Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters in a Tertiary Center in Saudi Arabia

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the association between type of admission (medical versus surgical) with risk of central line associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) in a university hospital setting. A retrospective analysis was performed on critically ill patients who had peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC) during the period between January 2010 and October 2012. Demographic data, duration of catheterization and type of admission were obtained from patien

Crystallization of calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide in the heat exchangers of once-through multistage flash (MSF-OT) desalination process

YesIn this paper, a dynamic model of fouling is presented to predict the crystallization of calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide inside the condenser tubes of Once-Through Multistage Flash (MSF-OT) desalination process. The model considers the combination of kinetic and mass diffusion rates taking into account the effect of temperature, velocity and salinity of the seawater. The equations for seawater carbonate system are used to calculate the concentration of the seawater species. The effects of salinity and temperature on the solubility of calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide are also considered. The results reveal an increase in the fouling inside the tubes caused by crystallization of CaCO3 and Mg(OH)2 with increase in the stage temperature. The intake seawater temperature and the Top Brine Temperature (TBT) are varied to investigate their impact on the fouling process. The results show that the (TBT) has greater impact than the seawater temperature on increasing the fouling

Use of social media for the improvement of safety knowledge and awareness among Saudi Arabian phlebotomists

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to investigate the use of social media for the improvement of safety knowledge and awareness among phlebotomists.MethodsAs this study was intended to arrive at specific conclusions using empirical evidence, a deductive quantitative cross-sectional online survey design was adopted. A total of 521 phlebotomists participated in the survey, and 86 incomplete responders were removed, resulting in a final sample of 435 considered in this study. T-tests and ANOVA were used to analyze the data.ResultsA total of 41.6% stated that social media was very effective, and 31.5% stated that it was somewhat effective in improving safety knowledge and awareness. in addition, this study revealed no major differences between male and female participants (p > 0.05) with respect to the effectiveness of social media. However, statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) among the age groups were identified in relation to the effectiveness of social media and the intention to use it in the future.ConclusionSocial media applications are effective for knowledge dissemination among healthcare professionals
