    Get PDF
Sports technologies have been in continuous and uninterrupted 'change and development' from the day they first started to emerge until today. With each passing year, sports technologies are developing by taking reference from each other through new technologies. With the development of sports technologies, generations, encounter more 'new and advanced' technologies every day. Sports have an important place in protecting the physical and psychological health of individuals. In addition to physical health, mental health also has an important place in sports. In this respect, the aim of the current research is to examine different technology areas in sports in terms of mental health. For this purpose, as a data collection tool; DergiPark, Higher Education Institution National Thesis Center (YÖKTEZ) and Google Scholar were searched for Turkish sources and Web of Science and PubMed databases for English sources with the keywords "Sport Technology", "Sport Mental Health", "Sport Entertainment" and "Technology Addiction". As a result of the research; it is seen that technology in sports is used for different purposes such as 'entertainment, exercise and performance sports'. In some cases, the use of technology in more equipment or time than needed can create technology addiction in individuals and negatively affect their mental health. On the other hand, it is thought that conscious technology users can transform their existing sports/exercises into an efficient and fun way with sports technologies developed for different purposes. In this respect, it was concluded that, as with all new developing technologies, it is important to determine the needs well when using these technologies and to be a conscious user of sports technologies in terms of mental health

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between six-minute walk test and muscle pain, muscle strength in visually disabled people. The study includes 50 visually disabled people, aged between 17, 21 ± 5,3. Participants were classified into three categories according to their degree of vision (B1, B2, B3). All participants were administered to six-minute walk test, muscle test and muscle pain threshold test.In B2 and B3 group there is significant moderate correlation between the walk distance and muscles. There were significant differences in pain threshold of quadriceps, pain threshold of hamstring and pain threshold of tibialis anterior among the groups. The data were evaluated using IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0 package software, and the level of significance was taken as p < 0.005.When the visually disabled people were classified according to their visual degree, it was noticed that visual area is important while walking. Muscle power is thought to be effective in walking ability. The muscles of the legs, backs and buttocks act as they walk and allow them to stay in balance. In addition to the muscular strength, people with muscle pain do not want to continue walking because they are feeling pain in their muscles as they walk.As a result, if we want to increase walking distance, which is an important part of daily life activities of visually impaired individuals, an exercise program should be organized to strengthen muscle groups that are effective in walking and to rehabilitate painful muscles

The aim of the study was to determine the changes in blood hormone and respiratory parameters in recovery phases. 28 voluntary men participated in the study, with an average age of 19.75±1.61 years and playing active football during the league season. Wingate Anaerobic Power Test and Respiratory Function Test (RFT) were applied to the subjects who were randomly divided into two groups, active and passive group. Blood samples were collected from and RFT was applied to all subjects before and after the test. Cortisol hormone, Partial Oxygen Pressure (PO2), Partial Carbon Dioxide Pressure (PCO2), lactic acid (LA) values were obtanied with datas taken from blood samples. The forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume (FEV1), and rate of 1. Second of forced expiratory volume to the forced vital capacity (FEV1 / FVC) were measured by the PFT test. SPSS 24.0 program was used for statistical evaluation of the data. As a result; both 5-minute active and passive recovery methods did not reduce the cortisol ratio, but continued to increase in minute increments. In terms of PO2, passive recovery was found to be a more effective method than active recovery. 5 minutes of active and passive recovery did not reduce LA level and did not affect each other significantly. FVC and FEV1 values were found to be higher in the active recovery group than in the passive recovery group at the onset of AT recovery. Active recovery was found to have positive effects on vital capacity FVC and FEV1

The aim of our study is to examine the cardiovascular endurance systems of sedentary high school students. The 112 sedentary individual was taken to the 1600 meter walking test run, and the 120 sedentary individual Harward step test. While both individuals were participating in the same test, weight, height, oxygen saturation, and heart rate of participants were measured before starting the test. As soon as the test is finished (recovery period), oxygen saturation and heart rate variability of individuals are measured at 1, 3, 5 minutes. All measured variables were analyzed and compared. Analysis of the data was done according to the SPSS statistical program and the significance level was accepted as p <0.05. In the 1600-meter walking test, it was observed that there was a significant difference in mean heart rate between males and females p<0.05. There was a significant difference between the mean values of the time of completion of the 1600 m running test by males and females (p < 0.05). During the 1600-meter walking and Harward step test recovery period, there was no difference in the participants' parameters. There was no significant difference between oxygen saturations at beginning, recovery 1st, 3rd, and 5th minutes in both tests. Significant differences were found between heart rate and oxygen saturation values (beginning, recovery 1st, 3rd, and 5th minutes) in the intra-group comparisons of both groups. Participants' heart rates began to increase with exercise, but remained above the initial heart rate level during recovery. Participants' body mass indexes were observed to be within normal values. We think that can be increased cardio respiratory and cardiovascular fitness levels and can been created lifelong exercise habits by regular exercise programs are given to Sedentary high school students. Thus, we believe that the young population can be prevented from getting sick by providing healthier, social, active individuals

    Get PDF
Recently, food safety which has become one of the decisive factor in demand for all food products, is becoming a major concern due to increasing sensitivity of consumers to food production and consumption. As honey is produced and marketed on more uncontrolled conditions, which is relatively different from other agricultural products, the food safety issue is becoming more intense. In this study, it is examined what kind of applications are applied in food safety in bee products in Turkey. In the second part of the study, it is aimed to determine the importance of food safety in honey consumption of urban consumers in Niğde province based on the primary data and to put consumer's consciousness in this subject. For this purpose, it was conducted a survey by interviewing face to face with 286 consumers. In the study, besides basic statistical methods, univariate analysis of variance and factor analysis method were also used to determine the effective factors in purchasing according to income groups. As a result of the research, it was determined that there is a great lack of confidence in the quality of honey in purchasing from the market due to both the concern of sugar added fraudulent honey and residual problem by consumers. For this reason, consumers prefer to buy honey from directly producers rather than market. In addition, consumers are more likely to believe that honey is less safety than in previous years. Health consciousness is an important factor in consumers purchasing honey and health and quality consciousness develops positively especially as the income level of consumers’ increases

    Get PDF
This study aimed to investigate the cytomorphological effects of heavyweight and lightweight mesh on the ilioinguinal nerve in an experimental animal model. Methods Sixteen New Zealand male rabbits were included in the study. The left inguinal regions of the first six animals were assigned as controls and the right inguinal regions were assigned as the sham group. The left inguinal regions of the remaining 10 animals were assigned as the lightweight mesh group and the right inguinal regions were assigned as the heavyweight mesh group. No intervention was performed in the control group. In the sham group, only ilioinguinal nerve exploration was performed. In mesh groups, ilioinguinal nerve exploration was performed and the mesh was implanted on the ilioinguinal nerve. After three months, ilioinguinal nerve specimens were excised from both sides for cytomorphological examination. Results Myelin sheath thickening, separation of the myelin layers, and myelin vacuolization were more pronounced in the heavyweight mesh group compared to the lightweight mesh group. The G-ratio was moderately increased in the heavyweight mesh group when compared to other groups. The ratio of fibers with = 9 mu m diameter was higher in the heavyweight mesh group than in the other groups (p<0.05).Conclusion Both of the meshes induce cytomorphological alterations on the adjacent nerve tissues caused by foreign body reaction and compression. Ilioinguinal nerve degeneration was more pronounced in the heavyweight mesh than in the lightweight mesh. Histological alterations on the ilioinguinal nerves caused by different meshes may be related to chronic pain after hernia surgery. We believe our study will serve as a guide for future studies on the topic

    No full text
This paper examines the association between agricultural subsidies and farm efficiency using stochastic frontier analysis on beekeeping farming. Turkey has huge honey production potential. However, traditional production mode negatively affects the total production and productivity. In this study, it was used primary data from 54 producers in Nigde province in 2017. Producers were selected through stratified sampling method. According to results, the mean technical efficiency of the beekeeping farms is 0.43. The beekeepers were found to be generally fairly inefficient. The most important factors, which determine technical inefficiency, are agricultural subsidies, major occupation for beekeeping, full frame numbers with honey per hive, pure race of bee, type of beekeeping farming and hive numbers. The result reveals that the government subsidy scheme had a net negative impact on the technical efficiency of beekeeping farm. This is the ?rst time that such an impact assessment of government subsidies on technical efficiency in the beekeeping farming has been carried out in Turkey. For this reason, it is expected that the results will be useful both for scientists and policy decision makers in agriculture and rural development
