Ostwald ripening in Two Dimensions: Correlations and Scaling Beyond Mean Field

We present a systematic quasi-mean field model of the Ostwald ripening process in two dimensions. Our approach yields a set of dynamic equations for the temporal evolution of the minority phase droplets' radii. The equations contain only pairwise interactions between the droplets; these interactions are evaluated in a mean- field type manner. We proceed to solve numerically the dynamic equations for systems of tens of thousands of interacting droplets. The numerical results are compared with the experimental data obtained by Krichevsky and Stavans for the relatively large volume fraction $\phi=0.13$. 本稿は、キプリングの葬儀の際の文学色のなさにヒントを得て、なにより彼を公的発言者と見做し、それとして彼が成長してゆく過程を4 段階に分けて跡づける。第1 段階は、彼がインドでジャーナリストをしていた時期を中心に、職業作家となることを決心しイギリスにむけて発つまでを指す。第2 段階は、ロンドンで作家としてデビューし、続いてアメリカへと渡った時期。第3 段階は、イギリスに戻りベイトマンズに居を定めるまで。それと、それ以後の長い30 年間を第4 段階とする。それぞれの占める時間的なスパンは均等ではないが、さまざまな伝記が示すとおり、そのように時間的にはいびつな段階を踏みながらキプリングは公的発言者として成長していった。当然のことながら、それぞれの段階にはその時期の代表作が書かれているが、本稿において中心的と見做されるのは、『キム』でも『ジャングル・ブック』でもなく、おもに詩である。なにより時代の動きに敏感であることを求められる公的発言者という立場を考えれば、そうなって当然である。創作に時間のかかる小説ではそうした要求に十分には応えられないからである。本稿における議論を助けてくれる詩作品を並べると、おおよそ以下のようになるだろう。まず『兵舎のバラッド』のうち、「ダニー・ディーヴァー」と「ガンガ・ディン」。次に「生粋のイギリス人」と「退場の歌」。それと、「島国の人々」、最後に「忘れっぽい奴」と続く。公的発言者としての成長過程を跡づけるという本稿の目標設定により、議論の射程は、およそベイトマンズに落ちつくまでのキプリングの前半生を扱うことになる。天才だったキプリングは、人生半ばにしてすでに公的発言者として完成されていたからである。Rudyard Kipling was, first and foremaost, a public speaker. These stages are not represented by the novels　or short stories, but by a series of poems, including “Danny Deever,” “Gunga Din,” “The　Native-Born,” “Recessional,” “The Islanders,” and “The Absent-Minded Beggar.” In 1902,　Kipling moved into Bateman’s with his family, after having become established a public　speaker. Molecular Beam Epitaxy and p-type Doping of ZnMgSTe Quaternary Alloys

ZnS-based ZnMgSTe quaternary alloy layers have been grown by molecular beam epitaxy. The bandgap of ZnMgSTe has been estimated from the reflectance spectra, and it was found that it increases with increasing Mg content, while it decreases with increasing Te content. Nitrogen acceptor doping to Zn1−xMgxS1−yTey layers has also been investigated. The layers with Te content y>0.1 were found to be p-type, and the layer with the larger Te content exhibited lower resistivity. From these results, it seems that the ZnMgSTe quaternary alloy with appropriate composition possesses both a wide bandgap and p-type conductivity
