    Get PDF
Today, the region in general but also Kosovo faces a lack of electricity on the one hand and environmental pollution on the other hand from existing power plants where electricity is produced for the community in general in thermo-plants Kosovo A and Kosovo B. The purpose and importance of this paper is that for the samples taken through the layers (floors) of coal by drilling to extract the calorific values of coal (ETU) and the percentage of ash, whose parameters were analysed in the laboratory of geo-mechanics according to the standards (ISO 9001) in order to eliminate the weak part of coal that would have a positive impact on increasing electricity production but also on reducing environmental pollution within the allowed values according to European Union standards. To carry out this work, a large number of drillings were performed from which 91 samples were taken at different depths, these samples were analysed and, at the same time, statistical processing was done in order to find the average caloric value of (ETU) and the content of ash with the lowest value, these parameters will help us to determine the method to be applied during the exploitation in order to create better conditions for the transport process to the power plants by means of conveyor belts and, at the same time raising the quantity of energy production and reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2). Doi: 10.28991/CEJ-2022-08-08-05 Full Text: PD

    Get PDF
The main focus of this research project is to identify the extent to which companies in the IT sector in Kosovo are being affected by the skill gaps and the ways through which they are trying to bridge these skill gaps. While the IT industry in Kosovo shows great growth potential, the skill gap appears to be a prevailing problem that hinders this sector’s development. The study analyzes the implications of the skill gap for the growth of private companies and the sector in general; as well as the ways used by the sector to narrow the skill gap. To analyze both the demand and supply side of the gap, primary quantitative and qualitative data collected during the end of the year 2021 and the beginning of the year 2022 are collected from the IT companies, employees, education institutions, and training sectors. Analyzing data through different aspects allows for the study to reach conclusions and give recommendations that should serve all members of the IT industry, starting from enterprises as the main focus of this study, to education organizations, and finally, individuals working on or seeking to join this sector. From a broader perspective, this study contributes to the existing literature on the skill gap in different sectors in Kosovo and specifically in the IT sector

The importance and characteristics of life insurance

    Get PDF
Life insurance should be one of the most important insurances, because the life of a human being is one of the most expensive things. However, unlike in the developed countries, in many other countries like Macedonia, this type of insurance is not really propagated. In many cases, from the life of a single human being depend the lives of other human beings. The head of a family should be considered as an example. With his/her death the welfare of the other members of the family is endangered, who after his/her death can face financial and material difficulties. As a result to this risk life insurance needs to be more propagated in the insurance market. Keywords: insurance, life insurance, saving

MICROFINANCE AS A TOOL FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN TRANSITIONAL COUNTRIES: EXPERIENCE FROM KOSOVO

    Get PDF
Many consider microfinance as a tool for poverty decrease. Even more, especially in post-conflict countries such as Kosovo, micro-financial institutions are seen as an opportunity of reconciliation. This paper explores the implication of microfinance in Kosovo since the war ended, evaluating its effects in terms of overall poverty reduction and if microfinance institutions improved access to credit for microenterprises. Post-conflict countries such as Kosovo are the best examples where microfinance can provide its contribution on poverty reduction and better access to finance needed for startup micro-entrepreneurs. Kosovo like many states in the Balkan region has a high unemployment rate with the youngest population in Europe. Though, microfinance remains blurred for many, even for them who would benefit from this opportunity as it is not clear whether it delivers on its promises. The objective of this paper is to introduce the matter of microfinancing to a broader audience in Kosovo, to assess the economic impact of micro-financial institutions, and who has benefited the most. This paper will also introduce topics that are new and can serve as opportunities for future studies in microfinance in Kosovo

THE IMPACT OF DEMOGRAPHIC FACTORS ON CONSUMER PURCHASING PREFERENCES IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES: EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE FROM KOSOVO

This paper analyses the role and the level of impact that different demographic factors have on buying preferences during the selection process between local and imported goods in developing and emerging economies, with a specific focus on the Kosovo region. A total of 630 questionnaires were distributed, from which 536 valid responses and an empirical study is applied to test the hypothesis. A probability sample (randomly selected), which was stratified by seven regions throughout the country was applied, by covering all levels of the society, cultural background, different locations (urban and rural), different levels of education, and income. Some of the respondents have shown a preference for imported goods and were willing to pay a price premium for it based on the quality offered by top producers (around 41.79%). Whereas, 58.21% of respondents prefer local products. It is proven that there is a correlation between demographic factors and buying preferences process when deciding between local and imported products. Whereas, price is considered as the main factor in the buying process in developing countries, due to the low income, whereas the level of imported products depends on the country’s ability to fulfill the local needs with local products. &nbsp

    The Super Pages Search Engine

    Get PDF
With the huge growth of websites, the people find difficult to go to every page and waste of time reading every site. A query is formed by the user with a set of keywords that describe their item of interest, and then the search engine returns the pages that include that set of keywords. If a user wants to find information about a topic, the search engine Google will not help much. The user will have to read the   pages that have been returned by the search engine, find related concepts and then issue new queries. For instance, we need to find information about the current economic problems in Europe. A query will return pages on that but not many on the Greek, Italian, Portuguese, and Irish issues specifically. The information returned is too generalized. The user has to form new specific queries to get that in- formation. So a search engine is needed which instead of returning pages in some simple flat list, returns the information in some more structured way. The pages that have relationships between elements that they contain or similarities of some kind should represent one group of links or one category. All these ideas are implemented in”The SUPER PAGES search engine” program .This report describes how the program is done, the experiments, the algorithm is used and the problems encountered during the work. GOING GLOBAL: GLOBAL MARKETING, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ENVIRONMENTS IN TRANSITIONAL ECONOMIES

    Get PDF
The era of change has reached also countries in every corner of Europe, which until now were closed and have had a centralized economy. The best example is countries in South Eastern Europe (SEE), in particular countries emerged from ex-Yugoslavia, which are going through the transition process for many years. Like many developed countries that have changed the way of operating, developing and in transition countries are trying to switch from one economy to another, from closed and centralized to open and a free market economy. As the market is becoming more open for new entries, highly decentralized organizations are operating across a broad range of countries, without tending to centralize their operation to a single location. Hence, this has minimized the importance of a geographic area (as well as the home region) and is no longer treated as a priori to be the primary base for any (or all) functional area of global organizations. Many functions that are part of every organization, such as sourcing, manufacturing, marketing and sales is performed in the location(s) around the world, which are seen as most suitable for that particular function to be carried. All those changes, even many other that are seen that will happen in the near future, has been realized thanks to technology improvement and globalization that shaped the world. As the technology supports to govern human preferences; globalization has its impact on economic realities

Companies must continually adapt to technological advancements to gain a competitive edge and enhance performance. Active employee engagement plays a crucial role in achieving and improving performance, necessitating promoting motivation and job satisfaction. This study explores the relationship between motivation, job satisfaction, and employee performance, with employee engagement as a mediator. Specifically, the research focuses on Information Technology (IT) companies in Kosovo and various locations across the European Union involved in different projects. The sample for this study comprises 112 respondents selected through convenient sampling. The research model is analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis with SmartPLS 3.0 software. The empirical findings indicate that motivation positively influences employees’ engagement and performance in various IT positions. However, job satisfaction has no direct impact or exerts a relatively low influence. Nonetheless, employee engagement significantly enhances employee performance by mediating the effects of motivation and job satisfaction. The research findings have significant managerial implications, emphasizing the importance of actively promoting motivation, innovation, and job satisfaction to increase employee involvement and achieve desired outcomes
