Comparative Study and Simulation of Different Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) Techniques Using Fractional Control & Grey Wolf Optimizer for Grid Connected PV System with Battery
This chapter presents the comparative analysis between perturb & observe (P&O), incremental conductance (Inc Cond), and fractional open-circuit voltage (FOCV) algorithms using fractional order control & a new meta-heuristic called Grey Wolf optimizer (GWO) for extracting the maximum power from photovoltaic (PV) array. PV array systems are equipped with maximum power point tracking controllers (MPPTCs) to maximize the output power even in the case of rapid changes of the panel’s temperature and irradiance. In this chapter, three cost effective MPPTCs are introduced: FOCV, P&O and Inc. Cond. The output voltage of the array is boosted up to a higher value so it can be interfaced to the local medium voltage distribution network
Crosstalk between SARS-CoV-2 and Testicular Hemostasis: Perspective View
The infection of SARS-CoV-2 and its COVID disease caused several economic and social disturbances worldwide. This chapter aimed to determine the severity of SARS-CoV-2 infection on the testicular hemostasis. This overview showed the possible mechanisms of how the SARS-CoV-2 can infect the testes. SARS-CoV-2-induced pneumonia, cytokine storm, and immunosuppressive state may transfer from the respiratory tract to the blood circulation, binding to testicular angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 receptors (ACSE2) and initiate its intracellular replication and action (cytotoxicity), that disrupting the testicular hemostasis. In severe states, COVID-19 disease can increase body/testes temperature, which may destroy the germ cell in the long term. The final mechanism is that SARS-CoV-2 infection causes stress, panic, and anxiety states, causing brain disorders that may perturb the hypothalamic–pituitary-testes-axis (HPTA). This disturbance may then lead to testicular dysfunction. The severity of COVID-19 may be age-dependent and depending on the expression and distribution of testicular ACSE2 receptors. Also, this chapter not only showed the sexual transmission of SARS-CoV-2 but also followed its impact on sexual behavior, pregnancy, and progeny. Thus, maintaining the testicular hemostasis may play a vital role in a healthy life for the offspring. Further research and clinical studies are required to explore this issue
Thermodynamics of charged and rotating black strings
We study thermodynamics of cylindrically symmetric black holes. Uncharged as
well as charged and rotating objects have been discussed. We derive surface
gravity and hence the Hawking temperature and entropy for all these cases. We
correct some results in the literature and present new ones. It is seen that
thermodynamically these black configurations behave differently from
spherically symmetric objects
Integrin-linked kinase expression in myeloid cells promotes colon tumorigenesis
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common forms of cancer worldwide and treatment options for advanced CRC, which has a low 5-year survival rate, remain limited. Integrin-linked kinase (ILK), a multifunctional, scaffolding, pseudo-kinase regulating many integrin-mediated cellular processes, is highly expressed in many cancers. However, the role of ILK in cancer progression is yet to be fully understood. We have previously uncovered a pro-inflammatory role for myeloid-specific ILK in dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis. To establish a correlation between chronic intestinal inflammation and colorectal cancer (CRC), we investigated the role of myeloid-ILK in mouse models of CRC. When myeloid-ILK deficient mice along with the WT control mice were subjected to colitis-associated and APCmin/+-driven CRC, tumour burden was reduced by myeloid-ILK deficiency in both models. The tumour-promoting phenotype of macrophages, M2 polarization, in vitro was impaired by the ILK deficiency and the number of M2-specific marker CD206-expressing tumour-associated macrophages (TAMs) in vivo were significantly diminished in myeloid-ILK deficient mice. Myeloid-ILK deficient mice showed enhanced tumour infiltration of CD8+ T cells and reduced tumour infiltration of FOXP3+ T cells in colitis-associated and APCmin/+-driven CRC, respectively, with an overall elevated CD8+/FOXP3+ ratio suggesting an anti-tumour immune phenotypes. In patient CRC tissue microarrays we observed elevated ILK+ myeloid (ILK+ CD11b+) cells in tumour sections compared to adjacent normal tissues, suggesting a conserved role for myeloid-ILK in CRC development in both human and animal models. This study identifies myeloid-specific ILK expression as novel driver of CRC, which could be targeted as a potential therapeutic option for advanced disease
Pinning down the Glue in the Proton
The latest measurements of at HERA allow for a {\it combination} of
gluon and sea quark distributions at small that is significantly different
from those of existing parton sets. We perform a new global fit to
deep-inelastic and related data. We find a gluon distribution which is larger
for x \lapproxeq 0.01, and smaller for , and a flatter input sea
quark distribution than those obtained in our most recent global analysis. The
new fit also gives . We study other experimental
information available for the gluon including, in particular, the constraints
coming from fixed-target and collider prompt production data.Comment: 8 pages, LATEX, 6 figs available as .uu fil
Flavour and Collider Interplay for SUSY at LHC7
The current 7 TeV run of the LHC experiment shall be able to probe gluino and
squark masses up to values larger than 1 TeV. Assuming that hints for SUSY are
found in the jets plus missing energy channel by the end of a 5 fb run,
we explore the flavour constraints on three models with a CMSSM-like spectrum:
the CMSSM itself, a Seesaw extension of the CMSSM, and Flavoured CMSSM. In
particular, we focus on decays that might have been measured by the time the
run is concluded, such as and . We also analyse
constraints imposed by neutral meson bounds and electric dipole moments. The
interplay between collider and flavour experiments is explored through the use
of three benchmark scenarios, finding the flavour feedback useful in order to
determine the model parameters and to test the consistency of the different
models.Comment: 44 pages, 15 figures; v3: minor corrections, added references,
