It shows up as excessive cell proliferation on the skin. The likelihood of a successful recovery is greatly enhanced by an early diagnosis. More than that, it might reduce the need for or the frequency of chemical, radiological, or surgical treatments. As a result, savings on healthcare expenses will be possible. Dermoscopy, which examines the size, form, and color features of skin lesions, is the first step in the process of detecting skin cancer and is followed by sample and lab testing to confirm any suspicious lesions. Deep learning AI has allowed for significant progress in image-based diagnostics in recent years. Deep neural networks known as convolutional neural networks (CNNs or ConvNets) are essentially an extended form of multi-layer perceptrons. In visual imaging challenges, CNNs have shown the best accuracy. The purpose of this research is to create a CNN model for the early identification of skin cancer. The backend of the CNN classification model will be built using Keras and Tensorflow in Python. Different network topologies, such as Convolutional layers, Dropout layers, Pooling layers, and Dense layers, are explored and tried out throughout the model's development and validation phases. Transfer Learning methods will also be included in the model to facilitate early convergence.     Information needs and Information-seeking behavior of undergraduate students: A remote area perspective

    Nowadays it is the prerequisite of the libraries to know the information-seeking behavior of the users and provide the services according to their needs. The prime purpose of the current study is to examine the information needs, information sources, information-seeking behaviors. As well as find out the challenges the undergraduate face while using the library. The survey research method was used to collect the data. With the help of a structured questionnaire, the data was collected and a random sampling method was used for this purpose. The results of the study revealed that 220(62%) undergraduates need information for their semester work and 102 (29%) need job-related information. Moreover, 155 (44.2%) undergraduates used social media to get their needed information, and 130(37.1%) followed by a discussion with friends. 80 (22.85%) of undergraduate students visit the library for study purposes, 70(20%) visit the library for reading newspapers and for political information. While seeking the needed information, undergraduate students have reported different barriers such as poor internet connectivity, lack of ICT facilities, not being aware of the usage of OPAC, and ICT knowledge limitation. The findings of the current study will be helpful for librarians towards the restructuring of information literacy programs to enhance the current information-seeking behavior of undergraduate students. It may inform the higher authorities about the obstacles faced by the undergraduate students in information-seeking and thus stimulate them towards the up-gradation of internet and ICT facilities in the institutions. This study addressed the gap in the literature on information-seeking behavior in the Context University of Balochistan. It uncovered characteristics that both limit and enhance undergraduate students’ use of the library. To assist their learning, the insights could lead to the creation of a stable information literacy program at the University of Balochistan

    Current clinical practice for the use of hypnotics to manage primary insomnia in adults in a tertiary hospital in Saudi Arabia: an audit study

    Despite the risks associated with hypnotics and their recent increased use in Saudi Arabia, there are no specific national guidelines for using these medicines to treat insomnia nor are there any data on how these medicines are currently prescribed. There is the potential, however, that some physicians might be adhering to the US guidelines. The current audit study was aimed to assess the current practice in treating insomnia with hypnotics in Saudi Arabia, and to evaluate its agreement with the US guidelines. The audit was conducted using data collected between April 2012 and March 2017 at King Fahad Central Hospital (KFCH; Jazan), of patients who were either prescribed benzodiazepines (BZDs) or Z-drugs or diagnosed with insomnia. The audit criteria followed two US guidelines for the management of insomnia in adults. Data included documented diagnosis, use of CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia), use of BZDs and Z-drugs including treatment regimen, and whether physicians prescribed anti-histamines for insomnia. The data were analyzed using STATA 14 after transcription to a MS XL file. Of the 504 records reviewed, 379 patients (75%) were prescribed BZDs or Z-drugs; only 182 (48%) of them had clearly documented indications for their use. Three hundred and seven patients (60%) were diagnosed with insomnia; none of them received CBT-I as initial treatment. No patients on long-term use of hypnotics were reviewed by their physicians after they began using the medication. More than 43% of patients were prescribed anti-histamines for insomnia. No records met all (or even six) of the seven criteria. KFCH physicians do not follow US guidelines. Therefore, the Ministry of Health (MOH) should improve its administrative systems including documentation, and instead of using international guidelines that are seldom followed, physicians should be trained in prescribing hypnotics and national guidelines need to be developed

    A cloud-based deep learning system for improving crowd safety at event entrances

    Crowding at the entrances of large events may lead to critical and life-threatening situations, particularly when people start pushing each other to reach the event faster. A system for automatic and timely identification of pushing behavior would help organizers and security forces to intervene early and mitigate dangerous situations. In this paper, we propose a cloud-based deep learning system for early detection of pushing automatically in the live video stream of crowded event entrances. The proposed system relies mainly on two models: a pre-trained deep optical flow and an adapted version of the EfficientNetV2B0 classifier. The optical flow model extracts the characteristics of the crowd motion in the live video stream, while the classifier analyses the crowd motion and annotates pushing patches in the live stream. A novel dataset is generated based on five real-world experiments and their associated ground truth data to train the adapted EfficientNetV2B0 model. The experimental situations simulated a crowded event entrance, and social psychologists manually created the ground truths for each video experiment. Several experiments on the videos and the generated dataset are carried out to evaluate the accuracy and annotation delay time of the proposed system. Furthermore, the experts manually revised the annotation results of the system.     SPORTS SENTIMENTS AND FINANCIAL MARKETS: SHADENFREUDE IN RIVALRY OF INDIA AND PAKISTAN

    This paper examines the reaction of sports (International Cricket) outcomes on stock markets of Pakistan and India. Valuation of stock markets is taken in terms of abnormal stock returns around the dates of one day international (ODI) matches. Event study has been employed in this paper for 605 ODI matches played by Pakistan and 660 ODI matches played by India in period of 1990-2019. Findings suggest that on next trading day following the match stock returns are positive after win and negative after losing the game in both countries. In this paper one novel finding is existence of negative abnormal returns one day before matches due to anxiety of fan investors before game starts. Another important aspect of rivalry is examined as two rival countries are taken as sample. Results suggest that fan investors experience schadenfreude as they feel positive when their national team wins or rival team loses and feel bad when their team loses or rival wins. This optimism or pessimism results in abnormal stock returns mentioned in results of this paper

    Formulation, evaluation and optimization of miconazole nitrate tablet prepared by foam granulation technique

    The aim of our study was to utilize novel foam granulation technique in formulation of miconazole nitrate; a model hydrophobic drug as oral disintegrating tablets "ODT" particularly to enhance its bioavailability. Foam granulation technique has additional advantages over the other traditional granulation technique since; it enhances the granulation process and produce acceptable tablets. Fractional factorial design was used to investigate the effect of formulation and processing variables on the prepared miconazole ODT. The prepared granules were evaluated by measuring their density, flowability, granules size and shape, and granules wetting time. The quality attributes of the prepared tablets; drug content, tablet thickness, uniformity of weight, tablet tensile strength, friability, disintegration, and dissolution were also evaluated. The results indicated that, the prepared granules showed acceptable characteristics and is significantly affected by the disintegrant type, urea concentration, and the lubricant type. The quality attributes of the tablets were not affected by the processing parameters. From the prepared formulas; F20, F19, F12, and F20 displayed 18, 35, 35, and 40 seconds disintegration time respectively and the percent of dissolution after 15 minutes ranged from 94.4-100%. These results ascertained that foam granulation technique fulfill the requirement in preparation of miconazole ODT. Key words: miconazole nitrate, foam granulation, oral disintegrating tablet

    Study the Influence of Treatment Interruptions in the Radical Irradiation of Breast Cancer

    Hypofractionated radiotherapy (HFRT) in breast cancer treatment regimen (40 Grey /15 fractions/3 weeks) is more convenient for patients, especially those coming from remote areas to radiotherapy facilities and for healthcare providers, than conventional fractionation (50 Gy/25 fractions/5weeks). So the effect of radiotherapy interruption on treatment outcome (loco-regional control (LRC)& overall survival (OS)) during hypofractionated schedule is the issue of our study. Materials and Methods: We studied retrospectively 174 female patients with breast cancer who received PORT at the Clinical Oncology & Nuclear Medicine Department, Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University, Egypt, from January-2012 to December-2016. We determined the treatment outcome (OS&LRC) from the follow-up (FU) of the studied patients, as the patient still survived or died, and recurrence till now occurred or not, and were estimated with the Kaplan-Meier (K-M) method and Logrank test, respectively. Then we calculated surviving fraction (SF) and tumor control probability (TCP) with regard to biologically effective dose (BED), for all patients, using breast cancer radiobiological parameters. Results: When comparing patients without radiotherapy gap with patients with radiotherapy gaps, the results showed a decrease in LRC rate in patients with radiotherapy treatment interruptions by 15 % (P=0.019, a significant value), but no detrimental effect on OS because of the very limited number of the studied patients. Curves of the relationship between (SF&OTT) and (TCP&OTT) confirmed the detrimental effect of unscheduled gap during radiotherapy fractions on the treatment outcome. Also we found a significant-P value for (marital status, start day of radiotherapy fractions, time, number, and duration of gaps); it means these factors affect LRC during radiotherapy interruptions.Conclusions: Interruptions during postoperative hypofractionated irradiation of 7breast cancer (40 Gy/15 fractions/3weeks) should be avoided and if they are inevitable, they should not be prolonged more than two days, as they will adversely affect the treatment outcome (LRC)
