The main purpose of this study is to clarify the impact of performance management in the public sector. Public sectors are the core entities in a country that play vital roles in order to provide services to the public and bring comfort to them. Therefore, it is important to understand whether public sectors can be effective for the general public or not. In order for the public sector to be effective performance management must be put in place. As Afghanistan is a country with high bureaucracy in its public sectors, therefore, there was a need for research to be conducted in the field of Performance management to find out the factors which lead to weak performance in the public sectors. The result of the study shows that some factors like favoritism, conflict of interest, and appointing inexperienced employees with irrelevant educational backgrounds to operational and managerial positions can lead to weak performance in public sectors

Effect of welding tool geometry on microstructure and hardness in Friction Stir Welded Plates

    Get PDF
Friction Stir Welding is a solid state welding process for joining aluminum and other metallic alloys where the metal is not melted during the process and the original metal characteristic remains unchanged as far as possible. It was invented in 1991 in The Welding Institute (TWI), United Kingdom to substitute conventional welding of aluminum alloy. Friction Stir Welding can be use in shipbuilding marine, aerospace industry and railway industries. The welding parameters and tool pin profile play a major role in defining the weld quality. This report covers the theoretical background of friction stir welding, literature reviews on related research works, implemented methodology, and current results. The objective of the project is to study the effect of welding tool geometry on the microstructure and hardness of welded plates. The project will focus on three types of pin design which are straight cylindrical, threaded cylindrical and tapered. The tools are fabricated using CNC Machine and undergo heat treatment. Two plates of aluminum alloy work piece were set-up in butt joint configuration and clamped rigidly during welding operation. The work pieces are welded using different type of welding tool pin profile and different sets of parameters. Welded work pieces that have been welded by the designed tools were undergo lab testing which are hardness and microstructure test in order to rectify the difference of the weld results. From this project, it can be observed that different geometry of tool will produce different weld result

Generally, all universities have a website that has information about the background of the universities and other sub menus that are related to the universities. The website owners should know their websites’ usability level in order to deliver messages effectively. This research has intended to identify the importance of the usability factor in the creation of a website. This research has employed a survey method that has been used to analyse the data to identify the crucial aspects that need to be fulfilled and followed before embarking on a homepage design process. This survey has evaluated the top 5 local universities in Malaysia, which are Universiti Malaya (UM), UniversitiKebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) UniversitiTeknologi Malaysia (UTM), UniversitiSains Malaysia (USM) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The evaluation of the usability factor involved were ease of use, navigation, graphics, layout, text and font size. This research is very important, considering the lack of local academic writings regarding homepage usability that are being produced as a guide in the creation of websites. Interview sessions with local professional webpage designers were carried out to get their views, visions and aspirations in webpage designs for universities. The results have been compared in order to fulfil the research objective. The data collection was acquired verbally as well as visually. The findings can be used as a reference to set certain standards in webpage design and creation, and also to be used for academic benefit

Packaging design plays an important role to attract buyers. Several cases have been reported on the unintentional buying of canned alcoholic beverages by Muslims caused by the confusing packaging design between the alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Many studies on the development of packaging design for halal food products and halal beverages have been carried out. However, there is a lack of studies on alcoholic beverages in Malaysia because of the religious sensitivities in the matter of halal and haram. This research paper has aimed to define the confusing elements on alcoholic cans to help the Muslim consumers in recognising the canned alcoholic beverages effectively. A survey has been conducted to get the clarification from Muslim consumers on the confusing design elements. Based on the survey results, the visual analysis investigated the elements (pattern, colour, brand, images, and typography) to get the priority flow on how to recognise alcoholic beverages easily and effectively. The findings of the visual analysis are discussed in terms of the similarities in the design element from the principal display panel (PDP) of the can

Augmented reality (AR) has the potential to enhance the teaching and learning experience in construction technology which involves the learning of construction processes and understanding the construction elements. Augmented reality also provides the ability to change and improve the nature of education. This is due to the possibility of overlaying media onto the real world for content consumption using smartphones and tablets devices, which enables students to access information anywhere and anytime. However, before implementing a new approach to teaching, the state of whether the students are ready to use AR have to be identified. This also goes toward what the students expect when using AR in learning, how do they accept using AR and effectiveness of using AR in learning. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to (1) Identify the readiness of students on using AR in teaching; (2) Identifying what do the students expect when using AR in learning construction technology; (3) Identifying the student’s acceptance of AR in learning; (4) The effectiveness of AR in construction technology learning. A quantitative method of analysis has been implemented measuring the mean score of objective 1-3 based on the student’s responses to the questionnaire. On the other hand, the second phase of the study which is to determine whether using AR is effective in learning was done by comparing pre-test and post-test results. Results from the study show assuring indicators that students accept the usage of AR in construction technology education, the application also fulfils their expectations on what AR could aid in the learning process and for student’s acceptance, the result shows that students accepted the usage of AR as a learning tool. Meanwhile, the results regarding AR effectiveness on construction technology displayed noticeable improvements regarding student’s pre-test and post-test results with 68% of students display improvements in their scores
