Unravelling Deconstruction: A Comprehensive Examination of its Qualitative Research Method and Application in Historical Texts

    Get PDF
This research endeavors to delve into the qualitative research method of deconstruction and its profound application in deciphering the nuanced meanings within historical texts. Utilizing a review methodology, this study takes the form of a comprehensive review article. Deconstruction, as both a theory and practical approach to text reading, challenges the prevailing notion that language systems inherently establish coherence or unity in literary texts, aiming to uncover definitive meanings. The primary objective of deconstruction is to express concepts qualitatively and analytically. Research questions are tailored to the type of text under consideration, guided by the researcher's decisions. For instance, the groundbreaking concept of "explanatory and inquiry" emerged in the literary domain, maintaining its relevance within academic institutions and expanding to encompass various conceptual frameworks. Deconstruction extends its reach into social thinking and speeches, involving critical re-examination of historical texts to glean insights into historical facts. Essentially akin to metaphysical criticism, the deconstruction method was founded by Jacques Derrida, an Algerian philosopher of French origin, whose theories significantly influenced postmodern philosophy and literary criticism

Paradoxes of a Conventional Society: A Study of Ben Jonson’s The Alchemist and Benard Shaw’s Heartbreak House

    Get PDF
Drama is a cognitive process and means of concretely translating abstract ideas into reality. It provides a vent for dramatists to vividly capture the rhythms of life in their societies. From the eons of time, the modus operandi of drama has placed it on a pedestal of a gadfly that prods, points and comments on the realities of its time. It is, therefore, pertinent to say that the mind of the dramatist is fertilized by the various social, economic cum political realities that are operational within the domain of his/her existence. This study focuses on two English plays; namely Ben Jonson’s Elizabethan play, The Alchemist, and George Benard Shaw’s modern drama- Heartbreak House. The selection of these models is anchored on the staggering power of their authors to detect the symptoms of social diseases that are present in their societies at their moments of writing and which by their being exacerbated in our own time, appear transhistorical in nature. The objectives of this study are to highlight the contradictory qualities and properties (paradoxes) of a modern society; one that seeks growth in all ramifications (education, politics, science, among others) and yet finds solace in mundaneness as exemplified by the two plays. The second objective is to comparatively look at the realities in the world of the two plays and what is obtainable now in our own age. Therefore, the interpretation of the past and the new meanings of the present will be juxtaposed and evaluated. Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory will provide frame of reference for the study while interpretive approach shall be content analysis

The Scenario of Zakah Management in Bangladesh: A Critical Analysis

    Get PDF
The aim of the study is to describe and analyze the real scenario of zakah management in Bangladesh. Zakah is an important tool to eradicate poverty in the country and it can play a vital role in alleviating unemployment too. About 91.04% of the total population of the country is Muslim. A good number of Muslims are capable of paying zakah annually. However, the zakah management system in urban or rural areas is poor. And the capable people on whom zakah is compulsory are not so positive about distributing zakah among (mustahaqqun) the beneficiary group. Mustahaqqun means the class of people who are eligible to collect zakah according to Islamic Shariah. Almost, all the zakah payers are not aware enough to pay zakah in the defined Sariah way. Only a few people legally pay their zakah portion among the eligible class. For this, the actual method of zakah distribution management in Bangladesh is not exercised and executed properly. This is why, the real beneficiary group is not facilitated in a systematic way. This study also tries to focus on the challenges of zakah distribution management in Bangladesh and tries to highlight the effective recommendations for resolving these problems

Textual Analysis of Conflict and Political Songs of the Dentsefo and Tuafo Asafo Companies of Effutu, Winneba

    Get PDF
Despite the global recognition of political messages in music, it is evident that such expressions often lead to friction and disagreement among the warrior groups. This study aims to investigate the political expressions and conflicts within the music of the Asafo companies in Winneba. The research utilizes participant observation and semi-structured interviews as its primary methods, drawing inspiration from existing literature. The perspectives of 10 Asafo company leaders are examined to discern the factors contributing to conflicts in their songs. The data collected through participant observation and interviews is subjected to textual analysis. The study’s findings reveal a consistent theme across all Effutu songs emphasizing conflicts and wars. These musical expressions are characterized by explicit elements of rivalry, provocation, and challenge. The study suggests that stakeholders should redirect their efforts towards using music as a means to foster peace and harmony among the Asafo groups in Winneba, rather than allowing them to serve as tools for conflict. This implies a need to rethink and restructure the current approach to musical expressions within these communities, emphasizing their potential for promoting unity rather than discord

Time in Kant’s philosophy: An Analysis

    Get PDF
One of the most important ideas in Kant's philosophy is the idea of time. It might be argued that Kant is the true creator of the metaphysics of time given the significance and prominence of the idea in his system of thought. This essay's goal is to support such an assertion. Anyone who reads Kant's writings—especially the 'Critique of Pure Reason'—will quickly see that his philosophy is, in fact, a philosophy of time. The 'Critique of Pure Reason' serves as the study's foundation, although other works by Kant have also been taken into consideration. Heidegger's understanding of and interpretation of Kant has some bearing on our strategy. In reality, Heidegger was the one who first understood the crucial part that time plays in Kant's philosophy. Kant establishes a two-way interaction with time. On the one hand, Kant's philosophy is built on the idea of time, but on the other, Kant's philosophy presents us with a concept of time that is entirely distinct from any philosophy that came before it. The concept itself has inspired all of Kant's philosophical theories, and Kant has altered its meaning

The goal of the study was to ascertain the job history and status of Jose Rizal Memorial State University graduates, in particular those who completed the bachelor's degree programs in tourism and hotel and restaurant management between 2012 and 2016. The design of this tracer study utilized a descriptive quantitative methodology. To collect pertinent study data, a modified, standardized questionnaire and interviewing methods were employed as the instrument. Only 109 graduates out of a total of 241 responded to the survey via email and social networking sites. In order to determine the respondent's profile and mean for the degree of usefulness and relevance of the work-related values and abilities and curriculum-related elements, a frequency count and percentage computation were used. According to the survey, honesty and love of God are 'Very Much Helpful' in the tourism industry, along with work-related qualities. Communication abilities were identified as being 'Very Much Connected' to the job requirements for both tourism and the management of hotels and restaurants. With the exception of Natural Science, Culinary Arts and Services, and Accounting for HRM, practically all of the variables had significant relevance from elements relating to the curriculum. It is advised that the curriculum be modified to reflect changes in the new educational system and to accommodate the shifting needs of business. To increase the number of graduates, teachers should also improve or change their teaching methods to better meet the needs and requirements of the different types of students they are teaching.
