Because of the commonness and extensive usage of online technology these days, mobile commerce is an emerging area of attraction for marketing research. Although there is a dearth of studies exploring the factors that influence on mobile commerce embracement and adoption through mobile applications in general, particularly the effect of mobile commerce adoption attitude using Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) remains uncharted. The exploration of the technology acceptance factors is quite challenging and demanding primarily due to the reason that online population is widely dispersed and diversified in terms of their dynamics. Still this area remains a venture of curiosity to the marketers due to magnetism in its potential. Current research assist marketers by providing an insight into the factors that explains this scenario and the results could be used to capitalize the fast growing online market. Three hypothesis strongly validated the effect of perceived trust, perceived value and social influence on mobile commerce adoption while perceived self-efficacy was found to have a little effect on mobile commerce adoption. Predominantly, it was found that Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) remains most effective predictor to mobile commerce adoption. Current research could be used to comprehend and take advantage of key psychological attributes mentioned in the study to upsurge the volume of existing mobile commerce market

Rate of EGFR mutation in patients with pulmonary adenocarcinoma

    Get PDF
Purpose: Contemporary literature on lung adenocarcinoma has demonstrated a genetic difference of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) pathway conferring to ethnicity, such as higher frequency of activated EGFR mutations in East Asian population. This information is missing in some developing countries, and we intend to address this gap in the literature. Methods: We examined the rate of EGFR mutations among Pakistani patients with adenocarcinoma of the lung. Fine-needle aspiration samples were gathered from 73 patients. Polymerase chain reaction was performed on extracted DNA for mutational analysis of EGFR exons 19 and 21. Results: EGFR mutations were discovered in 18 of 73 (24.6%) patients. We did not find any significant difference in EGFR mutation rate with regard to patient's age, sex, smoking history, clinical stage of lung cancer, subtypes of adenocarcinoma, and tumor differentiation. Conclusion: Our investigation shows that the EGFR mutation rate in our patient population with adenocarcinoma of the lung was higher than in African-American, Arabian, and white Caucasian patients, and was lower than the East Asian population

Energy Efficient Analysis for WCDMA/ 3G Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Deployments in Indoor Environment

    No full text
In near future, the cellular traffic will increase rapidly with majority of the increase coming from Indoor traffic. To cope up with the ever increasing demand, more Base Stations are being deployed in limited areas, which can increase the capacity but will also be responsible for increased energy consumption. Since power is a valuable commodity today both economical and environmental wise, energy efficient deployment along with capacity improvement is crucial for both incumbent and new telecom operators. The objective of this Thesis is to evaluate Power consumption and Capacity for Indoor users, both in Homogeneous and Heterogeneous infra structure cases for the 3G WCDMA/UMTS technology. The comparison is done for Uniform and Non-Uniform Traffic Distributions. In homogeneous case, results indicate that there is a tradeoff between Area Power Consumption, APC and Area Spectral Efficiency, ASE. Large Macro Base Stations covering a limited Indoor Area use less APC but provides low ASE. Small Micro Base Stations which cover the same Indoor Area consumes little more APC then Macro BS but increases the ASE manifold. In Heterogeneous case results suggest that Heterogeneous Networks (HETNET) cases enhance the Area Throughput significantly with a small increase in Area Power Consumption. MACRO+10WLAN 1is the best HETNET case in both Uniform and Non-Uniform Traffic with up to 40% Energy savings and higher data/user compared to MACRO Only deployment. The traffic patterns, number of active users in a cell and Inter Site Distances between Base Stations strongly influence the energy saving and capacity enhancements

Portfolio Selection and Optimization through Neural Networks and Markowitz Model: A Case of Pakistan Stock Exchange Listed Companies

    No full text
This paper used artificial neural networks (ANNs) time series predictor for approximating returns of Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) listed 100 companies. These projected returns are then substituted into expected returns in the Markowitz’s Mean Variance (MV) portfolio Model. For comparison empirical data used is closing prices of PSX listed stocks, Karachi Inter Bank Offer Rates (KIBOR) as risk free rate and KSE-all share index as benchmark. The Portfolio returns are compared for two datasets by employing various constraints like budget, transaction costs, and turnover constraints. The value of portfolios is measured through Sharpe ratio and Information ratio. Both Sharpe and Information ratios support use of ANNs as return predictor and optimisation tool over simple MV model implemented for empirical data as well as predicted data. ANNs framework performed better in both Long and Short positions and its portfolio returns are significantly higher as compared with MV

For recommendations, customers are increasingly having faith in suggestions over the internet. Online societal/social networks (OSNs) are frequently used in Tourism and tourists use them to gain knowledge and gather information about different tourist’s resorts. The main objective of the current research is to develop understanding about the effect of different independent variables such as apparent Ease of use, Belief in reliability, Functional belief and Switching Cost to determine Social Norms which ultimately effect Intention to Share knowledge.  This model helps to understand the underlying motives that influence consumers to share information about tourist’s resorts with others. Data was collected from the people who were using social networking sites for more than a year for tourism recommendations. Structural equation modeling was used for the data analysis and it was found the most of the proposed hypothesis were accepted validating presence of a significantly valid relationship between the variables. The study carries considerable theoretical and practical implications for researchers as well as tourism managers
