Analytic postbuckling solution of a pre-stressed infinite beam bonded to a linear elastic foundation

AbstractThe postbuckling deflection of an infinite beam that is bonded to a linear elastic foundation and is subjected to an internal compressive stress is analyzed. The nonlinear equilibrium equation that governs the problem considers extensional deformation of the beam. An analytic solution of the nonlinear equilibrium equation is presented and is found to be in good agreement with numerical simulations of the problem. The numerical simulations confirm that for a linear elastic foundation the postbuckling deflection is periodic. The analytic solution shows that the postbuckling wavelength is unaffected by the level of internal stress, and is equal to the wavelength at the critical state

Unlocking social media and user generated content as a data source for knowledge management

The pervasiveness of Social Media and user-generated content has triggered an exponential increase in global data volumes. However, due to collection and extraction challenges, data in many feeds, embedded comments, reviews and testimonials are inaccessible as a generic data source. This paper incorporates Knowledge Management framework as a paradigm for knowledge management and data value extraction. This framework embodies solutions to unlock the potential of UGC as a rich, real-time data source for analytical applications. The contributions described in this paper are threefold. Firstly, a method for automatically navigating pagination systems to expose UGC for collection is presented. This is evaluated using browser emulation integrated with dynamic data collection. Secondly, a new method for collecting social data without any a priori knowledge of the sites is introduced. Finally, a new testbed is developed to reflect the current state of internet sites and shared publicly to encourage future research. The discussion benchmarks the new algorithm alongside existing data extraction techniques and provides evidence of the increased amount of UGC data made accessible by the new algorithm

Abstract: The study aimed to evaluate the conflict management effectiveness degree of educational school principals at Jerusalem district and its relationship to teachers’ morale. The study sample consisted of (384) school teachers selected using stratified random method. To achieve the study objectives. The correlational descriptive methodology was used. A questionnaire was used to collect data. The study showed that the degree of conflict management effectiveness among the principals of education schools in Jerusalem district from teachers’ point of view was moderate. It also showed that the degree of morale of teachers from their point of view was moderate. The study revealed a positive significant correlation between the degree of conflict management effectiveness among the school principals and the degree of morale of teachers in the education schools in Jerusalem district. ملخص: هدفت الدراسة تعرف درجة فاعلية إدارة الصراع لدى مديري مدارس التربية في لواء القدس وعلاقتها بالروح المعنوية للمعلمين. تكونت عينة الدراسة من (384) معلماً ومعلمة تم اختيارهم بالطريقة الطبقية العشوائية. ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة، استُخدم المنهج الوصفي الارتباطي باستخدام الاستبانة. أشارت النتائج إلى أنَّ درجة فاعلية إدارة الصراع التنظيمي لدى مديري مدارس التربية في لواء القدس من وجهة نظر المعلمين كانَّ متوسطاً، وأنَّ درجة الروح المعنوية لدى المعلمين من وجهة نظرهم كان متوسطاً. كشفت النتائج عن وجود علاقة إيجابية دالة إحصائياً بين درجة فاعلية إدارة الصراع لدى مديري المدارس وبين درجة الروح المعنوية لدى المعلمين في مدارس التربية في لواء القدس
