    Noniterative application of EPANET for pressure dependent modelling of water distribution systems

    EPANET 2 has been used previously to simulate pressure-deficient operating conditions in water distribution systems by: (a) executing the algorithm repetitively until convergence is achieved; (b) modifying the source code to cater for pressure-dependent outflows; or (c) incorporating artificial elements e.g. reservoirs in the data input file. This paper describes a modelling approach that enables operating conditions with insufficient pressure to be simulated in a single execution of EPANET 2 without modifying the source code. This is achieved by connecting a check valve, a flow control valve and an emitter to the demand nodes. Thus the modelling approach proposed enhances an earlier formulation by obviating the need for an artificial reservoir at the nodes with insufficient pressure. Consequently the connecting pipe for the artificial reservoir (for which additional data must be provided) is not required. Also, we removed a previous limitation in the modelling of pressure-dependent nodal flows to better reflect the performance of the nodes with insufficient flow and pressure. This yields improved estimates of the available nodal flow and is achieved by simulating pressure-deficient nodal flows with emitters. The emitter discharge equation enables the nodal head-flow relationship to be varied to reflect the characteristics of any network. The procedure lends itself to extended period simulation, especially when carried out with the EPANET toolkit. The merits of the methodology are illustrated on several networks from the literature one of which has 2465 pipes. The results suggest the procedure is robust, reliable and fast enough for regular use

    Algoritma Genetika (AG) adalah algoritma pencarian untuk menyelesaikan masalah yang didasarkan pada evolusi genetika yang terjadi pada makhluk hidup. Masalah yang akan dibahas pada penelitian ini adalah pencarian akar persamaan polinomial dengan menggunakan algoritma genetika. Tujuan penulisan skripsi ini adalah menjelaskan implementasi algoritma genetika dengan metode seleksi roullette wheel untuk mencari akar persamaan polinomial.Langkah-langkah pencarian akar persamaan polinomial menggunakan algoritma genetika adalah membangkitkan populasi secara random, evaluasi fitness tiap individu, seleksi kromosom denga metode roullette wheel, melakukan crossover pada kromosom yang terpilih, mutasi gen pada kromosom yang terpilih, menyusun populasi baru sampai memperoleh individu dengan nilai fitness optimum.Hasil implementasi algoritma genetika untuk mencari akar persamaan dari sebuah fungsi P(x) pada interval [0.3] didapat bahwa pada generasi pertama kromosom kedua belas telah dihasilkan fitness 1,000, dengan kromosom 10101010 yang akarnya adalah .2,00

    This community service aims to improve the potential of the archipelago, especially from the marine tourism sector. Against the background of not optimal management of tourism potential in the District of Raas which is an archipelago and has potential places to become a tourist. Development of Marine Tourism on Raas Island in Order to Mobilize the Local Economy. The process of developing marine tourism is done by mapping, observation, community empowerment and literature study. Based on the results of mapping and observation shows that there are 3 beaches that have attraction and are very potential, just need to be developed again and also managed properly. The three beaches also have different characteristics so that if the tours offered are not monotonous. The conclusion of the process of developing marine tourism is the need for awareness of the local community and also the cooperation of various parties and also agencies to work together to develop and build supporting facilities that can support these three potential beaches into a marine tourism that is not only a power pull Raas District alone, but also can be a pillar of the people's econom

    A Study of Semi­ridged and Non­Linear Behaviour of Nailed Joints in Timber Portal Frames

    SYNOPSIS In this paper a study is made of the semi-rigid and non-linear behaviour of nailed knee joints in timber frames. A numerical analysis is applied to the non-linear deformation of the joints. The solution is derived using the stiffness method of analysis in which the rotation of each nailed joint is modelled by a series of piece-wise linear relationships, based on the load-deformation characteristics of nailed joints laterally loaded in single shear. The stiffness matrix is corrected at each step, to allow for joint flexibility; and the short-term non-linear deformation of frames, up to ultimate load, is calculated. Experimental verification is made using knee joint specimens and 6 m span timber portals with nailed plywood knee joints. The test results confirm the applicability of the analysis
