The attainment of a nation's independence from colonial rule typically stemmed from an enduring struggle fuelled by widespread patriotism. These efforts to secure independence resulted in the establishment of military forces dedicated to preserving the nation's liberty against any potential threats. In the years of the post-independence era, patriotism is woven into a nation's identity via the sacrifices of its military services. Every day, men and women wear uniforms, ready to face the unknown, serve, and defend. Their passion for duty is unshakable and unrivalled. However, within their valour lurks a modest gesture that is sometimes overlooked: a genuine "thank you for your service.

Investigating students’ attitude and motivation in learning English as a second language among four higher institutions in Malaysia

The aim of this study is to examine the students’ motivation and attitude towards learning English as a second language from four Malaysian higher institutions. A random sampling of 471 respondents participated in this study. Using 28 items instrument, adapted from Gardner’s Attitude/Motivation Test Battery (AMTB), an online questionnaire was distributed in getting the data. Students’ motivational level is found to be high with (M=6.37, SD=0.77, M=6.10, SD=0.82). Additionally, the respondents are having positive attitudes in learning English (M=4.07, SD=0.48). With the findings, it is a hope that this can be a guidance for instructors to design a suitable lesson and approach to be used in the class

Characterisation of pulp and paper manufactured from oil palm empty fruit bunches and kenaf fibres

In papermaking, blending or mixture of fibres is one of the ways to enhance mechanical properties of paper. The objective of this study was to evaluate the properties of paper manufactured from mixture of oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB) and kenaf fibres. The papers were prepared according to 10, 30, 50 and 70 percentages of kenaf whole stem blended into oil palm empty fruit bunch fibres. The preparation and testing of papers were carried out based on TAPPI Test Methods. Results showed that using kenaf whole stem fibres improved the mechanical properties of the blended papers and complied with the standard requirement for writing and printing grade paper

Erasmus+ international staff mobility programme ignites intercultural exchanges and global collaboration

The Center for Modern Languages (CML) Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) recently hosted a stimulating week of international collaboration under the esteemed Erasmus+ International Staff Mobility Programme funding. The mobility programme is funded under the framework of Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) KA107 Project. At UMP, the Center for International Relations (CIR) is responsible for coordinating with potential higher education institutions from Erasmus+ Programme Countries in applying for the ICM grant. UMP has signed a few inter-institutional agreements worldwide for the ICM KA107 project

A novel secure artificial bee colony with advanced encryption standard technique for biomedical signal processing

Over the years, the privacy of a biomedical signal processing is protected using the encryption techniques design and meta-heuristic algorithms which are significant domain and it will be more significant shortly. Present biomedical signal processing research contained security because of their critical role in any developing technology that contains applications of cryptography and health deployment. Furthermore, implementing public-key cryptography in biomedical signal processing sequence testing equipment needs a high level of skill. Whatever key is being broken with enough computing capabilities using brute-force attack. As a result, developing a biomedical signal processing cryptography model is critical for improving the connection between existing and emerging technology. Furthermore, public-key cryptography implementation for meta-heuristic-based bio medical signal processing sequence test equipment necessitates a high level of skill. The suggested novel technique can be used to develop a secure algorithm of artificial bee colony, which depend on the advanced encryption standard (AES). AES can be used to reduce the encryption time and to increase the protection capacity for health systems. The novel secure can protect the biomedical signal processing against plain text attacks
