Solving Two-Points Singular Boundary Value Problem Using Hermite Interpolation
In this paper, we have been used the Hermite interpolation method to solve second order regular boundary value problems for singular ordinary differential equations. The suggest method applied after divided the domain into many subdomains then used Hermite interpolation on each subdomain, the solution of the equation is equal to summation of the solution in each subdomain. Finally, we gave many examples to illustrate the suggested method and its efficiency
Influence of built form in urban ventilation assessment of tropical cities with weak wind conditions
Urban ventilation is recognized as effective countermeasure on air pollution and urban heat island, yet most tropical urban areas receive low annual mean wind velocity thus lessening potential for urban ventilation. Effect of built form on resulting mean wind velocity at pedestrian-level was analyzed through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to assess effectiveness in urban ventilation of tropical cities with weak wind conditions based on three heterogeneous built form of Kampung Baru, Taman Keramat and Pantai Dalam which located in the city of Kuala Lumpur for wind direction from south and west. The urban density for the built form was characterized by using urban packing density parameter of frontal area ratio, ?f and the urban ventilation was assessed based on availability of pedestrian wind which described using wind velocity ratio, VR. Influence of built form in urban ventilation was found to be significant in affecting the mean wind velocity, where magnitude of VR at pedestrian-level was decreasing as the value of ?f of the built form increases. Suggestions to improve urban ventilation design in major development project are provided based on these findings
Ulama and Fatwa (Pros and cons of the Circular Letter of the Aceh Governor and MPU Decree)
This study critically discusses the pros and cons of the circular letter (surat edaran) of the Aceh governor and Ulama Consultative Council (MPU) Decree No. 2 of 2020 related to responses and public evaluation of the prohibition of the religious learning forums (pengajian) other than Ahlussunnah Waljama’ah. This research is a qualitative research with three data collection techniques: meticulous observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The result of the study showed that there were pros and cons related to the circular letter and decision on the prohibition of conducting pengajian that contradicts the I’tiqat of Ahlussunnah Waljama’ah which is based on Syafi’i School of Law. Among them, according to the Aceh government and the MPU, the circular letter is intended to prevent greater abuses in the form of disunity in the Acehnese community due to differences in understanding in matters of worship. Meanwhile, others failed to understand the circular letter and MPU decrees because they consider them weak and were greatly influenced by certain conservative Islamic figures in Aceh, appearing to some people as political activity and power
Anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive activities of the ethanolic extract of Pluchea indica (L) less leaf
Ethanolic extract of Pluchea indica leaf (PIL) was used to investigate its anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive activities by using carrageenan - induced oedema model and acetic acid induced writhing test. PIL exhibited significant and dose-dependent anti-inflammatory activity at a dose of 300 mg/kg when administered orally. It is also demonstrated that the i.p administration of PIL at a dose of 10, 30, 100 and 300 mg/kg produced significant inhibition of abdominal constriction induced with 0.6% (v/v) acetic acid in dose dependent manner. These results indicate that PIL exhibits significant anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive effects
Safety in Industrial Radiography: A Short Review
Nuclear industry have increasing demand from the world because its advantages towards us. It can generate larger scale of energy using little material. However there is certain awareness to us.In 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear incident happen in Japan because of tsunami giving a major damage towards environment and people it is the worst incident since Chernobyl. It give a lot damage and the land unliable for decades. Then, power plants radioactive waste radiation to environment. There are few incident related to radioactive waste and it is real life threat. These materials can be harmful to environment for decades to come. Radiography is a non-destructive method used by most industry to discover the structural properties of material or to check for any defect in the material that can cause a failure in the process. The type of radiation used by the industry for radiography technique is ionizing radiation such as x-ray and gamma radiation, it is a strong radiation source. Working with such a dangerous radiation need some decent skills and protection to avoid any radiation exposure to the worker that will result in some serious health condition. Not only it can affect the worker, if it is handled recklessly, it can degrade the quality of the final product and causing pollution to environment. Therefore, an extreme safeguarding and professionalism is required for the radiation worker. In this review, will looked for the safety guidelines to improve the safety to environment and human in nuclear industry and will be focusing on the common radiation protection and procedure that has been implemented in industrial radiograph
Enhancing similarity distances using mandatory and optional forearly fault detection
Software Product Line (SPL) describes procedures, techniques, and tools in software engineering by using a common method of production for producing a group of software systems that identical from a shared set of software assets. In SPL, the similarity-based prioritization can resemble combinatorial interaction testing in scalable and efficient way by choosing and prioritize configurations that most dissimilar. However, the similarity distances in SPL still not so much cover the basic detail of feature models which are the notations. Plus, the configurations always have been prioritized based on domain knowledge but not much attention has been paid to feature model notations. In this paper, we proposed the usage of mandatory and optional notations for similarity distances. The objective is to improve the average percentage of faults detected (APFD). We investigate four different distances and make modifications on the distances to increase APFD value. These modifications are the inclusion of mandatory and optional notations with the similarity distances. The results are the APFD values for all the similarity distances including the original and modified similarity distances. Overall, the results shown that by subtracting the optional notation value can increase the APFD by 3.71% from the original similarity distance
The Change of Solidification Parameters on Hypoeutectic Aluminum-Silicon Alloy Under Different Cooling Rates
Computer-aided cooling curve analysis (CA-CCA) is a cost-saving and easy-to-use thermal analysis tool to identify the solidification characteristics of a material. This paper aims to present the relationship between cooling rate and solidification parameters of aluminum–silicon alloy before semisolid metal processing. An induction furnace was used to melt the as-prepared specimen by heating the respective graphite crucible to 680 ℃ and left it to be cooled and solidified under three different cooling rate conditions. A double thermocouple method was employed by placing one K-type thermocouple at the crucible center and another one near to the crucible wall. Both thermocouple sensors were connected to a data acquisition device, NI 9219 which was linked to a computer with DASYLab pre-installed inside for data logging, along with OriginPro 2019b for graphical representation. Low, intermediate, and high cooling rate conditions were achieved when the crucible was cooled with its top and bottom surface enclosed with Fiberfrax felt (1.0 ℃/s), at ambient temperature (1.3 ℃/s), and by a compressed air flow supplied from air compressor (1.9 ℃/s), respectively. The increase in cooling rate facilitates the nucleation rate and the growth of crystals within the alloy system and thus leads to a shorter solidification time with all the critical points highlighting the phase transition are shifted accordingly
Shorebird Abundance and Species Richness in Penang Island
Mangroves area is one type of landscape in Malaysia that sustains various species of shorebirds. Throughout the years, several species of shorebirds are experiencing tremendous declination in population size. Therefore, the species are classified as endangered and near-threatened under the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Development of coastal wetlands for industrial needs and human disturbances are two major factors affecting the number of the migrating species. This study focused on the abundance and species richness of shorebirds at two main sites i.e. Teluk Air Tawar and Kuala Muda. The birds were observed and counted using a point count method from November 2017 to January 2018. Abiotic factors included temperature, humidity, and light intensity was also studied. A total of 3293 birds, belonging to four families were recorded i.e. Scolopacidae, Ardeidae, Charadriidae, and Laridae. Among these, the family Scolopacidae was the most abundant which accounted for 85% of the total birds at Teluk Air Tawar and 61% at Kota Kuala Muda. The family Laridae was least abundant family at both sites with the percentage of 1% at Teluk Air and 5% at Kota Kuala Muda. Research findings showed that Teluk Air Tawar was an ideal habitat for several shorebirds due to the bigger mangrove estuary than Kota Kuala Muda. It functions as a breeding site for aquatic organisms as well as providing shelter for various bird species including shorebirds. Therefore, conservation efforts should be implemented to continuously preserve and protect the mangrove areas to benefit both human and wildlife populations
Deterrent Factors in Urban Farming Participation
Urban farming is the practice of cultivating, processing, and distributing food in or around urban areas. Urban farming is a relatively new trend in Malaysia and has increased in recent years. As urban farming remains to be promoted by municipal governments and others, it is essential to understand how to ensure these projects are viable. This study was conducted to identify the deterrent factors that hinder the "community buy-in" in the urban farming projects and how to overcome the problem so that "community buy-in" in the urban farming project will be achieved and sustain in the future. Keywords: Urban Farming; Deterrent Factors; Participation; Community Buy-IneISSN: 2398-4287 © 2020.
