Ecoliteracy refers to learning outside the classroom by utilizing the surrounding environment as a learning resource. This study aimed to determine the steps for implementing ecoliteracy with nature as a learning resource in improving environmental care attitudes in elementary schools. This study employed classroom action research, involving 20 fourth-grade students as participants. This study was divided into two cycles, each of which comprised four stages. The instruments used in the study were the student's environmental care attitude observation sheet and environmental care attitude sheet, and the teacher's activity sheet. The findings revealed that the caring attitude towards the environment reached an average of 61%; 14 students (70%) were in the caring category and six students (30%) in the very caring category. The learning outcomes of Cycle 1 were four students (20%) who passed and 16 students (80%) who failed. The attitude of caring for the environment in the Cycle 2 increased following the implementation of ecoliteracy learning steps, as indicated by the questionnaire results that one student (5%) was in the caring category, and 19 students (90%) in the very caring category. Meanwhile, the learning outcomes obtained in the Cycle 2 were 15 students (75%) in the complete category and five students (15%) in the incomplete category

The philosophy and values of the Muwang Sumenep Dance were studied in this study for the sixth-grade students of SDN Pandian V Sumenep. In this study, Grade VI students of SDN Pandian V Sumenep will learn about the Dance Philosophy of Muwang Sangkal Sumenep. It uses a descriptive method that focuses on describing what is described. Observational structured interviews and documentation approaches were taken to collect data for this study. According to the findings, dance classes are held twice a week at SDN Pandian V Sumenep. For students of SDN Pandian V Sumenep, dance classes are held to hone and develop their talents. In addition, they can see how the philosophy is presented and how important it is overall. To perform the Muwang Sangkal dance, children only need to learn the sequence of movements. Meanwhile, children can learn in detail and clearly about the philosophical values of Muwang Sangkal dance, such as the requirements for a Muwang Sangkal dancer to be pure and not menstruating and to be humble and not arrogant. For elementary school students, Muwang Sangkal dance theory is the same as Muwang Sangkal dance theory in general. Makeup and fashion are just two of the many differences between men and women. The Sumenep Muwang Sangkal dance has been recognized as a symbol of the Sumenep Regency by the Sumenep community and has become a source of pride for the Sumenep people

Asthma caused by occupational exposures is common – A systematic analysis of estimates of the population-attributable fraction

Abstract

Background

The aim of this paper is to highlight emerging data on occupational attributable risk in asthma. Despite well documented outbreaks of disease and the recognition of numerous specific causal agents, occupational exposures previously had been relegated a fairly minor role relative to other causes of adult onset asthma. In recent years there has been a growing recognition of the potential importance of asthma induced by work-related exposures

Methods

We searched Pub Med from June 1999 through December 2007. We identified six longitudinal general population-based studies; three case-control studies and eight cross-sectional analyses from seven general population-based samples. For an integrated analysis we added ten estimates prior to 1999 included in a previous review.

Results

The longitudinal studies indicate that 16.3% of all adult-onset asthma is caused by occupational exposures. In an overall synthesis of all included studies the overall median PAR value was 17.6%.

Conclusion

Clinicians should consider the occupational history when evaluating patients in working age who have asthma. At a societal level, these findings underscore the need for further preventive action to reduce the occupational exposures to asthma-causing agents.</p

Overview of biologically digested leachate treatment using adsorption

Biological process is effective in treating most biodegradable organic matter present in leachate; however, a significant amount of ammonia, metals and refractory organic compounds may still remain in this biologically digested leachate. This effluent cannot be released to receiving bodies until the discharge limit is met. Several physical/chemical processes have been practiced as post-treatment to remove the remaining pollutants including coagulation–flocculation, oxidation and adsorption. Adsorption is often applied in leachate treatment as it enhances removal of refractory organic compounds. This chapter will focus on works related to adsorption as one of the commonly used methods to treat biologically digested leachate further down to acceptable discharge limit

Ashwin R Sama, Russell J SchilderDepartment of Medical Oncology, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA, USAAbstract: Fallopian tube carcinoma (FTC) is considered a rare malignancy, but recent evidence shows that its incidence may have been underestimated. Risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy (RRSO) in breast cancer susceptibility gene (BRCA)-positive women has provided a unique opportunity to study the pathogenesis of FTC and ovarian carcinomas. Newer data now suggest that most high-grade serous cancers of the ovary originate in the fimbrial end of the fallopian tube. Due to the presumed rarity of FTC, most current and more recent ovarian cancer clinical trials have now included patients with FTC. The treatment guidelines recommend similar overall management and that the same chemotherapy regimens be used for epithelial ovarian cancers and FTC.Keywords: high grade serous cancers, serous tubal intraepithelial carcinomas, fallopian tube carcinom
