    A equipe de enfermagem e a comunicação com o paciente traqueostomizado

    OBJETIVO: identificar as percepções da equipe de enfermagem acerca da importância da comunicação no cuidado ao paciente traqueostomizado, de modo a auxiliá-lo na sua recuperação. MÉTODOS: estudo de abordagem quantitativa e qualitativa. A amostra do estudo foi constituída por 51 integrantes da equipe de enfermagem (auxiliares de enfermagem, técnicos e enfermeiros), das Clínicas Médica Feminina e Masculina, Centro de Terapia Semi-Intensiva e Intensiva Adulto, e Neurocirurgia, de um hospital de ensino em Curitiba/PR. As informações foram coletadas por meio de questionário com questões fechadas e abertas. Na associação entre variáveis quantitativas foram considerados o teste Qui-Quadrado, valores de p < 0,05 indicaram significância estatística, os dados qualitativos foram submetidos à proposta de análise de conteúdo. RESULTADOS: os dados mostram que os participantes têm vivências variadas em sua área de atuação e constatam na sua prática cotidiana a necessidade e a importância da interação com o paciente traqueostomizado para sua recuperação. Os resultados apontam que os Auxiliares e Técnicos, desenvolvem mais orientações do que o enfermeiro (p=0,028). CONCLUSÃO: evidenciou-se no estudo que na impossibilidade de comunicação verbal pelo paciente, os participantes do estudo se utilizam de estratégias diferenciadas de comunicação, como gestos, sinalização e comunicação escrita

    Food consumed outside the home in Brazil according to places of purchase

    ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE This study aims to describe the places of purchase of food consumed outside the home, characterize consumers according to the places of consumption, and identify the food purchased by place of consumption in Brazil. METHODS We have used data from the Pesquisa de Orçamento Familiar (Household Budget Survey) of 2008-2009 with a sample of 152,895 subjects over 10 years of age. The purchase of food outside the home was collected from the records of all expenditures made in seven days. The places of purchase were grouped according to their characteristics: supermarket, bakery, street food, restaurant, snack bar, fruit shop, and other places. The types of food were grouped into nine categories, considering the nutritional aspects and the marketing characteristics of the item. We have estimated the frequency of purchase in the seven groups of places in Brazil and according to gender and type of food purchased per place. We have calculated the average age, income and years of education, as well as the per capita expenditure according to places of purchase of food consumed outside the home. RESULTS The purchase of food outside the home was reported by 41.2% of the subjects, being it greater among men than women (44% versus 38.5%). Adults had a higher frequency (46%) than teenagers (37.7%) and older adults (24.2%). The highest frequency of places of purchase were snack bar (16.9%) and restaurant (16.4%), while the fruit shop (1.2%) presented the lowest frequency. Sweets, snack chips and soft drinks were the most purchased items in most places. Average expenditure was higher for restaurant (R33.20)andlowerforfruitshop(R33.20) and lower for fruit shop (R4.10) and street food (R$5.00). CONCLUSIONS The highest percentage of food consumed outside the home comes from snack bars and restaurants, pointing to important places for the development of public policies focused on promoting healthy eating

    Vibrio variabilis sp nov and Vibrio maritimus sp nov., isolated from Palythoa caribaeorum

    Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq)Two novel vibrio isolates (R-40492(T) and R-40493(T)) originating from the zoanthid Palythoa caribaeorum in Brazil in 2005 were taxonomically characterized by means of a polyphasic approach comprising multilocus sequence analysis (MLSA), DNA-DNA hybridization (DDH), Delta T(m) analysis and phenotypic characterization. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that R-40492(T) and R-40493(T) fell within the genus Vibrio and were most closely related to each other with 99% similarity; similarities of these two novel isolates towards Vibrio neptunius LMG 20536(T), Vibrio coralliilyticus LMG 20984(T), Vibrio nigripulchritudo LMG 3896(T), Vibrio sinaloensis LMG 25238(T) and Vibrio brasiliensis LMG 20546(T) varied between 97.1 and 98.5 %. DDH experiments showed that the two isolates had less than 15 % relatedness to the phylogenetically most closely related Vibrio species. R-40492(T) and R-40493(T) had 55-57% relatedness to each other. The Delta T(m) between R-40492(T) and R-40493(T) was 6.12 degrees C. In addition, MLSA of concatenated sequences (16S rRNA, ftsZ, gyrB, recA, rpoA, topA, pyrH and mreB; 6035 bp in length) showed that the two novel isolates formed a separate branch with less than 92% concatenated gene sequence similarity towards known species of vibrios. Two novel species are proposed to accommodate these novel isolates, namely Vibrio variabilis sp. nov. (type strain, R-40492(T)=LMG 25438(T)=CAIM 1454(T)) and Vibrio maritimus sp. nov.
